The Daily Planet Vol. 2: Superman News and Speculation Thread (🚨TAG SPOILERS🚨)

Will probably just be Ultraman in name, if it is Ultraman. I suspect a degrading clone that eventually turns into Bizarro, which I like.

Yeah this is what I’m hoping for. Because it gives Corenswet even more to play with as an actor. In addition to playing Superman and Clark, he would also (theoretically) be playing an evil Superman and eventually, a more sympathetic Frankenstein’s monster struggling to make sense of what is happening around him.

I also want to see that because I love Bizarro and I’m kinda indifferent towards Ultraman. My favorite version of Ultraman was the one from the “Earth 2” story but that version could never actually interact with Superman.

Ugh evil Superman is beyond played out...

Personally kinda hoping this is what's beneath the 'ultraman' suit...

The degredation of him would be interesting to me. I don't have a problem with evil Superman stories if they're good.
They are almost never good and even when they are decent it's always the same lame story rehashed.

This wouldn't be our Superman under the control of Darkseid or mind control or whatever, but I get where you're coming from.

I think it being a clone situation sets it a part from the more known stories where Superman is just being controlled. Plus, the live action aspect of a physical performance from one guy potentially playing Clark, Superman, Ultraman and Bizarro sounds pretty fun to me.

Well then, good for you but you still didn’t answer my question.
Yes I did...if Thunderbolts is good it means nothing for the films that are shown before it. It is not 1997 anymore trailers are released online.

the more i see the suit, the more i am digging it.
it's like they took the new 52 era suit, but improved upon it by mixing it with elements from the classic suit.

i like how the colors pop out, especially the yellow on the symbol...except it also makes me hungry because it reminds me of the golden egg yolk used in japanese rice dishes. :whoops:

It includes some of the New52 elements and makes them work, and overall it couldn't get more Superman than this. I love it personally.

On the subject of "Ultraman" which I kind of doubt really is--well, even if Gunn uses that name, I'm still in doubt that's the actual character.

It reminds me of a similar idea they did in the first season of Superman & Lois. It was annoying that they were using DC or Superman related character names just for the sake of it. I can't know for sure to this day if that character from season 1, the main villain Morgan Edge was really their Morgan Edge, or was it Kal-El's brother? Then there was Hank Henshaw...that was really John Jones, yet they decided to keep using that name. :eyeroll: For the record, they were probably just making it up as they go. Same could be said for 'The Stranger' who became Steel later on, or Zoom in Flash season 2.

I love the suit it’s just that damn S that hasn’t grown on me yet.

I know people love the Kingdom Come crest but sheesh.

Except most of those turned out fairly well? J'onn was pretty true to the character of J'onn J'onzz and they regularly called him that, Hank Henshaw was the face he used which afforded them the opportunity to bring him back as well (his portrayal wasn't great, but that's a whole other convo), the Steel twist was awesome and pretty universally praised. It wasn't "just for the sake of it" - they did those things to surprise even the comics fans who think they know where it's going, and it usually worked. Just like with the Doomsday/Bizarro "fakeout" that they pretty cleverly brought full-circle at the end of S3. Even Morgan Edge being a secret Kryptonian ended up being a pretty effective backstory, and he behaved fairly true to the Morgan Edge character until that reveal. That's the fun of adaptation, especially with characters that have had multiple incarnations over the decades.
