"The American Way" is it in trouble?

You are the state! You have a Christian in the White House! In fact, you've had Christians in the White House for over 200 years! You're 80% of the population! You have Christians controlling every branch of government! You've been the top dog of the world since the days of imperialism. And sir, you have no idea what real persecution tastes like.

There were a few deists back in the begining. :o

But that's it. :csad:

I certainly can see your point, but if we look back historically....followers of Christ persecuted and killed those who refused to convert. I think the perception comes from the fundamentalists who constantly push their "religion" on everyone else, that their religion is the only right one and everyone else is going to hell.
Well, also take into account the term "fundamentalist" was once considered honorbale, and not taboo. However, let me say this much: in my opinion, anyone who uses the Bible to defend or justify things like murder is not a true follower. Scripture warns cleary, "Not everyone who uses the name of Christ is a true believer."

I've heard a few people say, "Don't judge Christianity by the acts of all Christians". Taken in the aforementioned context, I agree completely. It's time religious hypocrites stopped justifying their behavior by holding a cross in front of it. We're called to tell the truth, but do it in love, not bigotry or a "holier than thou" attitude..

EXACTLY!

In the end all that whining is nothing more than the wringing of hands in the light of minorities finally demanding more than just empty lip service to the American Dream, namely their participation in it. The true realization of the American Dream would be every WASP's nightmare because it would mean an immense loss of power and control. It's always easy to espouse "rights" when you're not obligated to actually put your actions where your mouth is.

Let me quote scriptue there "By their fruit you shall easily recognize them"

If the christian tree bears fruit like intolerance, elitism, discrimination, and religious Tyranny then things aren't hard to "recognize".

but its those hypocrites who have the most followers and get the most attention in the media and otherwise.....people want to believe that what they believe is right and that everyone else is wrong....

Awesome posts, I salute you sirs.

Glen Beck is an overweight pig faced alcoholic. He began his CNN show (which I can't believe is still on the air) likening what Al Gore said about global warming to what Hitler said about Jews (I did not make that up). Last week he talked about the California wildfires stating, a lot of America Haters homes are burning today. What a cupid stunt. The acts of the administration, invasion, occupation, torture, corporate welfare, spying on American citizens - these actions that he nightly defends are UNAMERICAN ACTIVITIES. I believe the policies of our government should be changed, before the sotrylines of PG-13 films that sell happy meals.

glenn beck used to be the host of the Glenn and Pat show on KC101 here in Connecticut about 13 or 14 years ago. Kc 101 is the pre eminent pop station here in CT and morning radio is basically bad stand up comedians you can't heckle....

He also stated, "No nation has ever yet existed or been governed without religion, nor can be. The Christian religion is the best religion that has ever been given to man, and I, as chief Magistrate of this nation, am bound to give it the sanction of my example."

Well everything I heard about Jefferson has suggested he was a deist, not a christian and thus wouldn't have wanted America to be a Christian nation.

Let me ask this, how were older times more moral then today? Were the Jim Crow laws moral? Was not letting women vote moral? It seems like you are thinking about some magic "moral" era that never existed.

Also back to my main point, the US government often facts like hypocrites when it comes to the uN. One second they are trying to enforce these rules on other countries, the next they ignore these rules themselves. The US government should pull out of the UN or follow its rules, not act like a hypocrite.

we provide a safe haven for the UN and its personnel. I honestly don't feel we should have to follow the UN's rules.....and if we pull out of the UN, they can find another place that gives them a nice building, free parking, and diplomatic immunity for all their people...

So because the UN hQ is NYC, the US doesn't have follow its rules, that's BS. If the uN HQ was in Paris, would that mean they wouldn't have to follow the rules? All the member states have to follow rules and if they don't want to, they can leave.

I'm sick of conservatives *****ing about the UN one minute and then using UN rules as a basis for invading other countries the next. You can't have it both ways, its either one or the other.

Bear in mind that while we have freedom to choose our own religion, in this country we are not guaranteed any absence of it (known as "freedom from religion"). The U.S. government was intended from the very beginning to be founded on Christian morals, but over the last few decades, more and more people wanted things their own way, and started trying to re-envision America as a liberal or "open-minded" nation. But in fact, by pushing Christ away, they're trashing the very heart of this land which we call home. Personally, I don't want to live in a country where Buddhists, Muslims, Hindus, and atheists have free reign, while every Christian initiative is told in some way, "You're a traitor, and we don't want you here."

I get so shocked sometimes, when liberals say stuff like, "I object to this! Christianity is offensive!", and no one bats an eye. Yet, when a believer in Christ declares the same thing about being persecuted in favor of other "beliefs", we're branded as virtual enemies of the state.

 ok, in the spirit of "truth" do tell us how Christians have been persecuted and turned into virtual enemies of the state.
do tell us when someone has said "Christianity is offensive"
do tell us how " Buddhists, Muslims, Hindus, and atheists have free reign"

or none of what you just said is worth anything.
not that it is, I just want you to see how you tend to lie.

So some guy says something you all disagree with, and that makes him an idiot.

So much for constructive discourse and keeping an open mind toward everyone's points of view.

You can't have it both ways, its either one or the other.
On the other hand, that is exactly what people like Glenn Beck or Moviefan want, They want others to be forced to play by the rules but when they themselves are called to follow them they turn tail and cry persecution and the destruction of the American Way of live.

Glenn Beck is right....Hollywood is making a strategic attempt to downplay patriotism, American pride in their movies....whether you like it or not is one thing, but the executives admit that its happening.

I don't know who Glen Beck is, but he makes some good points.

You keep an open mind and constructive discourse if someone has a constructive thing to say. Mister Becks ideas, however, are up in conservative lala land. He should be sitting in his office with a tin foil hat because the non-sense he espouses reeks of conservative conspiracy theories.

You have the right to free speech, that doesn't mean if your opinions are stupid, they shouldn't be made be fun of. Beck seeing evil "communist" messages, that makes him an idiot.

When Ward Chruchill said that 9-11 victims were "nazis" would you respect his opion or would you call him an idiot like everyone else did.

Actually, this country's founding fathers were mostly deists. Get your facts straight.

And, have you ever heard of the Treaty of Tripoli? Article eleven states:
"As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion; as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquillity, of Musselmen; and as the said States never have entered into any war or act of hostility against any Mehomitan nation, it is declared by the parties that no pretext arising from religious opinions shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries."

And, no. 'Fundamentalist' has never been an honourable thing.

Wow, there are quite a few conspiracy theory believers here.

I don't call it a conspiracy....the corporate executives admit that they want to downplay American patriotism, party to make profit in foreign markets. I also think that the political views of Hollywood is to make a PC film that appeals to every demographic. I don't care what you call it, why its happening, but it is happening.

But that's clearly the free market making a decision on this. Why do you hate the free market, you communist?! :oldrazz:
