Captain Marvel The Captain Marvel box office prediction thread

Wow! What brought that on? The trailer?

Apparently the Chinese boxoffice is very volatile, don't think the recovery had anything to do with the trailer though, since it started to improve a day or two before it dropped.

In these times, it’s now considered a badge of honor. :D
RT consensus for Citizen Kane 2: With no doubt the best film of all time, but no boycott - 10%

BOT Japanese update:

$6.5 million OW

Captain Marvel is on course to debut at the #1 spot this weekend, dethroning Doraemon which seemed poised to reign atop the weekend box office until April. And not only will Ms. Marvel likely take the #1 spot, her film is well on track to claim the biggest opening weekend for a Marvel/DC film outside of the Avengers/Spider-Man franchises.
Awesome! That is a very healthy start for Japan.

I find Brie more attractive than Scarlett and Elizabeth but what do I know?
I'm looking forward to the Black Widow movie - I'm just hoping it's really not a prequel. Same with the Scarlet Witch/Vision show.
Fans are obviously liking Carol Danvers and she's only going to get better after each appearance. Not too many people were high on Thor after his two solo films and now he was just voted most popular Avenger. Cap too. It wasn't until Winter Soldier and Ultron where he became a fan favourite
Yeah, I don't want prequels for those. Heavy use of flashbacks, sure.

Obviously my ticket was lost at will call as I had to actually pay for my viewing today.
Don't worry, the Disney refund process is very smooth and they usually throw in another 10 tickets to make you feel better.

That was definitely a shrewd decision going into this weekend, which is fairly wide open.

Tickets for Endgame going on sale will probably be the next thing. Maybe sometime this coming week?

I really think the endgame trailer gave this movie more traction for this week. Disney's marketing is simply out of this world.
Everything feeds back into everything else. It works so well.

Captain Marvel killing it at the Box office, Endgame trailer drops, X-Men and FF back with Marvel Studios starting next Wednesday and now James Gunn gets re-hired for GotG 3. I'm not sure how much more good news I can handle from a Marvel fanboy perspective.
I'm so happy, I just heard about Gunn. What a great week for marvel fans.

MCU movies are all one big advertisement for the next. That's the beauty of this universe and why it will be hard for it to fail. You might not love all of them, but they will give something interesting to look forward to. The detractors can call it TV shows or whatever, but they can't deny it works.

The MCU combines the benefits of film and top TV shows for many viewers. So you get the loyalty that is possible with a long running show combined with film production standards and the theater experience.

Interesting tidbit:

According to Screen Engine/ComScore’s PostTrak more women came out this weekend for Captain Marvel than last weekend with significant jumps in the female under 25 demo (27% vs. last Saturday’s 19%). Overall females are at 47% versus last weekend’s 42%. A solid four stars and 68% definite recommend in weekend 2 exit polls.
