Bumblebee The Bumblebee Spin-Off Official Thread

Surprised that we can actually see John Cena in this movie since his catchphrase in WWE is "You Can't See Me!"

:o

I actually like Michael Bay and his body of work, but the "Transformers" movies are easily his weakest and most erratic efforts (next to "Pearl Harbor"). This trailer goes on to show that all you need is a talented filmmaker with a clear focus on the story and characters, who keeps it simple and manages to tell a satisfying story. Of course I don't know if that's the case, but the trailer is very promising, and a great example that sometimes... less is more. Travis Knight is an incredibly talented filmmaker, and it seems like he has a clear and effective vision for this "Transformers" movie.
It's the first movie of the franchise I'm anticipating. Well done (so far).

P.S.: I didn't grow up with the "Transformers" cartoon, so I can't share the same excitement about the G1 designs, but I definitely prefert these simpler looks to the overdesigned monstrosities from the previous movies.

Wow. Didn't expect to see Cybertron stuff and G1 designs. Looking really forward to this!

Very curious to see how much of Cyberteon we’re gonna get. Really hyped for this movie, love seeing the G1 designs.

Loved that trailer and yes even as a fan of the previous movies those G1 designs look great. CGI is a little spotty but not awful or anything, really looking forward to this.

Actually interested in a Transformers film again, after two trailers.

The vehicle to vehicle transformation of the two Cons was really cool. Some really neat visual shots in this.

I'm secretly hoping this is a soft reboot that'll erase the Bay films from existence.

By that trailer alone, it looks like they are re-setting the landscape as if this was the first time on earth. I just hope Prime doesn't leave it all to Bee to sort out. :funny:

So BB wasn't fighting the Third Reich alongside his cigar chompin buddies as Bay told us?

Is it confirmed that Megatron is in this? I'd prefer it if he is just teased in this film. Just mentioned or only seen at the very end just before the credits roll. Have him arrive on earth in the next film.

And treat Unicron like the MCU treated Thanos.

Loved the trailer. Based on the cybertron shots, it looks like Prime and Soundwave have been on earth already as they have their 'earth disguises'.

Seeing these shots actually makes me physically angry to watch the Bayformers versions.

Oh god YES!! The next shot from that screencap when the camera switches back to Soundwave, you can see Shockwave and crew there as well. I think Prime will be captured or otherwise incapacitated on Cybertron.

There’s also a shot in the Russian trailer of Prime slamming a jet Decepticon into the ground. I hope it’s Starscream.

You just know when this movie is out on home release, somebody’s gonna edit “The Touch” into the Cybertron scenes.

Finally saw the latest trailer and... While I do think there is a lot that just looks as I imagined a live action TF film should... The lead actress doesn't come off well in the trailers so far and if BB isn't a speaking character then I have to say that's just a reprise of an aspect of the Bay films I never saw any charm in. So, while the peek at G1 styled CGI coolness is great and all, I think this still needs more to sell me.

They kept him voiceless to maintain that Spielberg whimsy. Though if he's been damaged for decades their technology can't be that advanced.

Presumably it'll depend on whether or not this is canon to the Bay films. If it is, then Megatron is frozen in the ice, and has been for quite some time.

I liked it and i'm kind of interested.
I had jumped out of the Transformers train a long time ago. It was just a toxic mess.

This Bumblebee movie has a lot of vibes from the first Transformers movie but with much more heart. The hot chick and crazy guy routine is gone and it's instantaneously better for it. Now it revolves about a nice girl and the relationship with the robot seems sweet and endearing.

Another good thing i noticed was how the robots looked. It's a more natural, old school look rather than the mess we had previously. We can also understand what's happening and that's a big plus. The stuff i didn't like was the hole military aspect with Cena, capturing the robot, meeting in the desert .. it felt very much like the same old stuff and i'll pass on that.

It kind of reignited the interest in the franchise but i'll wait for more stuff to really jump on board.

I also don't care for the mute Bumblebee thing. It was dumb 10 years ago, and it's dumb now.

I definitely like some of the fan service and designs, but I'm reserving judgment until I see a final product. I've been burned by this franchise too many times before.

Why couldn't they go with those designs in the Bay films though?

Yeah I definitely get that. Some of this just seems like bits and pieces rehashed from the previous movies. Basically, it's like they smooshed part 1 and part 4 together.

Just for example, will the Autobots and Decepticons actually have personalities this time instead of just big weaponized robot plot devices who can speak barely comprehensible dialogue?

If less is actually more.
