i think they should go more on the worlds greatest detective side of the story and show how gordon and batman solve problems together but the rest of the gcpd hates batman

Wait, wait, wait... did you seriously just say Bradley Cooper for Batman? It's bad enough to hear rumors about him playing The Crow! I don't believe he could play a role like this, not sure why others seem too. The rest of your casting is good though, I especially like Jackie as Dr. Strange.

If I had to choose someone to replace Bale, I'd like to give Karl Urban a chance.

Batman-comic.jpg

Yeah i like the idea of Urban, I really can't see Cooper as Batman either, the Flash maybe, but not Batman.

Urban's a couple years older than Bale, so if he took over the role Batman would get continuously older, not unlike when Roger Moore took over James Bond from Sean Connery. Just wanted to bring that up, not that I'm complaining or anything.

That's the casting I was looking for. I can't believe I forgot about him. He got talked about during the TV show thing.

Bruce Wayne - Karl Urban
An Inspired Choice. He has the darkness, the action, the charisma, the build and the presence. He's come a long way from Chronicles of Riddick, my friends.
karlurban1.jpg

Alfred Pennyworth - Michael Caine
Great actor who has interest in reprising the character, brings with him the prestige of the Nolan films. Kind of a smart move, imho.
1.jpg

Lucius Fox - Andre Braugher
The tech has to keep rolling in. While not as big a part this time around, Lucius needs to represent, and that he does well. Braugher is one of the most underrated guys you'll ever see. He'd own this.
braugher2-sized.jpg

Jim Gordon - Bryan Cranston
Sure, I'll jump on the bandwagon.
bryan_cranston_15528.jpg

Leslie Thompkins - Helen Mirren
Obviously she can do anything, she can also be this sort of unflappable psychologist and former mentor of Bruce's. This begins to add the psychological aspect to the character, and serves as a link to Bruce's past and Grayson's present.
Dame-Helen-Mirren301.jpg

Richard Grayson - Dakota Goyo
In a realistic version, a key witness turned apprentice, rather than a sidekick. Also, our intro into the new Batworld. Keep the Robin stuff out until the kid grows up some, but a sort of gofer spy/scary kid could be a cool addition, and flesh out another side of Batman's character. The kid for Real Steel who played Young Thor is a very powerful little up and comer.

The Riddler/Edward Nashton - Jude Law
Going off the old FBI investigator gets caught up in his own bait persona, The Riddler should be here to mastermind brilliantly, and really show of the detective aspect of the Batman character, a little CSI, but mostly logic. To play this kind of mental monster, someone A list is needed. Jude Law, as overrated as he is at times, is pretty perfect for this, y'know?
judelaw300.jpg

Killer Croc - Michael Clarke Duncan
I know, MCD does everything for big guys. But ideally, Killer Croc here would be more than just a ranting lunatic. He'd be a conflicted monster, almost Hulk-like in a way, and that'd require acting talent only MCD has at this size. Also works as the killer for the Graysons. Alternately you could do Kristen Bell as a Joker-worshipping Harley Quinn. She also works as a circus killer, as well as a dark version of the psychologist to twist the concepts put forth by Thompkins.

Tony "Boss" Zucco -Jeff Garlin
Our new mob baddie, also works as an origin foe for supporting cast member Rich Grayson. Serves a similar function as Falcone and Maroni. Gets manipulated by Riddler, all that good stuff. Garlin's a bit odd choice, but the idea is to take a comedy actor and make them cruel, which makes their relationship/conflict with the child character that much more disturbing.

Oswald Cobblepot -Paul Giamatti
Arms dealer, not quite the penguin we all know, but important enough in the scheme of things when it comes to bringing the weaponry of gotham's criminals up to Batman-killing levels. He is a fourth tier villain in this story, like Mr. Earle or the Accountant. Giamatti can sell this kind of character without a lot of backstory, and can play up an umbrella with a blade in it pretty easily, and can reprise him as needed.

So what do you guys think?

Most people(not including myself) enjoyed Christian Bale's Batman and want him for the Justice League movie(s). The truth is, Bale, unlike Ryan Reynolds and Brandon Routh, who are real comic book fans, only wants to make money and won't be in any movie where he is not one of the two main characters. Imagine what he would do if there were at least seven others! After Batman 3, Bale is out. He'll be away from Batman forever(not the Joel Schumacher movie, but the character). Now post your ideas on who should play Batman in a Justice League movie and/or reboot. My pick is Henry Cavill for a Nolan-ized Justice League/future sequels and Sam Witwer for a reboot.

Jeffrey Donovan

He would be an awesome Batman.

^ Agreed. He's awesome on Burn Notice. But Sam Witwer is still my top pick.

Updated cast, still in the works.

