yeah well read his Atlas Shrugged review, which is a super right wing film. He basically called it dogs***. :hehe:
Just did, it was all kinds of awesome. :hehe:

The BEST part was the comments calling him a bleeding heart liberal. :lmao:

I thought Atlas Shrugged was extremely left-wing and pro-socialism?

It's actually anti-socialism. Ayn Rand's philosophy says you should look out for yourself and your own happiness, and screw everybody else.

I somehow managed to avoid reading any Ayn Rand in high school, but there's always Wikipedia. :oldrazz:

My mind is completely blown. From what I understand, she was a strong advocate of same sex marriage, and thought that everyone should be treated equally.

So I bought a 2,000 page book for nothing?!?!

Yep. She was a major loon and pretty much a total hypocrite.

Everyone who could work and make money. The disadvantaged could go screw themselves. :hehe:

Yeah, there's a reason why her philosophy isn't taken seriously by most actual philosophers since it falls apart once you start actually analyzing it. I think they're like the crazy religious people who only follow bits and pieces of the Bible, but do so fervently. :o

So has shooting ended in London? I heard Joey was flying there, was it for something else? Or are they still filming?

It's probably going to be a while before we hear any news on filming again. I'm guessing they are going to be filming at the hangars from now through most of June. Once they go to Pittsburgh that's when we'll hear something, but that won't be until July. So I'm not expecting any news from now through June. Just going to assume that they are working their asses off and filming at the hangars, etc....June is going to be a really dry month. The only thing that will get me through it, is the thought that they are filming the movie, which makes me happy. Still pretty sad that we probably won't get any news.

Ayn Rand had good points but she isn't the end all be all of political views. She is right to a degree. A person has the right to work for themselves and be free... but to act as though people shouldn't help each other is naive at best.

Anyway, how about that Batman stuff =p

ADD: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zc7oZ9yWqO4 For a better idea of Ayn Rand's philosophy. I read someone call it "the best arguement for selfishness I've ever heard," lmao. Also this character is supposedly part of the inspiration for the modern Tony Stark character (which is something I heard second hand, so don't quote me).

Political views/discussions go here. Please stop, it doesn't belong in here.

Batman and Robroyston: Glasgow to be transformed into Gotham for Hollywood film

Caped crusader to film in Glasgow

Glasgow is to be transformed into Gotham City in the latest Batman film sequel. Dark Knight Rises, which sees Christian Bale return as the caped crusader, will be filmed in the city, with Anne Hathaway and Michael Caine among the cast.

Director Christopher Nolan will use shots filmed around Glasgow in some of exterior scenes in the final instalment of his Batman trilogy.
Shooting has already begun in London and Croydon and will head north for several scenes early next month.

Nolan, who previously used Chicago to depict Gotham, wanted to use several different locations to create a Gotham nobody would recognise. A source revealed: "He plans to use various cities to provide a mash-up of what Gotham will look like".

"Glasgow was location-scouted for the last film Dark Knight, though in the end it wasn't used". This time, Chris already has several scenes in mind.
"The city centre architecture is hugely impressive". But he will be filming in secret.

"That said, if you see a man in body armour driving a big Batmobile down Sauchiehall Street, it's Batman."

Nice find, and It's sounds like Gotham it going to have a much different feel to this time.

Cool that its being filmed in Glasgow, maybe we'll get the true origin of Jokers scars...

It can be hard to tell these days, cuz fan manips are so sophisticated, Bane´s official look actually looked close to some fan manips, but the CW one seemed more obvious, the face and mask look weirdand it lacks the drama of the Bane pic. But we gotta keep looking, the virals for TDK were almost non-stop and it looks like TDKR will be no different.

You know, I think locations-wise, Nolan may be kinda getting back to what he did in Begins, mashing up the gritty and realistic look with a bit of the goth look from the Burton movies like in Begins, which is why he´s using London and Scotland. One of the few criticisms on TDK was that Gotham was too recognizable as being Chicago.

If you look back, Begins had locations in London and huge artificial sets, but TDK was more focused on Chicago, maybe partially cuz of finantial reasons, cuz they needed to increase the budget but not by much cuz Begins wasn´t a BO megahit.

Now that they´re coughing up huge dough, Nolan can create more of a unique look for Gotham -not that I had a problem with the urban realism of TDK, I dig it -, and we´re very likely to get a fully-built batcave this time as well.

I dont think it was for financial reasons. The areas of Gotham shown in TDK were just more open areas, more often in the daylight. The film just had different needs than Begins.

You do realize location shooting is more expensive than building sets right?

And actually it can be more expensive to shoot in a major city, because of all the daily activity that a city has to disrupt that costs money. TDK had a higher budget then BB did. And it was not the reason it may have cost more to use Chicaco filming on location usually can. I loved TDK's Gotham, it had many reasons it was that way, the aesthetic value of cleanliness/financial sector was visually saying that Batman had almost succeeded, in "cleaning up" the city. Making it his ideal Gotham. However it all turns bad by the end, and the look of the film at the end with Dent, represents that. It's not that he is just changing it to be completely different cities, but showing different aspects, and conditions of the same city.
