The Batman Reboot Casting Thread

Yeah, let's swap Oscar-winner Christian Bale for the *****e from the last J. Lo movie.

I hope Bale plays Batman for the next 10 movies that feature the character, just because it will annoy the whiners.

I hate to be lame, but I think their best bet for the next Batman is to cast an unknown. I've thought about this for a long time (Seriously. I day-dream alot), and I can't think of anyone off the top of my head who I'd like to see in the role.

Jon Hamm will be too old by the time they reinvent the series following TDKR, and I doubt Fassbender is a realistic prospect. And no disrespect to anyone in this thread, but I haven't fallen in love with any actors proposed in this thread.

I say surprise us.

The only casting choice I am dead-certain on is Bryan Cranston as Jim Gordon. A perfect match like that doesn't come along too often.

I'd absolutely love Cranston for Gordon.

Do you have any clips of Jon Hamm that make him seem like a good fit for Batman/Bruce Wayne? I've been digging on YouTube every time I've seen him suggested here in the last few years, and I seem to be missing what the hype is about. Is it just because he has a large build and a square chin, or what?

And he has a perfect look for the role, in both face and body....

I don't really agree. That doesn't look anything like Bruce Wayne to me, looks more like a stereotypical glorified Cuban pop star. The expression he's making seems phony and whiny to me.

LOL, Cuban pop star. I see it, in that picture at least. I find the guy hot typically (on Hawaii 5-0), and he's at least a decent actor from the other roles I've seen him in, but he's no Batman.

I don't have any clips on-hand, but I suggest you watch Mad Men and The Town.

Love people's ideas for MAckenzie Crook as The Joker. Did a manip of a larger version of this image:

Here she is.

The guy's face has "JOKER" written all over it, that's for sure.

But his voice doesn't really work for me.

I think his voice could be made to be quite twisted and altered to suit the role. He usually has small roles but he does really well acting wise.

Just updated the pic to one I'm happier with.

What about Karl Urban as Bruce Wayne? I don't kno why but I get a Bruce Wayne vibe from him. I'm not sure about batman, but I think he'd be a great Bruce Wayne.

Honestly, as of right now, I have no idea. I know it will happen in a couple of years, but I really don't know who I'd like in the role yet. I'm more in a Marvel state of mind right now. :oldrazz:

Same here, which why I've been in the DC forums less. I still love both, though.

He's got a dark and sexy quality about him that's absolutely riveting. Most importantly, it's nothing short of effortless. He can hold a conversation just by nodding or uttering monosyllabic words. If anything, this is the one quality Keaton had over any Batman to date -- speaking with their eyes and their presence.

The Batman I'm most familiar with is the one who only speaks when necessary. And when he does, you're magnetized by what he has to say. In all other cases he's a pure mystery.

This is more of a gag and an exaggeration of the symbol he's become, but it's an apt summation:

It's a shame he's already in his prime years making him a non-candidate for a new series. If it's any consolation, hopefully whoever the new actor is can take a few pointers from the likes of Hamm, in how to portray a brooding and isolated playboy. It would be a nice departure from...whatever Bale's been doing. :o

John Hamm would be too old.

And Bale will probably be a brooding and isolated playboy in TDKR.

I give you James Patrick Stuart. You know him from Seinfeld as Elaine's boyfriend who had to stop every time "Desperado" played on the radio. He's got a dark, mysterious tone to his voice, and he has the playboy billionaire attitude, as well as the dark, brooding animal luster that would sit in the corner of the Batcave. Bonus points for somewhat looking like Christian Bale.

I want to see smartass and slightly uptight Batman. I am sooo sick of DARK AND BROODING GRITTY GRR FRANK MILLER. Bleh, just makes him seem like an emo *****.

I like Hamm, but I can't see him as...any comic character. Maybe Lex Luthor, as he did well in the spoof.

Batman's a dark, brooding, gritty character. Well at least Bruce Wayne is as Batman. The smartass thing is more so Dick Grayson or Terry McGinnis's schtick.
