The Catwoman/Selina Kyle Casting Thread - Part 2

To play Devil's Advocate, I wouldn't be at all surprised if Thomas Polito's info is actually legitimate. The more likely concern IMO is that it's incomplete and/or outdated a bit. As others brought up before, his list of finalists for Batman was somewhat accurate, but it blatantly missed the guy who wound up getting the part.

A similar scenario seemed to have to have taken place more recently with his report that Jamie Foxx and Giancarlo Esposito were names he'd heard for a particular role, which was almost certainly for Commissioner Gordon, a part that came down between Mahershala Ali and Jeffrey Wright.

My guess is that the names Thomas got for Catwoman are also accurate and not by any means the result of him making stuff up as a number of folks here seem to be implying. But it's most likely not up-to-date and likely also incomplete.

I read Polito' shortlist for Bruce and Robert wasn't in it. I'm sure Logan, and Gugu are on the list but I'm curious to know who else is that he hasn't mentioned.

I don't think Shipp being Storm in two movies where she did almost absolutely nothing and had a unique hair style would automatically rule her out. I highly doubt she gets the role, but not because of Storm.

We also live in an era where Cottonmouth is playing Blade and Minn-Erva is playing Sersi so yeah, Shipp isn't a problem. She's not going to get it though.

Shipp isn’t a great actress. As for Cottonmouth playing Blade... the MCU is only what Feige wants in it. Netflix and ABC, no matter how hard they try, arent in it.

Yes I believe that is the case. She's perpetually the runner up unfortunately.

Used to feel this way, too, but it's nothing that high heels and camera work can't fix. She's definitely got the look down. I mean my goodness! No idea if she can act (I'm assuming she can if she's being looked at by Reeves/WB) but that's exactly what I imagine Catwoman to look like, features-wise.

I was just thinking maybe it's time for boots instead of heels. Especially in something gritty like Reeves usually does. Anyway, I like her looks and acting and theoretically it should be enough. If Hardy can play Bane, I bet there's a way to make her short stature work too.

I mean Selina is supposed to be sneaky, like a cat, so for her to be petite could actually really work in her favor since she could get into places other people can't.

I don't know why Polito would be right for the villains but suddenly his informations about Selina would be 100% wrong ? I bet Tessa and Lupita aren't in the list but the others fit what we've been hearing for weeks (WoC, 20-30,yo).

The villains came from casting calls. Polito is good at getting casting calls, but he sucks at getting actual names.

Umberto added that Zazie Beetz was eyed for Selina. So they're still going for a black actress (no Latino or Asian) and were apparently open to the idea to hire a woman who already played in 2 CB movies? That's disappointing. It's like they are not even looking.

The best for me would be an unknown and the closest is Logan. But WB was really open to the idea of hiring Beetz? I mean I like her in Atlanta but talk about lazy.
I've seen fancasts more inspired than that.

You're right. I don't usually pay attention to scoopers and I waited for Bruce casting until it was reported by Variety.
I'm just being impatient.
