The Avengers doesn't have much competition for over a month. Unlike Spidey.

On the surface, it APPEARS that The Avengers does not have a lot of competition .
We dont know for certain until the movies are released .

True. However, I think the odds of serious competition are fairly low. Dark Shadows is different enough that it won't significantly overlap unless it turns into a mega hit. Battleship. . . could be an issue, *if* it manages to be a really good spectacle movie *and* overcomes its inherent challenge of "based on a board game."

I'm not even 100% sure MIB3 will be much of anything. Yes, Will Smith, but the franchise has not been relevant in quite a while.

Ditto. In fact, I hate romance movies, and everytime there is a romance in movies of this nature, I can just role my eyes at it. But, the romance done in Ironman and Captain America wasn't so bad, maybe because the chick was actually needed.

Really, all raise your hands if you thought Transformers franchise could have been better without a stupid love story in the middle of it.

Really, Megan Fox is the only thing I enjoyed about the first two TFs. Bee-Sting Rosie, though, creeps me out big time.

Otherwise, I was just dragged along by my boy who wanted to see his toys come to life. He liked TF, when he was 5 or 6. Now that he's 10, Transformers bore him almost as much as they do myself.

Not when you consider the competition. There may be some speed bumps here and there, but no real heavyweights. By the time one comes along it will have done the majority of it's damage.

A billion is a strong posssibility in my book.

Hell, *830* million WW would make it Marvel's movie champion to date. That would be enough to bump it ahead of Spidey to claim the Marvel box office title uncontested. That, in and of itself, would be a SPECTACULAR result for Avengers. And would also put it at #2 in the superhero genre.

I guess there's just a lot of people here who won't be satisfied unless it beats TDK's billion-dollar mark. Me, I'm not aboard that Marvel vs. DC (more like Marvel vs. Nolan's Batman) bandwagon....I'd be *very* happy to see Avengers just beat Sam Raimi's Spidey trilogy. Phenomenal numbers if that happens.

Actually $890 + million is the number for the Avengers to beat and become the top dog (if you don't factor inflation of course). I think it will get there.

No its not, any movie that crosses the billion dollar mark should be considered to be obscenely successful. There's a reason only 10 movies have crossed that mark. Hell there are only 46 films in the entire history of cinema to make more than $700 mill. I think TDK's success skewed a lot of people's views on what makes a commercially successful CBM. I'll be more than pleased if Avengers gets over 800 mill. More than pleased
