This might be a shock, but a lot of these guys dont have any taste or know much about movies in general, they just run movie sites.

IM 2 syndrome? haha I love IM 2 I was just talking about it in here.

Very goot man!! :)

Joss Whedon said after the 1st Avengers came out that the sequel would be more intimate rather than a grand scale slugfest. it would be different.
I guess some critics just got used to the Marvel funfest it usually provides
and did not expect this film to be more intimate and serious

I'm not surprised, and for me i don't look at this as just a sequel to avengers but also to thor 2, iron man 3 and the winter soldier. So it's following the destruction of SHIELD, Iron Man's PTSD and Thor losing his mom and his bro (so he thinks). So I'm ready for that tone change, while still being entertained.

A mild case. :woot:

Nah I kid, Iron Man 2 is a terrible film, but i see what they mean. The set ups for future flicks is heavy enough that it detracts slightly (hence the IM2 effect).

The only criticism i see that worries me slightly is that it's being referred to as "messy". Because that's exactly what I thought when I saw the trailers.

I just checked Rotten Tomatoes and the majority of reviews are positive (24+/3-). 95% rating atm. So thats not bad at all.

The positive reviews make me excited, while the negative ones seem like confused viewers that didnt quite get it.

I dont usually listen to critics when Im interested in movies. Its just this is such a big deal for us fans, you gotta see what people think of it.
You say this, but I'm not sure you believe it. You and a few others seem way too invested into anything negative critics are saying about it.

I'm sure it probably is a little overstuffed, which is why I was hoping for a 2h40m movie instead of a shorter film than the first one. But I'm confident it will still be a blast to watch on screen multiple times. But there is a few things that I'm not looking forward to (the Bruce/Natasha relationship, all the Whedonisms, etc). But I'm willing to be proven wrong.

IM2 really isnt terrible at all imo. Man of Steel, now THATs terrible.

Solar: Im listening to critics on AOU because its a big deal to me, but if Im interested in a movie Ill go see it no matter what.

Neither movies are terrible imo. I just think IM2, although entertaining, was a bit of a waste of a movie and MOS was pretty good and had a lot of potential but just had a bunch of issues that stopped it from being great.

let's not forget that the cast of characters grew from the 1st one.
Not many directors can pull off a large cast film and still make a good film.

Ms Marvel: Your opinion of IM2 isnt mine. I genuinely like that film even with its flaws which really arent that bad. People are so hard on that film for no reason.

MOS has a super hero that is the worst in the live action realm. Superman is a joke to me. I dont know if Bats V Supes will change my opinion. Maybe.

IM2's main problems are it lacked a concise narrative or theme and the villains didn't feel as tied into Tony as in IM1.

Dunno if it's been mentioned but Jeff Sneider from The Wrap wrote his thoughts on twitter. He's not really a critic though.

Not really spoilers but it does touch upon aspects of the film. It's layout is bottom to top.

I don't agree with his comparison to Daredevil. Although the tone is different, a TV show has 10+ hour long episodes to develop story and characters, his comment was a bit unfair imo.

That's what I like hearing so far. I've yet to see a review where they mention the large ensemble being a problem.

Im not gonna try to explain IM2, its pretty self explanatory if you just watch the movie. How many times have you guys watched it?

To cut it short its: Ivan Vanko/Justin Hammer/The government/arc reactor poisoning vs Tony Stark.

Fun banter, decent action, good acting, nicely paced. It works for me.

I still enjoy IM2. It's my least favorite of the MCU and i think all the faults people find in it are legit, but i still had fun.

Iron Man 2 has the same problem most comic book sequels fall victim to, in that they put in way too much stuff and too many characters, so the narrative felt really shaky and unfocused as a result.

My least fave MCU film is Thor 2. But I havent watched it since the theater.

I guess Im the only IM2 fan here. Thats ok with me. I watch it every time its on TV. It just entertains me

I liked IM2 quite a bit as well. Is it one of the weaker MCU films? yeah I'd say that. I think TDW and TIH were worse, but I think it was an important transition film to go from the first Iron Man into the more spectacular parts of the MCU.

Marvel Studios IMHO hasn't made a bad film. They've made some better than others, but I felt all were enjoyable. I was a bit disappointed at TDW, because I feel that franchise has way more potential than what's been presented so far. Hopefully Ragnorok is a home run.

Personally, for me, the only films from Marvel Studios that I view as being Great/Memorable are: Iron Man 1, The Avengers, Winter Soldier, and Guardians of the Galaxy.

I consider Iron Man 3, The First Avenger, Thor, and The Incredible Hulk to be good

Iron Man 2 and Thor 2 are what I call somewhat of a mess.

Right. Getting back to the point, IM2 is largely considered by many to be a disappointment and one of the weaker entries in the MCU due to how much it seems to set up future entries in the franchise rather than creating a stand alone story that manages to top it's predecessor while still moving the saga forward.

I don't know but if you ask me, I'd be disappointed at Marvel if this were the case, at this point they should have this really locked down by now.

I actually like IM2 since it's fairly enjoyable except when it stagnates with Tony being forced into house arrest until he comes up with a new element and being separated from the rest of the movie. Everything picks up fine in the final act besides how they decide to have Whiplash go out in the final confrontation, which goes to my point of the villains being a main weak point in that film.

Well its definitely not an IM 1 topper by any means. But for me its a fun follow up. I dont have any major problems with it. The more I watch it, the more Im fine with how it worked out with Hammer using Vanko to build drones, while hes secretly making his own plans.

Terrible movie? I disagree with that. Its a good movie that couldve been a bit better with some tweaking.

I dont want to keep harping on this. I keep saying I like it and everyoine else is saying they dont etc. I get it. Lets get back to AOU. :)

That's pretty much the mainstream opinion. :funny:
I'd agree though although I still enjoy IM2 and TDW. I'd put TIH in the same category as them as well.

Amc crew non spoiler review up on YouTube they lived it. I'm getting a vibe that this one might be one that truly requires multiple views to truly appreciate.
