It was mainly something that BigThor really wanted to see Thor do. I believe something he said he would be happy with the movie as a whole, as long as he got to see something LIKE this thing. He will be very happy indeed :P

Two and a half hours. After all this time I can't believe I will be seeing it soon! ARRGGGGHHH

I still have no idea what that is :csad:

Btw, happy to answer any questions but there are things I won't spoil just by principle because they were GREAT surprises. Joss Whedon's brand of humour is fantastic, so many hilarious little jokes, sight gags, etc. One of the best ones didn't even involve the Avengers or any main characters, no dialogue, but still got one of the biggest laughs in the movie, and there were a lot of laughs.

Seeing the midnight launch, everyone was cheering all the way through, the first time you see Cap, Thor, IM etc but what really annoyed me is that there's a scene where Hulk does something AWESOME/HILARIOUS and everyone burst out laughing and cheering and then Hulk said something and everyone missed it. All we could hear was this huge, collective "Bahahahahahawoooahahahahahaaa...awwwwwwwwwwww"

Hemsworth is very good in the film, BigThor. You will be satisfied with that. He does come across as a God from another planet, for me at least. His voice plays a big part in that I think. Conveying his power, and weight of responsibility over Loki.

Given what we know, and certainly what we think we know, do anyone expect this film to somewhat turn out to be "underwhelming", given, we know so much, seen so much, and expect so much that may never reach our expectation?

Not talking about BO#'s....just the film and story itself.

There is a chance of this, sure. I felt this way about the Hulk - all I kept hearing is how Banner/Hulk steals the show and how fantastic they are but I did not see anything that made him stand out so much over the others. I attribute this to the unrealistic expectations we have built due to reports from the premiere. Don't get me wrong, he is great but not so fantastic that he overshadows everyone else so significantly .IMO ofcourse.

BTW the CGI in the movie is good and consistent but IMO does not live up to the stills we've seen. I will say one thing though - I cannot comprehend those who say that the last battle is short. By NO means is it short, it is epic as **** and a great length. On that aspect you will not be disappointed.

1. All I want to know is did Joss get Cap right both in character and appearance?

2. Was Evans performance better in The Avengers than it was in The First Avenger?

3. And finally how'd the suit look and were their awesome shield shot moment when Cap threw his mighty shield ?

As far as people wondering about their expectations not being met, it really depends on what your expectations are.

I mean, sure we saw a lot of footage from the trailers but there are at least 3 key and awesome fight scenes that totally surprise you and would satisfy EVERY Marvel fan and the NY Invasion scene does go for like 30-40 minutes, when we've probably only seen about 1:45 of it through all the tv spots and clips.

But the best endorsement I can give is that it is EXACTLY like a comic book, or to be more precise, a Joss Whedon comic book. To anyone who loved Astonishing X-Men, it's exactly like that. Great story, great fight scenes and most of all, great dialogue and characters scenes. I got just as much of a thrill from seeing characters like Banner and Stark talk shop and bond as I did from any fight scene. And no one character get's left out, it's like Superhero Firefly. You know who everyone is, where they fit in and how they feel about each other. You get at least one good scene with pretty much every character interacting and Joss Whedon does not waste a single moment of this film in any way at all.

So that's my endorsement. Don't go execting the second coming but if you go in like I did, wanting to see the Marvel comics come to life like never before, then you will be very satisfied.

1. I say yes. His conflict with Stark was logical given his world view, etc.
2. I rank his first go in the role high. I'd say he's just as good.
3. He throws the shield often. The suit looked fine in motion.

1) Yes, yes and yes.

2) Most definitely, a few great key scenes

3) I think there was only one scene or shot where the suit looked a bit odd to me, but by the end, I was looking at Captain America through and through.

The best thing I can say about Cap, without spoiling, is that a lot of people were worried about how Cap would sort of establish himself as the leader of the team. Well not only does that whole conflict of interested between Cap and Stark get handled very well, but something we didn't consider is how Cap will be seen by OTHER people. You get a few scenes where you see civillians and cops reacting to Cap and it was PERFECT. Exactly like a scene from the comics.

This isn't Ultimate Cap, this is 616 Cap through and through. You see Cap delivering orders and you're like 'Yes sir!' :P

That very good to hear AnneFan, I'll be seeing this film in 9 days from now and it can't come soon enough.

haha; well I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed seeing the Avengers. Given on how your views on the previous comic book films were similar to my own in both praise and criticism, I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed seeing the film.

Honestly, based on what everyone has said already, I think that I'll definitely love this film a lot:

1. Everyone gets their moment to shine
2. Well balance between drama and comedy
3. ALL OUR WAR-ZONE in the end of the film

What more could I want?lol

Amen. This is very important to consider here guys. Some people who haven't seen this are talking the film up like it's the greatest thing EVER and that's not the approach to take into this film. Go in expecting a good movie about the avengers and prepared to have your ass kicked. Go in there expecting your every wish and desire met and your experience may be affected in some capacity.

epic thank you you've just made my suffering of waiting till next week to see the midnight showing less unbearable. I can't wait to see my favorite Avenger leader the team.

i'v e read alot of critics and reviews ( here and also on other various sites) and most are well written and dont give too much away. most say that the concept holds together and that its really well done. now some seem to dislike the thin story (what a bunch of jerks when its clearly an action adventure scifi movie)...i mean the dialogs seem to be good the characters arent too 2 dimensinal so what more you can ask for?

is it a fact that the story aint very good? (not storytelling or arc...i mean the story itself without spoilers please:-)

The story is all it really needs to be for what it is, IMO.
Loki arrives, he wants to rule the place, he's taken in by Iron Man and Cap, held on the carrier, he breaks out and then the portal opens where the action really kicks off.

That said, I definitely felt like all my iconic Avengers necessary moments were met and exceeded. I mean, I can't think of a single thing I felt was really missing from the film except an immediate sequel :P

I mean hell, there is one scene

(not saying which) where something happened and I suddenly though 'What if Fury is a light model decoy in this scene?' just because it popped into my head. Turned out that was a far fetched idea and I felt silly... Then in like, the next scene, Stark makes a joke about them and I was like "AAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" :P

Also, this is me at the midnight screening :P

I just wore my hoodie and there was a guy in the full TFA Cap costume, completely authentic. He let me borrow his shield for this photo :P

@WolvieBoy and AnneFan - I've been seeing some mixed receptions of Thor's involvement in the final battle, some people say he's awesome while other say he doesn't have as many cool moments as others.

The thing about the story is, the overall pattern might seem predicatble, but what story isn't. I mean, it's superheroes, so obviously there is a setting, a complication and then a resolution.

But the journey there is anything BUT predictable. The stakes keep raising, things keep happening and you are on the edge of your seat the whole time.
