When Batman makes good on his escape somehow he's got to get this message to Superman: "Round One."

You know we haven't really seen a confident and cocksure Batman in live-action, yet. One who's so in tuned with his surroundings that nothing fazes him because he's already accounted for it.

Not bat-god levels, but enough where it's almost sinister.

"You've just lost round one" would be an incredibly bad-ass line to hear from Bats. I know I'd go nuts in my seat.

I love Supes, but even I don't have a problem with Batman "beating" him per se. My problem has always really been with the actual mechanics in story, neutering Superman's intelligence, or just plain doing ridiculous stuff like Batman Judo flipping him or the like. Direct confrontation, even under the best circumstances is not how I think a master tactician and strategist like Batman would approach a fight like that. Even the most famous fight they ever had falls apart when you think about it. I've always liked Byrne's MAN OF STEEL mini series confrontation. That sort of planning is more in line with how I see Batman trying to stop Superman if he felt he had to.

I couldn't agree more!

I kind of think a tiny bit of that was in Keaton's scene at Axis in Bat'89. He barely exerts himself taking out all of Napier's crew, disappears and reappears at will, does that disturbing smile too.

I do sort of hope we get something of how the two appraise each other. I would love it if we see Batman start to warm to Superman's character as the confrontation escalates, and the same with Supes towards Bats. You often hear in history how appreciative generals who have fought campaigns against other generals can be towards their opponents, or how boxers can find great connection with opponents they've clashed with on more than one occasion.

And the easy way he takes out the red triangle gang and the start of Returns.

Keaton definitely had his own type of swagger, but it was of the silent type. We've not had a Batman who announces his presence or talks down on his opponents. It’s a tricky balance, as it still needs to be Batman sounding, and not something Spidey would say. But certainly it would provide a new dimension to the character I think audiences would gravitate to.

One scene comes to mind which I’ve always loved is straight from New Frontier. In a few sentences Batman reminds Martian Manhunter how he has the means to take down super-powered aliens. With ease.

I need more of that.

A friendly competition that can occasionally get ugly? I can be down for that. But since this is the beginning, I would mind if they didn't come to terms at all. MOS perfectly set up the foundations for a true rivalry where they both can clash without it looking contrived. They should milk that as much as they can for this film.

Batman in live action should have some ice cold, Clint Eastwood cool. My most favorite of some more recent stories' lines are the ones from the JOKER graphic novel.

"Why do you leave your mouth open like that?"

"To mock you..."

That's a Batman that enjoys doing what he does best... Punishing the wicked, without anyone's consent.

Speaking of baseless rumors, remember when Affleck was totally going to be replaced as Batman because of clashes over his schedule and him not getting along with David Goyer? All of that was spread by a website which probably enjoyed getting all the hits that the story generated. Can't believe we all took this story even semi-seriously back in January.

W.H.A.T? That was a dumb read.

Is this information from "social media" as zryson put it? You know how reliable that is. ;)

I think we're on the same page. Snyder and co. know that both characters have to come out looking like absolute badasses. If either is watered down or made to look like a chump, they will have failed in my eyes.

Exactly, which is why the outcome of any kind of fight between the two MUST result in a draw of some sort. Any following relationship between Batman and Superman in the League should be a partnership between equals and not relegate one to being a sidekick, which would be the result should one "win'' the fight over the other.

I remember very early on in the production that Batman's character was going to get a female friend or girlfriend? Has there been anything more to this? Or has this been debunked?

Many people believe the character turned out to be Wonder Woman. But we don't know if she will be Bruce's girlfriend or if that was just a front to hide that they were looking for Wonder Woman. We haven't heard anything since.

I think that was because people heard they were casting a female character. And for some reason people automatically assumed it was a love interest. In actuality they were casting WW.

I think Batman will have to push himself to his absolute limits and exhaust his resources just to keep up with a weakened Superman. They could go the route of Superman: Red Son and have Bats dominate a de-powered Supes, but I don't see them going with that. Even if they did, I don't think it would be the final confrontation between the two. I could see it working if they did something like this:

1st confrontation - Not even a fight. Superman shrugs off Batman's usual tricks (batarangs, smoke pellets, etc.). Bats is gauging his opponent.

2nd confrontation - Bats lures Supes into a trap ala Red Son, completely de-powering him.

3rd confrontation - Supes now knows exactly what he's dealing with. Bats has to pull out all the stops using Kryptonite, super sonics, explosives, distractions, etc. Bats is formidable, but Supes ultimately is the victor.

I like this a lot but i suspect Batfans wld complain abt the 3rd confrontation

Remember that rumor about Affleck and Cavill not liking each other, because Cavill had won a weight lifting match?

Maybe that's what happens in the movie. That's how they fight.

Or maybe Snyder will play with the fans. Batman smirks, superman uses his heat vision on him to put him down. End of the fight.

was it ever confirmed or denied about carrie kelly

There has been literally nothing official even hinting that Malone was cast for Kelly, She could just as easily be Barbara or not actually be playing anyone important. Nothing has been said about her role.

Correct, The only reason Kelley is even mentioned is because the guy who reported on Malone being on set with red hair totally brought out of left field his guess that it was Kelly she was playing. He said something like "Could it be Carrie Kelly? WB is not saying at this point.", with absolutely nothing to base his conclusion on, other than his imagination.
And of course, fans took that and ran with it for no good reason, as usual.
