Maybe Lindsey Morgan for Selina?

I could actually see that. Don't know if the studio would be too thrilled with the selection (not a huge, bankable name) but I could see it working out pretty well. I liked her in The 100.

If let's say, Robert was 29, it wouldn't matter casting an actress that's 32 and 3 years older than him because that actress would still fall right on the age range. Gugu doesn't fall on that age range, she's past it.

Amy Adams's 9 years older than Henry Cavill, and my wife is 6 years older than me.

Must be mind blowing for you

I'm not too into the Lois Clark age difference either. You and your wife are real. These are fictional characters that I think looking like peers at least plays more. It's not always an issue for me. But in some cases it's not what I'm into. This is one of the reasons why I don't lean too much on Naomi Scott for Talia or Selina.

Naomi Scott I can actually see her as Selina more now than I can see her as Talia

Ana is getting rave praise from David Ehrlich.

The age difference between Adams and Cavill didn’t add or subtract from any equation.

There wasn’t much chemistry there to begin with (or, really, no real effort was put into the characters’ relationship.)

Adams had more chemistry with Cavill’s chest.

You completely missed my point, which is not surprising.

The problem is not the actress that plays Selina being older than the actor that plays Batman. The problem is the actress that plays Selina being too old to play this specific young version of Selina.

Let me put a better example: If the actor playing Batman was 26, I still wouldn't rule out a 33 year old actress for Selina because she'd fall right in the age range anyway.

The problem is that at 36, they no longer fall in the age range for the character. It's not about how old they are in relation to Batman, it's how old they are for what they seem to be going for with the character.

Key word: seem.
It doesn't matter how you "seem" at 36 because since you're closer to 40 than to 30, your appearance is bound to change at any moment making you no longer appear the age you "seem" to be
Many actors in their late 30s could play 30, but they weren't even considered for Batman. There's zero reason to believe they'll operate differently for Catwoman when the age range for that character reads 20-30.

“Seem” didn’t refer to an actress’ appearance relative to their age, “seem” referred to you treating your assumptions as facts again.

it's how old they are for what they seem to be going for with the character.

^ an assumption.

The only real confirmation of Catwoman being in the movie is that casting call that asks for someone 20-30 to play that character. That's what I'm referring to.

Rumored casting call (“The Geeks World Wide”? Seriously?)

And there’s various precedents for those kinds of things being ignored if the right actor/actress is available (the “young Joker” movie that went on to star a 44 year old.)

Because the young Joker was never supposed to be a 20-30 year old in that movie. It was written with Joaquin in mind, that story was always about an early 40s guy.

Even still. It’s not like being in one’s mid 30s prevents someone from taking on a reoccurring role in an ongoing franchise, a physically demanding one at that, or even headlining one, should they be right for the role.

Take that up with Chadwick Boseman (36 at the time of his casting) or Mahershala Ali (45), for recent examples.

Because neither of those characters were supposed to be 20-30 in their movies.
There's a trillion actresses out there that fall in the age range for Catwoman that'd do a great job. Heck, most of the actresses we've mentioned here are in that age range. There's no necessity to go for someone in their mid 30s when there's a large number of candidates 20-30 that'd do a great job.

Written with Joaquin in mind so much that they tried to get DiCaprio first!

Directors say a lot of stuff. Variety and THR reported that WB was interested in Leo.