Sam witwer for Bruce Wayne
Bryan cranston for commissioner Gordon
Brian bloom for black mask
Jon hamm or Thomas jane for Harvey dent
Benedict cumberpatch for scarecrow
Ed Norton for riddler
William fitchner for Mr. Freeze
Olivia Wilde for catwoman
Eric bana for ra's al ghul
Geoffrey Donovan for deadshot
Jim carrey for joker
Jackie Earle Haley for Mr. Zsasz
Bradley Cooper for clay face
Gary sinise for Thomas Wayne
Philip Seymour Hoffman for penguin

**update**

Rose Byrne for Martha Wayne
Terrence Stamp for Alfred

I'm having a hard time with Bane and Poison Ivy, I'm up for suggestions though.

Thomas Jane - Batman
Charlize Theron - Catwoman
Bryan Cranston - Commissioner Gordon
Ian Somerhalder - Nightwing
Mary Elizabeth Winstead - Oracle
Milo Ventimiglia - Jason Todd
Viggo Mortensen - Ra's al Ghul
Olivia Wilde - Talia
Javier Bardem - Bane
Jackie Earl Haley - Scarecrow
Christina Hendricks - Poison Ivy
Ralph Fiennes - Mr.Freeze
Michaela McManus - Vicky Vale
Crispin Glover - Joker
Kristen Bell - Harley Quinn

Been watching a lot of Kurt Russell movies as of late and he would be a great Commissioner Gordon.

Batman... um... why not Batman Beyond instead of rebooting it?

Basically why not keep Nolan-verse and just jump years into the future? Escalation is part of the dark theme portrayed in the series. It has the possibility of being a much darker film as well. A world "without" Batman. It'll also allow Nolan's franchise to end while not introducing a new one that tries to compete with what he did - rather, an entirely new take on the mythos.

Originally wanted Paul Newman, but Eastwood was always my second choice. Brings gravity to the role.

nicholas-hoult.jpg

Everyone wanted/wants Will Freddie for the role, but one thing to take into account - he's 35 years old. Just two years younger than Bale. And the character's a teenager. Hoult isn't a "new face" either, he marveled fans with his take on Beast and can next be seen as Jack the Giant Killer. Plus he looks the role.

Someone who can steal the spot light out from under Bruce Wayne. An old competitor that can go toe to toe with him while still intimidating Terry McGinnis. Originally thought Cage, but lately... Isaacs seems like he can bring it all.

Possibly even:

return-of-the-joker.jpg

An older Joker, an older Hammil - what's not to love about this possibility? It'd also allow a familiar villain for general audiences.

Why reboot and compete with Nolan when we can just jump forward in time?

If they got a creative team on par with the people who worked on Begins and the Dark Knight, then a Batman Beyond movie would be kick-ass. It HAS to have really talented actors to sell the premise for one thing. It'll be hard to top Gary Oldman, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, Tom Wilkinson, Liam Neeson, Christian Bale, and Heath Ledger though.

One change I might make, and I'm not even certain on it, is not having old man Bruce be a physical presence. He could leave his legacy/money to Terry some how, and provide guidance through recordings or writings.

With Batman Beyond, you effectively get rid of THE Batman as well as most of the rogues gallery that has made the franchise appealing.

I wouldn't necessarily be opposed to it, but the wealth of characters at bay have hardly been utilized yet to justify a new franchise that moves on from them.

Actually... a lot reappear in some form or have grown more powerful since it's dealing with a world without Batman - where he upped and quit, allowing the bad guys to, more or less, take over Gotham City. And not necessarily "get rid of" - just move on to allow more time to pass from Nolan's films rather than starting over again so soon in some sense.

But the bad guy's don't take over. By the time Bruce retires, they're all well handled. Only Mr. Freeze, Ra's Al Ghul and Joker endure. It's a different story, a different hero. It's not a continuation, it's a spinoff.

Just saying unsure how a reboot will handle following so close on the heels of Nolan.

That's basically the risk they ran when they made the original show, that in a lot of ways it was Batman-in-name-only. They made up for it by making it a really cool show with the occasional nod to established Batlore.

I don't see a Beyond movie getting made now. I think they missed their window.

I wonder how the success or failure of Amazing Spider-Man will affect the whole reboot decision.

There was also the fact that Beyond was made at the same time as the actual Batman series, making it much less of a risk so they could have their cake and eat it too.

A Batman Beyond movie is, more than likely, not going to work. People go to Batman movies expecting to see Bruce Wayne, not a teenaged successor.

Great pick.

Well, I think the major problem is that no one, not even the movie execs, know the real and final ending of The Dark Knight Returns. We simply don't know if Bamtan's going to live or die, or what the state of Gotham or... well... anything. So plans to reboot are pretty high up in the air.

If Batman doesn't die, then you can do a soft reboot, or a reboot that's not really a reboot at all. If Nolan sets up the status quo to continue, then rest assured, WB will fall right in that line and retract their reboot plans and continue the stories that Nolan started.

Now, if Batman dies, or Nolan otherwise leaves the series 'uncontinuable' then WB would be in a bit of a pickle. That's hard to capitalize on. The Batman Beyond story, as you know, wouldn't work, because it requires Bruce be alive. they'd have to reboot, but keep enough of Nolan's series to carry that prestige without having people "but, wait, I thought Batman was dead." OR take the franchise in a new but equally appealing direction (a crapshoot).

So, in short, we're all unsure, so are they.
