The Daily Planet Vol. 2: Superman News and Speculation Thread (🚨TAG SPOILERS🚨)

Finally, one that includes S&L and MAWS!!!

I got the Cavill and Corenswet logo shirts last year, this also looks very cool! Like you, I love that they included the S&L logo.

WB announced David Fleming as co-composer of the film on Friday, John Murphy is still attached. Fleming has been a major ghostwriter for Hans Zimmer (including WW84), so I don’t know if this is a Avengers Age of Ultron situation again.

He wasn't nerfed in Justice League...especially the finale!

This episode was brought to you by Zack Snyder in association with Michael Bay. Look at the destruction Superman single handedly caused in that, albeit epic, brief beating he gave Darkseid!

So if the mysterious figure in the black suit does indeed appear to be Ultraman, how? I'd prefer it would be Bizarro.

Isn't Ultraman normally from a parallel Earth? Dictator? I just can't understand why this version would be working for Lex and this supposed army that has Superman in hand cuffs.

Any thoughts as to why?

Yeah not in the FINAL but boy was he nerfed throughout the ENTIRE 1st season! I mean when Bruce Timm comes out and apologizes for Superman's treatment in the 1st season you know something is wrong.
In season 2 Superman became powerful and compitent without sacrificing the rest of the members, all it took was abit of thought and care. This pretty much applies to Superman's treatment throughout the media, creators b***h and complain nonstop about him being too powerful etc.... so they nerf him instead of just putting some extra effort into the challenges, this is what sets the great writers like Morrison apart from the rest. People told Grant Morrison that Superman was too powerful so he went and TRIPLED superman's power in All star and made the story 3 times more interesting.

I think he's probably an amalgamation between those two.

Will probably just be Ultraman in name, if it is Ultraman. I suspect a degrading clone that eventually turns into Bizarro, which I like.

The fight with Shazam is worse :wow:

Oh I know, I was only jesting. Some of the destruction caused both directly & indirectly by Superman when he was brawling with someone in Metropolis in the JL & S:TAS was crazy, he didn't care about destruction of public property or people getting caught in the crossfire one bit.

I do hope Gunn doesn't shy away from Metropolis destruction just because he knows Snyder got criticism for it in MoS. When Superman's fighting someone as strong if not stronger than he is in Metropolis, there should be destruction, there should be consequences.

I don't want every fight to take place in a desert & I don't want it announced that they're fighting in an abandoned building/area of the city.

Honestly I hope we just see him trying to protect people from the threat...destroying Metropolis in a fight isn't needed and I don't think it really clicks with the audience. Superman should be smart enough to take the fight elsewhere. (like the sky)

The way it should be done IMO is Superman II, he's outnumbered, fighting 3 people equally as powerful as he is & all the while he's doing it he's shown to have one eye on trying to prevent people getting caught in the crossfire.. and his opponents should recognise this & try to use it against him or in a case with like a character like say Doomsday or perhaps Kaiju that is more driven by destruction of everything that they more or less force the fight to take place in densely populated areas with Superman trying in vein to deflect the battle away.

And for me it's the only one that is unwatchable. Even MI:2 I can rewatch if I have too...

Different strokes :)
Ha. I hate both MI:2 and MI:iii. But love every other film in that franchise. So yeah…different strokes.

Oh MI:2 is terrible...but I can deal with John Woo if needed. JJ made a TV movie complete with stupid gags that made no sense.

Ghost Protocol in the first 10 minutes smokes both of them. Brad Bird got what these movies are.

Suddenly I'm starting to worry what if this is Ultraman's ultimate look? Is he really just going to be wearing a black mask and suit with goggles for the duration of the movie? That would be disappointing.

If Gunn intended to keep the film unspoiled...why should he if the masked figure has a U logo on his chest? We know it's Ultraman by this point already.

It is not needed but it is plausible. As it should be. And speaking for multiple audiences would gaff at that.

Ghost Protocol is my least favorite in the franchise. I'm not a fan of the slapstick tone, the script is slipshod & nothing but delay tactics, and the villain is barely there. It's not shocking that the original writers went on to do Bay's TMNT films and the Russo's Citadel, and there's only so much good that McQuarrie's last minute first aid could do.

That said, M:I-2 came out when I was 8, so I'm inured to its faults. Zimmer's score in particular is a highlight for me.

Well of course it is plausible, but I am not sure more disaster porn is what is required. Not when the characters can go anywhere. (fighting the Kaiju is different)
