The Flash The Barry Allen/The Flash Thread - Part 3

If they are going to go big screen justice league with a Flash. It needs to be this Flash I was okay with Arrow out of the league because he's always been a outsider. As far as tv series go in this genre the only things above it is what is the animated shows that make up the DCAU. To me this creative team is getting up there with Bruce Timm's crew. From me that's high praise because those were the greatest comic adaptions I've ever seen and the ones I judge all other by.

Speaking of common sense, although the suit looks cool, the cowl doesn't conceal his identity the way it should, the face is too exposed. The police, the government... could easily uncover his identity with today's technology, is just dumb to pretend otherwise. That's why certain aspects from the comics need to be changed, to make sense in our world. The fanboy mentality of wanting everything to be like the comics is just shallow, you don't need yellow boots to call more attention to yourself and look even sillier.

Here's your perfect Flash costume:

1. It's gritty.
2. It's not silly (at least in our world).
3. Looks nothing like the comic book Flash.
4. It has eye protection.
5. Hard to uncover his identity.

PERFECT!

I think if people are that hung up on properly concealed identity and can't suspend belief for something like they, you need to just not read/watch anything comic related.

Only if they actually get a clear picture of him, which given his whole schtick is moving around at superspeed. . .

Regarding the identity thing, at the speed Flash runs and vibrates his body, it would be hard to uncover his identity even with tech.

It's beautiful :waa:.

Needs more realism...in a TV show about a man that can run at light speed

You're right, it should be silly to please a minority that want everything to look like a comic or cartoon. Is like Clark Kent's glasses, the dumbest disguise ever... they should fix it in the movies, afterall, everybody knows who Steve Rogers and Tony Stark are, Kal-El can handle it. :word:

I bet it's mainly a filming decision. White would stand out and be too reflective and distracting when hit by stage lights.

Some decisions are made because it's more practical to film. If he had ear wings, imagine how often they would have to fix them because they stick out.

LMAO @ the mental gymnastics people go through to justify ANY decision from the top. The ear pieces and white in The Flash logo can't be a part of the suit because they'd present a problem for the CGI/camera? Gimme a break. It worked fine over 20 years ago, and you can't tell me that with the technology we have today that THIS is the thing that totally throws the effects and visual board for a loop. :whatever: What's likely is that _____ costume designer wanted to put his or her visual flair on it for "creativity" (ego in this case) sake. These changes do NOTHING to make it more "realistic" and look inferior in terms of design to what's worked for the character for nearly 60 years.

This is why they released the photo. Out of context, it still looks better than the 90s suit.

The Flash moves too fast to be caught by a camera unless he chooses to be seen, and he's been known to vibrate his face so it appears as a blur if he's really concerned. The cowl in the comics seemed to do the job just fine and I always said that when The Flash kicks into speed mode his voice is augmented slightly in like a sort of electrical crackly way, not distracting, but like if a lightning bolt could talk (I know that probably doesn't make any sense but bare with me), just something to distinguish him from his regular Barry Allen voice a bit (I embellish this in my Flash movie ideas, as seen in my sig).

Wow. Well that's interesting. Lot of room for improvement but it's a good Mark 1.

And good point btw, I'm sure that's why they released the pic.

Clark has to always have a secret identity because the concept originated with him. If they did away with the concept for every other superhero Superman's should be the last to go.

That uh... uh...

I'm prepare to be jumped on, but this photo lowered my opinion of the suit a bit.

It looks so low tech... like it was thrown together by a teenager for Halloween.

I'm hoping that this is just something he scrapes together for himself at the beginning and STAR labs helps to get him into something a little better somewhere down the line.

But the mask looks great at least! The ear pieces definitely look much better than I thought they would.

I like Kevin Smith's post about Flash being too fast to be seen by a camera comes directly after the set picture of him. :oldrazz:

WHOA.

Those pictures are awesome.!!!!

Pretty much the same as the comics but with more texture (and less gold). With the right lightning/color correction in post it could look really really awesome. Gustin's head doesn't look so Sinestro in these pics.

Also, whatever doesn't work can always be changed. Happens all the time.

But as it is, I think it's at a good balance to satisfy fans while also not being too alienating to the CW audience. Keep in mind that Flash is a character that the GA doesn't take seriously. Once they get audiences on board, they can make it even more 'comicy'.

(and unless Gustin wins the audition for a Flash movie, they shouldn't make this in the same universe as the movies. It limits the potential of a Flash movie franchise, and movies are a bigger deal.).

Um, that's...okay? I feel like the belt area is a big missed opportunity.

It's sweet that you think there's actually going to be one in the foreseeable future.
