The Catwoman/Selina Kyle Casting Thread - Part 2

If Josh Brolin can be both Thanos and Cable... why would Olsen being in the MCU prevent her from hypothetically playing Catwoman?
Because Thanos was a CGI mocap creature that was physically very different from Josh Brolin. Most people were none the wiser they were played by the same guy

Olsen's face is too recognizable as Scarlet Witch at this point having played the character for 5 years now plus her own show and Dr. Strange 2

Like the THR article said, WB doesn't like to take actors from the MCU. They are never going to cast an active avenger as Catwoman.

But that fact actually made him more attractive to Reeves and the executive team at Warner Bros. Specifically, Pattinson has not yet appeared in a Marvel Studios movie, and name-brand actors not working for the DC Comics rival are becoming few and far between. While there are no contract provisions prohibiting Marvel actors from appearing in DC/Warner Bros. movies and vice versa, execs believe that cross-pollination dilutes both brands and can cause confusion for audiences, especially from a marketing point of view.

What does CGI have to do with it? He was able to do both roles in terms of his schedule and contract situation (as apparently nothing in his MCU prevented him from playing other comic book characters for other studios).

I also feel Catwoman is such a distinctive character (with a completely different look, costume, and personality than Scarlett Witch) I am not sure anyone would confuse the two just because they'd be hypothetically played by the same actress.

Besides, isn't Idris Elba playing a character in James Gunn's Suicide Squad movie?

I know we're all starved for content, so any conversation is better than sitting and waiting, but... guys. Come on.

It's obviously not going to be someone who has several Marvel projects lined up.

There's pretty much zero chance either Elizabeth Olsen or any other actress from the MCU ends up playing Catwoman. I'm sorry but it's 100% not happening.

Idris Elba's character in the MCU is dead and no one remembers him and since Brolin was CGI they didn't care as much for that same use of actor.

Scarlet Witch is an avenger. One that's already pretty well known and will play a major role in the next phases of the MCU. There's zero and I mean absolutely zero chance the thought of casting her even crosses their minds. Way too confusing for general audiences and scheduling would more than likely be a complete nightmare. And as noted from that quote before execs reaaally don't like cross pollination. They'll let it slide for some characters that played very minor roles in the MCU but you ain't gonna see Chris Pratt, Chris Hemsworth, Evans, Holland, etc in the DCEU ever.

When is filming going to start? By when do we think all casting decisions will be made (and then when will they all be communicated to the general public)?

Filming begins sometime in Quarter 1 of 2020 (January-March).

We could start hearing additional casting as early as this month, but I'm thinking September/October.

Yeah, I could see something like Alfred or maybe Penguin being cast this month, but we're probably going to wait another month or two before we hear who Catwoman, Harvey Dent and Gordon all will be played by.

Only halfway through the first episode of Killing Eve, and I'm already sold on Comer. She's great as is the show in general.
After Killing Eve, I watched Phoebe Waller-Bridge's other show, Fleabag. Another brilliant show. I can't believe the annoying robot from Solo is actually a creative genius.

Probably unlikely, but I kinda like Callie Hernandez, who played one of the roommates to Emma Stone's character in La La Land. She was in Alien Covenant too but I honestly don't remember her character from it. :o

And probably her biggest scene from La La Land here:

Alright, this is boring so im gonna start throwing some **** out there

Jameela Jamil

Tuppence Middleton

So I’ve finally seen Hobbs and Shaw. Two things:

1) WHAT THE F*** DID I JUST WATCH?!!?

2) I’m completely against Kirby as Catwoman. She’s already played a femme fatale in an action movie twice now, this would be typecasting.

God, why do I have a sinking feeling Emma Watson will be cast... Warner Bros connection and all...

If she's as terrible as people say she is in "Little Women" probably not unless she absolutely crushes it in the audition and screentest with Pattinson. Reeves is gonna have the final say and I doubt he'd go for mediocrity.
