Which is absurd.

luke evans would have the same problem too.

I think Cronenberg is mad because his comic book movie (A History of Violence, which is very good) didn't light the world on fire like Nolan's Batman movies did. He definitely comes across as a total *****e in that interview. Pattinson, however, actually comes across pretty well.

Well I mean it isn't a comic book movie really. I would call it a graphic novel adaptation and even Cronenberg himself said he didn't know it was an adaptation until he was reworking the second draft of the screenplay. It did earn 2 Oscar nominations while winning a ton of other awards and personally is one of the better films I have seen in the past 10 years but yeah Cronenberg just needs to realize Batman is something that isn't his area. If he was making a Batman film at this point with full control he'd probably cast Robert Pattinson, focus on Batman's sex life, and have an NC-17 film...lol.

One of our insiders here on the board casually alluded to why someone like Bomer wouldn't get a lead role like that. He's out.
Last time I heard something this stupid from "insiders" here on the board was when they said Cavill was out for the same stupid reason. :whatever:

I wouldn't trust any "insiders" here on this board.

Cronenberg has some good films under his belt but also a lot of pretentious crap. he's free to not like superheroes and spout nonsense about how they're for kids but that makes me free to say he can eat a bag of ass holes and if he wants to talk about 'mostly boring' films one only has to look at his personal filmography. I think Nolan is twice the filmmaker Cronenberg is, Nolan will continue to widen the gap in the future, and I'm not even counting the Batfilms when I say that.

I know he's been brought up before, but I still think Matt Bomer would make a good Bruce Wayne / Batman.

Bomer is a little too nice and friendly looking. The actor who plays Bruce should have more of an edge to him.

I like Cronenberg and he's entitled to his opinions, but I've also found some of his movies to be painfully overrated. I have never, EVER understood the love for A History of Violence. I didn't find anything about that movie to be outstanding or shocking... it's just mediocre from start to finish. And I love Viggo Mortensen, Maria Bello, Ed Harris and William Hurt. But that movie did nothing for me.

Now if we're talking Eastern Promises and A Dangerous Method... I'll defend those movies to the death, along with some of Cronenberg's other films. But anyway... I feel like his little anti-Nolan rant comes off kinda petty, like he's pissed off and surprised that more people were interested in seeing a Batman movie than a movie where Robert Pattinson rides around in a limo all day.

this

Also, I feel like too many people who are all about "the art" or have some pretentious view of cinema are overly critical of movies that don't fit the mold they want them to to be considered great. For example, the year The Dark Knight came out, Slumdog Millionaire was named the best movie of the year, and The Reader, Benjamin Button, Milk, and Frost/Nixon were nominated. However, you ask millions upon millions of people across America, what the best movie that year was, they will tell you that it was The Dark Knight (or maybe Wall-E), so what was REALLY the best movie that year?

With her appearances in the Hush Storyline, The Long Halloween, Arkham City/Asylum, and BTAS, I think I'd love to see Poison Ivy done right. She's a great character with a lot of potential when written correctly.

the bad thing is, I really think with a different script and director, Uma could've been a really good Poison Ivy back then

Would anyone else really like to see a Vince Gilligan outline for a Batman movie? Then give it to Johnathan Nolan for scripting.

Sort of random.

But does anyone think if the role of the Joker was offered to Gosling, he would take it? Cause I feel he could pull it off, and surely no actor would pass up that opportunity!

Gosling's a good actor, but not good enough to justify this continued fanboy pursuit when he really clearly has no interest in doing these kinds of films.

He's not having it. Time to throw in the towel. :o

Well, I only thought of him cause I was thinking he looks like he could pull of the Joker's metrosexual style and androgynous look, with his tall, thin frame lol

Joel Kinnaman sort of comes to mind too for that matter!

never say never. ( i know i just said it twice)

don't see him as the type though.

Not for Joker. Dont think he would do it or be a good fit.

He's got the versatility imo. He's certainly surprised me over the years with what he can do.

I feel there's a certain level of potential in him to pull of someone like the Joker.

All he has to do is take his head out his ass, stop thinking he's either too good or something for a role in these type of movies and just have fun :o

WTF...
Gosling as Joker?!?!

Fanboys ALWAYS do this. Whoever the flavor of the month is, they fancast them in every single role, Gosling as Joker is a joke...I'm sorry...

Gosling as The Joker could be amazing... I'm sorry...

As much as I like Gosling I don't think he has the range or intensity to play a role like the Joker.

Gosling's head isn't up his ass, he's just not convinced he can act well against a green screen.
