The Daily Planet Vol. 2: Superman News and Speculation Thread (🚨TAG SPOILERS🚨)

I'm a little bummed our favorite Metropolis lesbian isn't in this film.

I saw the MI trailer (the less said about the movie the better) and it was glorious!

So...what was that Nicholas and David ad all about from the Wonderland Instagram page? And David was juggling outside. He shows up in a car first. Goes into what looks like a cabin, reads Los Angles Times while Nicholas lights a cig??

Superman summer starts now.

It's a teaser for an ad for Omega watches, who I guess have some sort of tie-in with this movie (I'm guessing Lex wears them)?

Always had a strong suspicion that's because 90% of his lore is stuff he came up with after leaving the franchise. His responses to questions on whatever that rando social media platform he loves and is seemingly the only notable user on always had a distinct air of "Sure, why not, yeah I meant that!"
Can't tell you how glad I am that we never got Amazons are descendants of Kryptonians.

I'm hoping that 2 hrs, 2 mins is enough to pack everything in and not seem rushed. There is a lot going on in the trailer and I want time for each scene to breathe and make full impact on my mind and emotions.

Seemed like a teaser for a Wonderland mag article to me.
It’s weird because all the DC accounts that first posted it said it was for Omega but I don’t know what their source was, and THEN Wonderland started posting all their stuff. Weird.

If you take into account opening credits and post movie credits, plus any additional, possible after credits scenes, then the movie itself will be Lucky to be 1 Hr 45 minutes. Sounds sketchy to me. Way to short for a summer blockbuster.

Sadly it’s about packing the theaters and making as much money as possible. Children seem to lose interest if a movie last longer than two hours. The Lois interview will probably be the only slow part of the movie. This will be the definition of a “popcorn” flick. On the positive side Superman will probably have more action than Superman returns, BVS, and Justice League combined.

Guardians of the Galaxy has the same runtime and runs for 1 hr 54 mins before the end credits roll.

Or it's simply the best runtime for the movie.

Sam Raimi's Spider-Man is just as long, by the way. Just to stay in the comic book realm... and Spider-Man 2 is just a couple of minutes longer.

Outside of comic book movies... anyone familiar with the definition of fast paced blockbusters for kiddies, the 117 minute Blade Runner?

The rumored runtime is a minute longer than the OG Star Wars, 7 mins longer than Raiders of the Lost Ark, and the same length as Gunn’s own first GotG movie. It’s a perfectly respectable runtime for a blockbuster, and plenty of time to tell a good story in.

Agreed with your take. I just want to see more of the new DCU. I have a feeling I am going to love this movie and the world Gunn is building. Peacemaker can’t get here fast enough.:-)

I'm certainly very happy at the runtime, especially after the endurance it took to watch Mission Impossible Final Reckoning in theaters.

Of Course, Superman was never gonna be that long , but the length of alot of the recent these 2 plus films( not including all the previews and commercials these theaters have ), have started wearing on me.

They tend to serve as a deterrent for me going to see alot of these films in the theaters.

I know there's still gonna be a sitcom episode worth of commercials and previews before the actual film starts, but , at least Gunn has made a film on the shorter end .
