Yeah that was mighty cool of him to say that at end, I don't see how anyone could think this film isn't going to be a box office smash hit.
Definitely has the most going for it out of all summer films. Huge disaster film, great characters, big stars, and superheroes. Also, 3D is a draw to some people

I might be being overly optimistic, but I'm definately convinced that The Avengers is going to gross over 1 billion dollars world wide.

I was convinced it was going to cross a billion from the FIRST trailer, I'm pretty sure by now it's as if it's just "going to happen."

I predict that if you feature Loki a lot the fangirls will come.

He is featured quite heavily in both trailers.

I think so too, but I made the prediction of 900 mil WW and I hope the movie will exceed my expectation; I very much would like The Avengers to become one of the highest-grossing movie of all time.

Same here

I think if TA really does gross over 1B, we might even get to see JLA on the big screen because not even WB will want to lose an opportunity to make big bucks. So it'd be a win-win situation for all comic fans if that happens.

The fangirls are already lining up, if Tumblr is anything to go by. Every time a trailer, poster or photo(s) relating to the movie is released, Tumblr blogs go wild. My dashboard is full of wonderful Avengers gifs. All of the characters have big fanbases, not just Loki. I'd say that Tony Stark/RDJ has the biggest following of them all.

For the JLA to be made, WB will have to get rid of the people who believe that the characters should all exist in their own cinematic universes in which there are no other heroes. Nolan believes this, as does Snyder, and Nolan is in control of the Superman franchise. He has enough clout at the studio to keep the single-hero format going for another five to ten years, if MOS is a hit.

I'm not suprised, it only makes sense if you think about it.

Hopefully this turns out to be the case, because I'd also love to see a JLA movie and I'll be there to see it opening day as well.

If MoS is a mega hit, like Batman style, then WB won't need to make a JL movie/franchise.

It's not going to be though, I see it doing similar numbers to THOR especially since Superman Returns didn't even do that much (world wide).

I'm not sure. The power of the trailer is strong. Zack Snyder will produce some amazing visuals and his trailers are always awesome.

If MoS trailers are anything like the latest Avenger one, people will be interested.

Problem with Superman Returns was, all the good **** was in the trailer. The plane rescue was the best part of the entire movie and they showed pretty much all of that sequence in the trailer.

That's true but after Superman Returns I have a hard time seeing MOS doing anything more than THOR numbers, which wouldn't be a bad thing because 450 million is nothing to sneeze at.

He's really only had one mega-success so far in the Batman franchise - tdk (of course he will have tdkr). BB was the same level of success as CA:TFA

BB made more than CA: TFA.

Again you're forgetting the 3D + inflation.

Well could say that for just about any older film and he said BB was a success on the same level as CA:TFA, not that made the exact same amount of money.

Oh and if you're gonna adjust for inflation you might as well adjust the budget while you're at, which would make BB cost a heck of alot more than CA:TFA.

BB: $372 million worldwide
CA:TFA: $368 million worldwide

Adjusted figures aren't available on boxofficemojo.

Adjusting for inflation is a double whammy, because sure the film's gross is gonna rise but the cost of the film is gonna rise as which makes the film no more successful as it was before.

Excellent point.

Plus adjusting for inflation doesn't take into account that overall attendance has gone down between the release of BB and CA, as piracy has gone up, and other avenues for entertainment splinter the attention of the GA. That always annoys me when people say "adjusted for inflation, Gone With The Wind made six trillion dollars!" or something. Back then movies would play for years. And there was no TV, or cable, or video. You could see the movie in theaters, or not see it, period.

My point exactly

It's funny how you only mentioned what I said about inflation, ignoring the other thing that gave Cap a big boost... 3D! of 20-25%!

So yeah... BB made more.

That's illogical. Perhaps the point you are trying to make is that BB sold more tickets because of lower prices, but it only made $4 million more than CA:TFA. As noted, adjusting for inflation isn't really meaningful.
