The Avengers The Avengers Critics Reviews Thread - Part 2

So Ebert, fanboys don't deserve decent movies?

Where does all this resentment toward fanboys come from? Critics are more respectful toward Twilight fans.

Maybe critics hate the fact that fanboy projects have taken over Hollywood and film snobs like them are forced to watch in horror year after year. lol!

Technically, Ebert can still rate it as rotten if he wants to, right? Because there was another 3/5 review that was classified as such. Hopefully this will be fresh in RT.

No, Ebert's review wasn't a 3/5, he rates out of a possible 4.

The Ebert review was lazy and condescending.

I'm starting to lose respect for the guy.

It's like he hated himself for liking it. Just embrace your inner-geek, Roger. You might like it.

Ebert uses a 4 star system. 3 stars for him is positive. Its curious Armond White's hasn't been added yet.

Some of you are being a bit harsh on Ebert. He liked it, who cares if he wasn't drooling over it.

I don't care that he wasn't drooling over it, it just wasn't a very good review. He was never that great, just well known, and he's gotten positively lazy recently. There is barely any criticism in the review at all. It's poorly structured and condescending to boot.

Armond White isn't on RT anymore, so his review won't be affecting the score. His old paper either folded or fired him (don't remember), and his new publication isn't big enough to be used on RT.

I gotta give Armond White credit.

Few trolls troll so hard they make a career out of it.

I agree that this particular review wasn't that great in terms of writing, not praise, but I can't stand when fans cry bloody murder when someone doesn't love "their" movie.

I had no idea Almond Plight was ousted from the publication he worked for and Rotten Tomatoes. That's actually sort of sad. :(

Im sure he has a rich home life and friends who admire him and enjoy his company.

I expect some insight from a legendary critic.

Instead Ebert rests on his laurels and gives a review worthy of a teenage jock.

"These films are all more or less similar, and "The Avengers" gives us much, much more of the same."

I'm sorry but that's exactly the game The Avengers plays, much to our favour.

Don't want to harsh on Ebert. He's done this a long time and he's an expert in his field.

However, at the same time I thought was a weak review. I'm glad he liked it but he just didn't seem like he really cared enough to actually review it. It was for the most part a plot summary with a few passing commentary tidbits. Not much of a review.

A "speech failure" ? In reference to Ebert's speech failure? Nice.
