The Batman Reboot Casting Thread

I thought Gordon as well, but I rather Gordon be/look younger than Keaton, which Bryan Cranston is perfect for in my book. :oldrazz:

As far as the next franchise is concerned, it's not a question of who will play Gordon. It's a question of whether Bryan Cranston will have brown hair or white.

Leave Cranston voicing Gordon in Year One...Him taking over from Gary Oldman would be a step down IMO.

I love Oldman as much as the next guy, and he really does look like Gordon and has the chops to be Gordon if Nolan ever wrote him better than he has been in the movies(not a knock, more of a missed oppurtunity for me), but Bryan Cranston is in no way a step down. I'll say he's a step up in looks, but they're on par with each other in terms of talent and awesomeness.

Don't get me wrong, I love Cranston, great actor. But Gary has done the role more than justice and its hard for me to find anybody else who I think can top his performance.

I miss Cranston as Hal in MITM :hehe:

i hope next reboot batman is more detective and stealth like in nolan's films he is more a warrior

I think they're stealthy enough if not too much as it is. Maybe TDKR will cancel out it's boringness from the past 2 movies.

Don't get me wrong, I like BB and TDK, and I appreciate the detective skills they incorporate into the Batman movie-verse, but I don't like that it pretty much replaced the visuals of Batman taking on thugs and villain(s) or made them look so boring and horribly edited/choreographed.

There needs to be a happy medium, and BB and TDK didn't find it in my honest opinion.

I hope in the next Batman film franchise that they don't retell the origin, and have Batman already established in Gotham City. Also NO rubber Batsuit.

What about Collin Farrell as Bats? I think he was cast as Batman in that Batman vs Superman movie years ago, but for an established veteran Batman, I think he would kick ass!!!!!
edit* hes a lot similar in age to Christian Bale than i thought he was..

I concur with this. - But as for the rubber suit, while where this wouldn't be my choice, if done in the style of watchmen I believe it could work again.

I think Cranston as Gordon is a must, it would be the biggest missed opportunity otherwise

Hmm.
As for the rogues' gallery, I have one suggestion, at the moment: Jackie Earle Haley. He is one of the few actors who can completely transform themselves for a role (another example being Gary Oldman.) For a wildcard - supporting hero or villain - Brad Dourif. It's a pity that the Batman Triumphant project was axed in the nineties: he could have made the Scarecrow terrifying as heck. And, he has a diverse filmography - he has played psycho's (Chucky films, Exorcist III,) and has played protagonists' well (Sheriff Lee Brackett in Halloween 2.)

I know I'm probably in the minority on this, but I want to see the Batfamily extended. Not the full roster of the comics right now, but I don't want Batman to be the solo emo loner full time.

The villains - Part I:

Carmine Falcone: Robert de Niro
Sal Maroni: Al Pacino
The Joker: Vincent Cassel
The Penguin: Joe Pesci
The Riddler: Edward Norton
Poison Ivy: Bryce Dallas Howard
Hugo Strange: Jeff Bridges - alternate: Christoph Waltz, his Austrian accent would lead to a Sigmund Freud-feeling which would be a good match to Professor Strange
Mr Freeze: Patrick Stewart
Mad Hatter: Philip Seymour Hoffman
Scarecrow: Bill Nighy

I'd love to see David Bowie as a Batman villain. Any thoughts (besides him being The Joker in a The Dark Knight Returns-movie)?

The villains - Part II:

Harvey Dent / Two-Face: John Hamm
Killer Croc: Michael Clarke Duncan
Ronan Sionis /Black Mask: Mads Mikkelsen
Alberto Falcone: Adrian Brody
Selina Kyle /Catwoman: Rachel Weisz
Mr Zsazs: Kevin McKidd
Ventriloquist: Bill Murray
Ra's al Ghul: Jeremy Irons

Besides David Bowie I'm looking for a way to incorporate Steve Buscemi in my villain gallery. Any ideas?

whoever plays the batman i hope they meke him a howard hughes type of millionaire that just happens to be away from the spotlight & prettymuch no ones ever heard his voice, just so batman dosnt have to fake his voice

If we HAVE to do another live action film (which i'd rather not have...I prefer CG) then Jude Law needs to be Mr. Freeze.

I'm with you there. Dick Grayson's story done right could make an excellent movie. But I hope to first see a loner Batman film that separates itself from the Nolanverse.

No. No no no no no no. Jude Law as Mr F. . . . wtf? If Jude Law were to be anybody in The Batman mythos it would be Harvey Dent. Maybe even Riddler. For Mr Freeze? I'd say Ben Kingsly or Patrick Stewart. Maybe even the bald guy from Syfy's Sanctuary. For a live action Mr Freeze I'd do him being his own "Frankenstein's Monster" with a sort of Darth Vader twist. You would never see him move his lips to speak. The only hints of him being alive would be his voice and the movement of the suit.
