Sequels The Avengers 2! The Official News and Speculation Thread - Part 1

That AP thing is meaningless even as a rumor. An actor stood next to a group of other actors and someone said he looked like one of them. Big whoop. It's Hollywood; she'd have said the same about a hundred different guys who were milling about backstage.

Sure. But if you're also armed with the knowledge that Edgar Wright previously mentioned Rudd as a potential Ant-Man, then it's suddenly a lot less coincidental. Either he just happens to be a big fan and is getting his inner fanboy on, or else he's getting chummy with the Avengers for an obvious reason.

And Thanos courts Death!
And....and...lots of people die around Thanos! :yay:

Yeah, I think that's the first "concrete" proof we've had that Thanos is officially the big bad in Avengers 2; for those of you who were still holding a candle for Ultron or MoE or whomever.

you think the ig will be covered before then?

Posted this in the Ant-Man thread, but it's relevant here, too:

What's interesting is that Julian's comment about Wright's comment coupled with this AP speculation could mean not only that Rudd is our Ant-Man, but would also semi-confirm that Ant-Man *will* be an Avenger, as he should be.

I would scream like a little fangirl if Rudd got cast.

hmm, not too sure how I feel about that yet

Yeah, I think so. Maybe in bits and pieces, like the Cube was in Phase I: a little glimpse in Thor 1, a central role in CATFA, then its full power shown in TA1. I'd expect a similar route for the Gauntlet --- glimpse in Thor 2, central role in GOTG, full power in TA2.

It will be Thanos in the next movie, but have little to do with the Infinity Gauntlet. They may rewrite the story so that it only includes the Avengers and a few cameos, but I have my doubts. Also in Ultimate Universe, he wanted to acquire the Tesseract in order to reshape the universe as he sees fit. Infinity Gauntlet has no basis for comparison in the current thread of movies.

It does though, cause think about it
1. By The Other's (I am just gunna start calling him chthon, as its easier to type lol) words, Thanos will opperate on a universal scale
2. The IG teased in Thor 1
3. TWO separate occasions which an infinity gauntlet was released, one "wasn't suppose to be seen yet!"
4. The first part of Thanos we see in avengers 1, is when he stands up, the first thing they show, is a bare hand, probably foreshadowing.

Whenever thanos' main climax occurs in the MCU, be it in avengers 2, it will more than likely have to do with the IG.

I think he will use the IG in Avengers 2. He'll gain possession of it in GotG.

There's no way that they won't use the Gauntlet, it's too iconic of a story to ignore.

Thanos is still a threat to the Avengers even without the Gauntlet and gems or whatever. Hulk could give him trouble, but not enough to where he can beat him. I guess it depends on how bad they want to make him.

Hey,
Unrelated to Thanos, but i gotta ask-

In the news coming out about rewrites on the F4 reboot, they mention exploring deeper mythology like Kree and Skrulls

Now, I know Fox owned Super-skrull
But does anyone know about the character rights for these two races???
Kevin Feige implyed that Marvel owned them, but this seems to suggest otherwise.

And that'd be some bolshoi

Yeah I saw this too. Kinda bummed about the Kree. Mainly because of Mar Vel. Who knows, maybe it is one of those things that both studios can use i.e. Wanda and Pietro. Then again, with all the stuff Avengers has goin on, maybe it would be better to have these 2 races in FF.

Honestly, if Marvel can use Mar-Vell and the Inhumans they should have the Kree. It might be in a grey area like Scarlet Witch/Quicksilver.

Last I heard, many moons ago, was that Marvel Studios had the rights to use Skrulls, but couldn't use Klr't (Super Skrull) because, obviously, he has the powers of the Fantastic Four.

The Kree are a very gray area. The Avengers need them for Ms. Marvel and the Mar-Vell character dynasty, as well as the Kree-Skrull war and all that; but obviously, they feature prominently in the history of the FF as well. Maybe ultimately the Kree & Skrulls will wind up being that common ground that can actually extend the shared film universe into the Fox and Sony films. Who knows.

But I really liked that idea :(

As much as some Hulk fans may enjoy PH/WWH, the fact that Banner isn't in it means that Mark Ruffalo isn't in it. Marvel isn't going to waste his talents. The next Hulk film will feature Banner about as prominently as he was featured in TIH, I'm sure.

Yeah next hulk movie will definitely not be planet hulk.

He is now claiming on twitter that ever since the IM3/GOTG scoop, Marvel has been plotting to take down Latino-Review by pitting the media sites against each other-- "Divide and conquer"

Yeah, whatever. Either way, it's one source against another so we'll just have to wait and see when A2 comes around.

Talk about delusions of grandeur...

Thor would give Thanos more trouble than Hulk without the IG, he's more versitile. What can Hulk do to even trouble Thanos? Thanos is stronger, smarter. He'll have numerous ways to put Hulk down before he gets to a level of strength that can hurt him. Based on what we've seen from Thanos, and Hulk, no Hulk has the strength to even reach Thanos' damage threshold.

We know he is going to operate on a universal Scale. The IG has been teased, it's gunna happen more than likely.

The Avengers 2 has some sweet ass characters like Spider-Man and Wasp. I heard there will be more heroes and their biggest threat is Thanos (Which is seen at the end of The Avengers) and it focuses on the individual heroes. OH YEAH THAT'S HOW WE ROLL *****ES

I don't think it was meant to be taken seriously, it was just an easter egg. Thanos may be the upcoming villain, but that doesn't mean they're going to go straight for the Infinity Gauntlet story.

They really can do IG with the way things are now, it would just be a smaller story, so to speak. They were never going to have Thanos kill half of all life in the MCU anyway.
