Because you take them out of context, I know. Batman Begins would have been a much poorer film if the first time he had met Ra's had been on the train, or if they had been enemies from the beginning.

Advice taken.

I give logic, I get gifs. Man.

Here's why I'm not convinced you respect me. I see the changes, and I see the potential in them to make Flash, as a story, even better, especially for television and a broader audience. There is nothing blind about it, it's highly disrespectful and judgmental to characterize it as so.
*shrugs* It just seems to me like some people are overly satisfied with anything they're given regarding this and Arrow. I'm not that easily pleased.

And, imho, being a diehard fan has the same effect of being a pessimist, because as things change, and they will change, the diehard fan who by definition supports something in spite of the opposition, no matter how logical or necessary or overdue that opposition is. So every change is bad. That is precisely pessimism. But even then, I question if someone is truly diehard if they support other changes, but all of a sudden on these, it's out of the question. Were they equally railing against lawyer ex non-super Laurel? Did the existence of Thea Queen and Ollie living at home make them livid as well? If not... I'm not convinced that the issue is diehardness.
Maybe so. I'm glad i'm not a diehard fan, it'd get too disappointing.
The Arrow analogy doesn't work. GA is not nearly as beloved a character as Flash is. I don't know any diehard GA fans, but Flash is a staple of DC mythology.
If logic is relative.... what are we talking about? What if I say your definition of diehard is illogical? It's all relative right? I can even support it with some BS rhetoric: Dictionaries change all the time, diehard fans don't have a problem when the panels change, so they don't have a problem with change, really.
I don't even.... diehard has a concrete definition as opposed to a person's opinion. Even you can realize that this last paragraph isn't valid.

ahhh I've been dragged in once again. Next i'm gonna have to answer to Sawyer dissecting my posts.

Let's get on with more important discussions though...

Oh and dude(tte), I got nothing but respect for you. We just disagree, doesn't mean i don't respect you. You're a comic fan, you're ok in my book.

I'm really worried about how they'll handle the superspeed. I'm sure they've given it a lot of thought, but still it worries me. If they don't nail that... then the show may flop...

Then again, the original series did it pretty well and that was 91!

Also, Jada just got cast in Gotham. I seriously can't wait for that show. Gotham, Arrow, and The Flash being on tv at the same time... are you kidding me.... that's so amazing. Hopefully it'll hold me over til 2016...

This is the CW. If you want a realistic take on youths growing up in an area where they feel they have no other choice to survive but to take to a life of crime, watch The Wire.
hahahahaha

When are we going to get to see the Flash suit? When does filming start? March?

Yeah, filming starts in March. I bet while filming Gustin will be wearing a robe between takes. I doubt we get an official look at the suit before SDCC.

Yeah, but it's a move I could see them making. There's already a lot of buzz surrounding the show, so I can see them keeping the suit under wraps until the biggest gathering in the comic world.

Or I could be completely wrong and they showcase the suit on some magazine at the beginning of summer in order to get people excited for the premiere in fall.

I think when Arrow released the first pic of Amell should be a decent indicator... but there's more buzz around this for sure

EDIT: it was March 19th

Well those last 5 or so pages escalated quickly. :cwink: I was hoping for some news or an update on the costume or something. Good news is that it seems they are moving forward full steam ahead.

I think they'll want to get a proper picture of the suit out there before anyone snaps some set pics of Gustin in it.

They didn't wait for ComicCon to show off Arrow's suit. They're not going to take their tiny little show up against the hype of Batman vs Superman, Guardians of the Galaxy, Avengers 2, Marvel Phase 3 annoucements, Fantastic Four, X-Men Apocalypse and other really high faluting comics stuff. Any CW annoucements would be totally, TOTALLY drowned out.

Just remember, logic also has a concrete definition, so again, unless I can say something is 'diehard to me' then I can't say something is 'logical to me.' Either it's logical or it's not. (EDIT: And "overly satisfied" is an opinion, but "Blind" is an insult. Use one and not the other if you'd like to show me that you respect me.)

