You know what though the fact Marvel studious seems to have yet another "good" film under their belt is the real amazing feat regarding this film, it isn't easy making good movies, hell it isn't even easy making mediocre movies, the fact Marvel Studios can churn out a film while juggling tons of other projects in the future and make another hit is crazy to me. Maybe they just didn't over see this one that much and let whedon go nuts lol. Just said yes too all the crazy stuff Whedon came up with lol.

It's not a bad movie by any means. It's just not as together as it could have been. At worst you'll be entertained I think. Repeat viewings is questionable for me however.

It's interesting that after a few months of Avengers release Whedon said that the sequel would be on a smaller scale and more "inner exploration of the characters". This movie (from what I have heard) doesn't quite give that impression to me.

OK Visions, let us know what you thought spoiler free please.

Ok....

It is not as good as the first Avengers, but thats ok because that was a masterpiece. The film slows down a lot in the second act but really ramps up for the final act. I feel the whole Bruce/Natasha romance could have been avoided to be honest.

Thor stood out for me. Cap was a letdown.

The Vision was incredible, just wish he had more screen time.

8/10

Visions: Thanks. I see what youre saying. Im hoping on repeat viewings people see things they missed on the first watch.

I think the movie suffers a bit in the same what TDKR suffered, there's a lot going on and not enough time to tell the story properly. In lesser hands this film would be terrible.

Jesus. Getting confused by each reaction. I am a broken record, but I'm going crazy with more flaws being singled out than say IM3 & TDW, yet the film still receives a "entertaining at worst/one of Marvel's best" type-response.

I'm gonna try and catch it tomorrow. Head hurts.

it had flaws yes, but in my opinion this movie sets up most of the upcoming phase 3 movies perfectly

I hope its better than TDKR I really dont like that movie. But I get what people are saying, a lot of spinning plates all at once and some drop.

See thor better

I don't see why everyone is complaining about thor and Cap was a let down
Hell No

Hey guys, just got back from seeing it for a 2nd time, and it's much better the 2nd time around.

I could just sit back and enjoy the movie, didn't over-analyse, followed the action better (was in 2D), and understood things i missed last time.

I highly recommend seeing it more than once. It was a 9/10 first viewing, but now it's a 9.6, and it is the kind of film that will remain entertaining after repeat viewings (Avengers 1 suffers a bit with each rewatch).

So having seen it twice, be mindful of those who come here with negative appraisals. I was somewhat critical a few days ago when I first got back, but I feel reborn now.

I wasn't fighting the movie this time, I just went with it and loved practically every minute of it!

Cheers guys.

What a great selling point for Marvel. I can hear Kevin now.....This is a movie you "have" to see more than once. :woot:

I only got one question. As a Hulk fan I'm interested in the answer.

Was Betty referenced in the film? I am not a fan of the Hulk/Widow relationship. I don't get why Whedon of all people who is this major feminist would give the only female on a team a story arc that deals with her being in a relationship with another guy on the team.

But hopefully it doesn't last.

no Betty references, but then it should come to no surprise since very little of the Norton movie is referenced at any point about Ruffalo's Hulk anyway. they did reference Jane and Pepper though, positively. so maybe they're just sidestepping the whole Betty thing so that people focus on Bruce-Natasha

i found this to be MUCH better than TDKR (no comparison really). there are some bright and shining moments in TDKR but overall felt disjointed. its like Nolan had the flu while editing it together and it just felt meh.

somebody used the analogy of Star Wars and Empire. yeah that comparisson is better, except Empire doesnt suffer from "density" issues.

^^ True. We have to be realistic about our expectations. Also often with movies you cant get into the different rhythms right away. On repeat viewings it may smooth out and be even better of an experience.

EVERY MOVIE has flaws even Avengers 1

What matters is what those flaws are, how obvious they are and what effect they have on the film. You can't just give films a pass by saying every film has flaws.

Every other review I read of AOU is like "I felt dissapointed after it was over but it was great 8/10".

???

You are right but in the end, the "flaws" are subjective so to some people it will hinder their enjoyment tremendously to others it will be just a nitpick they can overlook.... plenty of raves out there that still state the flaws.

Edit: A good example personally for me is Guardians, I feel Guardians has some flaws a lot of people don't talk about, but to me....I can easily look past them because the good is so good to me that I can personally let some of the weaker moments slide.

General complaints seem to be it doesn't capture the magic of Avengers one, the Widow/Hulk thing and that it's very fast paced.

The headaches man.... Gah I don't know what to believe. "Really disappointed, such a messy plot and dialogue was awful. Could've been so much better. 9.5/10".

Its like rave review...dissapointed but still a good movie 8/10...rave...its not as good as A1 but 9/10. I just want to see the movie myself. I cant read anymore of these.

I think most people feel disappointed because they simply expect too much which is normal

Me myself enjoyed it and i thought it was great and also meet my expectation but there are some scenes which I think are unnecessary
for me, it feels like an advertisement for phase 3

It was good but could have been better. The plot was a bit all over the place but the epic moments more than make up for it.
