The Daily Planet Vol. 2: Superman News and Speculation Thread (🚨TAG SPOILERS🚨)

It’s weird because all the DC accounts that first posted it said it was for Omega but I don’t know what their source was, and THEN Wonderland started posting all their stuff. Weird.
I think I know what happened. A handful of DC fan accounts sourced some rando on Twitter, who most likely got bad info from another unnamed source.

Vieweranon was on another forum and mentioned a few things.

Movie was tweaked a fair bit after the last test screening including removing some of the more risqué jokes. Doesn't think it's been a disaster in the editing room but definitely changes to how the film was originally conceived. Bunch of late work on the score as well.

Doesn't know anyone who has seen the latest version but they're testing it a final time this week.

2 hours runtime...including the end credits or not including? Personally I'm slightly disappointed. Wasn't the JL theatrical cut about the same runtime?

I hope it's good then. I wasn't asking it to be 4 hours long. I would have welcomed it being 3 hours. I like long movies, provided they're good. But here's the breaking point. Avatar 2...jeez, 3 hours and 20 minutes. I think the film could have trimmed 20 minutes, because boy was it a drag. I was waiting for it to wrap up.

My concerns--I'm wondering how many scenes will Superman and Luthor have on screen together in this film. I hope it's enough to establish the antagonism. In Superman Returns, Superman and Lex had just one scene together in the entire movie, which was disappointing. Routh had two lines in the whole scene not counting, "I'm still Superman!"

You look at The Dark Knight and realize that Batman and Joker had only about 3-4 scenes together. The most important was the interrogation scene. I've looked at some other scenes from movies and always felt like it lacked some character scenes.

Maybe those supporting characters are exactly that? 2H is more than enough to time to make a film.

This fandom on social media is horrific after browsing for just 10mins lol

Because rule #1 in Hollywood: never work with kids or animals. :o

If you’re already having to build a CGI dog for A LOT of stuff, it’s just more efficient to use that full-time. Working with real animals to get the shot just right is a massive time suck and then you have the added challenge for the VFX crew of having to match up with the real one. They did have a real dog on set for reference when they needed it.
I was about to make jokes about Jason being CGI in Superman Returns, but I figured that would either make no sense or it would be making fun of a child. Neither of which would be a good option.

X-Men (2000) 104'
Deadpool (2016) 108'
Doctor Strange (2016) 115'
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018) 117'
Deadpool 2 (2018) 120'
Spider-Man (2002) 121'
Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) 121'
Batman (1989) 126'
Batman Returns (1992) 126'
Iron Man (2008) 126'
Spider-Man 2 (2004) 127'

These are just a few examples that come to mind.

I would have never thought Gunn would be terminally online.

gunn doesn't need to be online and respond that often, but i get that he's trying to take control of the narrative and shut down bs rumors whenever they come up.

Since X-Men (2000) was mentioned, I always felt a little bothered by the fact that Logan and Rogue only had two scenes together in the movie before the climax, yet somehow they were already established as very close. Rogue meets Logan at the cage and bar and on the truck ride. The next scene they have is when Logan is having a nightmare before he stabs her with his claws accidentally. Then the train sequence before Magneto shows up. I guess it worked enough but you forget they only really had two scenes together, three if you count when Logan stabs her in his sleep.

Hopefully there's enough scenes of Clark and Jimmy, possibly Superman and Jimmy, and Superman and Lex.

In the MI trailer I swear there was a few new shots (young Clark i never saw before I don't think) and the interview stuff felt...different. (in a good way)

I was talking to a friend and his kids who ate not much into DC are pumped. He is also excited because he likes that Kal enjoys being Superman and he lives that Clark gets heated because Lois is questioning him doing the right thing. To him Superman will just do what is right and doesn't care if it upsets some rule of decorum.