I'm not nearly as interested in Gotham. It's going to have the same problem as Smallville before long, it's a prequel to something that you'll never be able to show. You can only lampshade things for so long. I'm sure the first couple seasons will be great. There's some really high powered talent on there in front of the camera. Behind the camera? Not quite so sure.

I'm also not worried about the superspeed on Flash. Smallville handled it half decent and that was only one of a dozen things it did regularly. I suspect they'll come up with some GREAT speed tricks. A lot of fun can be had by showing Flash just having already done stuff before you can look, what's in your hands is gone. And since there's no other speedsters, superspeed fight scenes are a non issue for the time being. That's what might get tricky, but even that can be handled very creatively.

Would it though? I mean, Batman Vs. Superman is Flustercuck right now. With the latest DCAU direct to video, Arrow and The Flash are the only things DC is really doing right... I wouldn't be surprised if they broke the suit sooner, but I anticipate the suit to be debuted during SDCC.

Then again, I could see them showcasing the suit in a magazine pictorial and just premiering an extended trailer of the pilot or even premiering the entire trailer to SDCC.

Luckily, it's Fox, so at most, we'll get like, 4 or 5 seasons out of the show... It won't go on forever, giving out dry handy's like Smallville.

LOL!!!!!!

I think they'd get a lot more buzz showing the Flash suit as part of the stinger for Arrow's season finale, than waiting until the middle of the Summer. I'm sure they'll be at comic con and reveal some good stuff about the show, but I think they should and will get the hype screaming sooner.

Oh you. :o

Lol that's what it comes down to eh?
That's hilarious and sad.
We're bickering over something soooooooo unbelievably trivial. It's hilarious to think about how much i deeply care for these characters....

Girlfriends in the past have known about my superhero obsession, but they just laugh it off and tell me it's cute... Really though... if they understood how far my obsession goes, it wouldn't be cute anymore

^^ You're in good company. :D lol

I've just found that John Wesley Shipp, the original Flash from old CBS tv series has joined the cast of new Flash, what role he is playing ?

It's a secret. Though a lot speculate the one and only Jay Garrick

It's just a guess, but it has to be Jay Garrick or maybe Barry's dad Henry Allen. Jay would be much more awesome

She doesn't look black black in that pic...skin's too light. Looks more latino black than anything, IMO.

Well Candice Patton's father is of European descent, so she is not likely to look what you describe as "black black".

Wally doesn't have to be black. Iris' mother could be white, and Wally could be Iris' nephew on her mother's side.

The Iris actress Candice Patton is half white anyways, so it actually fits.

That may be, but it should be remembered that actor ethnicity does not mean they will give the same ethnicity to the character.

But she's not actually a psychologist. She's studying psychology. We have no idea where Iris will end up when this series is all said and done. How many television reporters do you know of in their early 20's?

Why not wait reserve judgement for the final product? You have absolutely nothing to lose. Perhaps they made Iris a psychologist instead of a television reporter to further her from the Lois Lane, journalist angle? Perhaps being a television reporter didn't test well with focus groups? Maybe they just wanted to change things up a bit. In the end, as long as it works, what's the problem?

I wouldn't be surprised if lots of television reporters studied psychology in college. It helps to understand how your audience thinks.

On the other hand, there is also the need to make her "not Lois Lane". Although in some ways, the key to Lois Lane is that she is Clark Kent's work college. The reporter angle does play in a bit, but the college angle is the main draw.

Lois Lane is generally also the antithesis of the "childhood friend love interest". She is the true love our protagonist meets later in life. Smallville had them meet at a much younger age than almost every other story.

I don't know. the main difference that Iris had from Lois Lane in the comics was that she got married to Barry. They may feel that having Linda Park in this, they don't need two reporters. And obviously Barry is going to stay single for a while. Give it a chance. They may "Smallville" Iris and change her later.

Except Lois Lane got married to Clark Kent in the comics, so even that is not a difference. They may have done it with Barry and Iris first, but they did it with Lois and Clark as well.
