The Dark Knight The Batcave: The Official Thread

There should be a new batmobile for each film just like there's a new girl.

What was the whole reasoning behind not having a Wayne Manor/Bat cave in this film? I always thought it was kind of weird how Wayne Manor got burnt to the ground in begins, is it to just save money by not having to rebuild an improved cave or something?

this series isnt gonna be like a james bond series, its gonna be something like the spiderman movies, with characters from movie 1 apearing in film 2 and 3. i kinda liked when there was a new characters/girls in each film. i like continuity, but not just repeating old stuff. Burton wanted Returns to be different from B89 but still have the essence of the batman they had created in film 1. nolan looks like hes just keeping exactly everything the same except adding new villians.

yeah im pretty bummed out at this particular aspect of the new film series, we never get to see a full out batcave/HQ. wayne manor should not have gotten burned down in BB cuz now TDK takes place i guess a few weeks after BB and wayne manor is i guess still burned to a crisp and the batcave is FAR from being complete. LAME. they should have had the story take place maybe a month or 2 after BB and have everything built back up. with all waynes money it shouldnt hard to imagine him haveing a new mansion AND batcave in just a couple months, and he could have been chasing down the Joker for that time but never been able to catch him.

well, the girl is different, but the character is the same.
and I just love that Tumbler, they shouldn't change. and there's the batpod in the new one, which is a new thing that should please many fans.

Yeah you're right but since The new Batcave is a garage maybe he could have a couple of batmobiles in there.

i think the batpod thing will be made from damaged parts of the blown up tumbler. or is that just a rumour still....

I think it will "get out" of the Tumbler...like Scorponok get out of Blackout.
and yeah, there were a rumor saying that the Joker would blow up the Tumbler in some moment.

I don't know. I never saw the Tumbler as being particularly efficient in an urban environment. It looks cool, but I'd rather have something that looks like it could outrun cop cars, not evade them by driving on buildings and ****. I want to see Dodge Viper-esque stealth car.

wouldn't a small car like that practically kill Batman if he got in an accident though?

Yeah, or even go a step further and say grappling lines to travel by air and a small, fast motorcycle would be best since he's supposed to be as clandestine as possible.

We don't know how good of a driver Bruce is remember he was driven everywhere most of his life hehe

Have you seen Vipers? They're not exactly small. They weigh like 500 pounds less than a Jeep Grand Cherokee! I just want something in between BTAS and the 89 Batman, with it being more much subtle and functional. I like the overall look of the 89 Batmobile; just take off the curvy designs and chochtkys and make it look a little more real world and it would be pretty good. I guess I am saying I like the very raw design where the hood is large to accomodate a large engine, but that's it. I don't think the fins and stuff would work.

In the new trailer it appears to be some kind of underground garage or the like, incredibly well-lit and spacious. There is what looks like an off-ramp leading outwards, I presume as an exit for the tumbler and the new bike. Access to the room on foot seems to be by an elevator type affair which comes down out of the ceiling in the centre of the room. Is it likely that this new lair is in the basement of the Wayne Penthouse building where Bruce Wayne is residing in the meantime?

I actually like the idea of Batman's lair being in the city surrounded by unknowing inhabitants of Gotham as it adds a certain intrigue, but I guess it would be a deviation too far from the mythology if he didn't eventually move to the official Batcave under Wayne manor.

So Bruce had time to modify an existing structure to look like this and not be able to rebuild his own house?

I think this looks like it's under Wayne Ent. building like the department that fox was stuck in during Begins.

If that is the Batcave, than it sucks

It's temporary while he's living in the penthouse. Wayne Manor has to be rebuilt (with some improvements to the foundations). I'm thinking we'll see the new Batcave either at the start of the 3rd movie, or possibly (though less likely) at the end of TDK.

The batcave is underground though, would it have been effected by the fire from wayne manor?

It looks like a better lit version of the room he and Fox tested the Tumbler in. Remember, nobody ever goes down to applied sciences, it's a dead end. Why wouldn't Batman have his stuff there, it's where he got them from ... plus spare parts are always at hand. I really don't mind him having a place in the city, closer to the action, he doesn't have to go home and change after work, just go downstairs. Besides, if the cops keep seeing the Tumbler leave town and head down the same route they'll eventually figure it out.

He had a secret garage in the city in TAS too. He had his mechanic there and the whole deal. It was a Penguin episode, I'm too lazy to go find the specific one now.

but still, it is easier to put a garage close to where you live rather then live in the city then make an inconvenient trip all the way back to wayne manor

This is what I posted in another thread when someone mentioned the change to harsh white light for the new cave.....

yeah I was thinking about that too, it's an interesting choice because it seems so deliberate. I wonder what it's full efect will be in the movie. to me it already reinforces the whole knight and his camelot idea. In BB the city was dirty and dishevelled and his cave was an unknown and fearful place from which anything could emerge. Now the cave symbolises the stark reality of what protecting the city truly means. It's harsh, confining, severe, besieged by the chaos of the city around it...yet also an inpenetrable sanctum of power and hope....

but some noob mocked me by comparing my post to the imaginary projections of a high school language teacher :cmad:. his name was Sandouras

It's not a very big deal for me, I'd like to see the penthouse actually.

My prediction is we'll see the new and improved Batcave at the end. And I want that revelation to be built-up from the start of the movie, to make the revelation more dramatic.

oh ya i remember reading that

back to your topic, they have no reason to make it dark in there though. Would you want them to just dimm the lights to have it look cool?
