The Daily Planet Vol. 2: Superman News and Speculation Thread (🚨TAG SPOILERS🚨)

I just cannot get over how much the footage reminds me of All Star Superman in looks and in vibe.

All Star for Superman and Lex; For All Seasons for Clark and Smallville it seems to be pointing. Two stories that can really hit the high notes in character study.

That wasn't the main focus of my words, debate, or message. I acknowledge all parties of the hot topic subject. Nonetheless, we can end it here.
But why bring it up? Why deny a large amount of bots, when WB themselves admitted it? Why say that Snyder fans just focused on Rebel Moon?

Someone asked if the new footage tilted positive or negative, and I gave a natural response that didn't acknowledge any of the conversation that ensued, as most replies typically veer off into side plot and threads of the ongoing discussion. I mentioned how that I don't take any fan response as a indicator givin' how both sides talk out of their hyperbole mouths in the midst of discourse. I never denied a thing and never said Snyder fans JUST focused on Rebel Moon. Just expanding the debate to other areas. My main objective was calling out all guilty parties in the reactions, which I thought was fair to point out. But nonetheless, I digress. If you want to continue, my direct messages are always open and I'll be happy to continue in that intimate space. Trying to move on to respect flicks wishes. Again, just PM me so the thread can move on.

I will say, the YouTuber I align with most, if not verbatim right now, is Dave The Film Junkee. He has put out some bangers with his LIVE chats. He's about as spot on as anyone in the spaces right now.

I'm with Darth, I've seen very little negativity, particularly with casuals I've shared the clip with.

Superman is 2/0 with the casuals I've shown everything to. My brother's texts are great, and my coworker at work is the clueless casual fan that comes to me nightly with a question and is doing his research. He didn't know Superman has a dog and was intrigued by that. He is the type of moviegoer I want to start a podcast with lol. He's extremely fun to approach and listen to. He has causal audience intelligence. He's excited for Superman, but questions Superman's star power in the modern cinematic landscape. Other than that, no other general conversations have takin place to really put a finger on this thing. I'm more interested in their opinions at this rate. The entire situation is hinging on them. With the film being three months out, it's coming like a freight train. Extremely hard to judge.

WB/DC have done a good job of marketing Superman so far. The quick preview was purposely cut for the younger general audience (Minecraft crowd). I bet the 1st official trailer will be cut for adults (Sinners crowd) so expect some serious and exciting Superman moments. Superman is WB’s crown jewel for 2025 and they will use it that way to help their other movies.

I have to say I’m kinda obsessed with the way the fortress looks. I’ve always been in favour of moving away from the Donner aesthetic and vibe but Gunn is really making it work somehow. Singer made the crystals look so drab in Returns but here they look so vibrant and pretty and high-tech.

I’m really hoping to see some character interactions in the next trailer because if Gunn has nailed that, then any reservations I have for this will be completely gone.

I know it's been awhile since I've posted, and I'm a little late on the sneak peek, but what a SUPER sneak peek!

I thought I'd be sick of seeing the "crystal" Fortress of Solitude again, but I've never seen it like THIS!

Krypto was adorable, and I've been loving this sort of rock-opera version of John Williams' 1978 main Superman theme.

Should we get another look, I hope that's it more Clark-centric. Focusing on his relationships with Lois as well as Ma and Pa Kent.

Sure, it's just mostly them.
I feel fairly certain the negativity is coming from Snyder fans, at least on twitter. How? Because I have been muting any page that posts #restorethesnyderverse for the past year, and the result - I have not seen a single negative post about this sneak peak on my feed. 🤷‍♀️

Gunn has recently stated he's finishing up the next trailer.

I think most expect it will drop on Superman Day in a couple of weeks. I suspect we'll get a good glimpse of Clark, Lois and other characters not yet seen.

The marketing has been smart to only give these small tastes so far out. So many films show far too much before the film is ever released.

These last two and half months they are going to be pushing the marketing hard between merchandise, ads, and media appearances.

Seems to me that complaints come from louder, smaller pockets of angry fans. And that attracts views. And the social media algorithms show you that. I don't trust social media anymore to reflect genuine care/interest/disinterest. It's all filtered and aimed. At the end of the day, all I care is if I like the movie.

It’s funny how we can all go on the same social media apps but have vastly different experiences. All of the comments I have seen have been largely positive and have embraced the change from the Snyder-verse. It’s been super refreshing.

I follow a lot of the official DC pages.... usually at least one or two top comments will be a Henry Cavill gif or "Team Cavill" that said, usually the comments under it saying it's "time to move on" or more pro-Corenswet are usually under it with similar amount of likes lol.

I've seen a lot of comments defending this movie, even in places that usually turn into negative echo chambers.

Yeah, that's why the echo chamber is a very real concept. Thanks to the algorithm, you get fed what you mostly interact with.

So if someone's following the group of people who have been hating the existence of this movie to begin with, they'll get plenty negative feedback on their timelines.

Yeah, it's annoying that these people can't move on, and keep a hateful interest in something they're clearly not interested in.

Not that I care about their opinion. It's their presence that's annoying. But anyway, it doesn't truly matter in the end. They have zero weight in how the movie will ultimately be received, whether it's positive or negative.

I'm honestly concerned and quite perturbed over how this film is already going over.

It's pretty clear this is the next new, big target in the 'Manosphere'; where you either side with soy-boy beta male Gunn/Corenswet's 'wimpy' Superman or with Snyder's giga-chad, indestructible Superman (except that time he died).

There's an element of toxic masculine energy that pervades the criticism of this film, already. That I'm starting to see rumblings of even being excited and wanting to see this film or hating it and wanting it to fail is equal to a political statement and shows which side of the aisle you fall on.

And I can also see prominent voices online trying to manufacture a flop.

The amount of vitriol for this film I'm seeing already is unearned and feels forced too; but with an agenda behind it.

"The CGI is soooo bad..."
"Every character is a joke!!!!"
"He's so wimpy!"
"LOL DIAPERMAN BETA"

And the constant 'Laugh' reacts to anything to this film is tiresome.

I feel like soon most of YouTube will be making clickbait videos on how it's going to flop, how 'woke' it is, how Gunn is a tyrant who deserves to fail, etc.

It's a shame - but this film is looking to be a political and masculine line in the sand and the next big thing in grifter territory.

All because Gunn dared to do something different and Snyder can't keep going with his grim Superman.

There is nothing masculine about spamming hashtags about a concluded film franchise daily all over the web.

I can accept Snyder discourse over Amy Adams was too old and ugly to be Lois Lane, I'm not racist but Perry shouldn't be black, or Jimmy doesn't have a vagina that we experienced during Man of Steel.
Jeez, that was a thing?

Yeah I see none of this...I think it will be fine.
