Fyi, Secret Life of Pets earned 875 million worldwide and grossed over 58 million in China. That movie performed massive without get much boost from China. Whoever decided to release Dark PhoeniX to open against Secret Life of Pets 2 isn't very smart. It would be the first X-Men film not to open at #1 in North America. During this decade, the only Marvel film adaptations to not open at #1 are Fant4stic and Ghost Rider Spirit of Vengeance. Dark PhoeniX would be the third. Pretty lackluster in my opinion.

This is tracking very well in China. Will do better than Shazam! worldwide if tracking holds...

But Apocalypse didn't get much boost from Civil War and Deadpool. Endgame is so big that it would end up helping Dark PhoeniX at the boX office? well I think it needs every help it can get.

Some China boxoffice updates:
Just a week ago, Detective Pikachu was projected to have a $50-60Mil opening weekend.

It "only" made $11.5Mil on opening day and will now be opening at around $41Mil. Will Dark Phoenix follow Pikachu's lead?

What has Pikachu has to do with Dark Phoenix's performance in China? This comparison is not even apt?

This will Easily clear $750 global and will have probably around a $280 mill domestic earning watermark. This is a watershed moment for comic book motion pictures as there are many waiting for a Simon Kinberg helmed X-men film. Especially with it being the last. It holds special value in people’s hearts

My post is based on a particular person's box office projections, a prognosticator who in the past has said, at separate times, that both Dark Phoenix and Pokemon will do well in China. He's supposed to be the China Box Office expert. He's now wrong about Pokemon. Will he also be wrong about Dark Phoenix?

Did you even read my post? He was right about Aquaman breaking out. Will he also be right about Dark Phoenix?

with all the marketing these latest days, now I think the movie will reach around 1.2 billion ww.

I do think Dark Phoenix will do north of $120Mil business in China, comparable (or a slight increase) to Apocalypse. Unlike most territories, the X-men franchise in China was always on an upward trajectory, regardless of the film's quality.

Because Dark Phoenix had 44Million views in China right? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I bet if DP hits a billion, there will be some top brass at Disney pushing not to end this franchise.
Because money talks and bs walks.

They'll have serious second thoughts about rebooting, yes.

But this movie is NOT making a Billion at the box office, so this conversation is moot.

Now that would be an interesting situation! Can't see it, sadly.

This franchise desperately NEEDS rebooting.

All the continuity problems, duplicate characters, certain people on here having to insist Sebastian Shaw was a time traveller in frantic mental acrobatics to explain the screw-ups, the lack of emphasis on the X-Men team members themselves. It's become a total mess.

Rebuilding the X-Men from scratch is the only way forward at this point.

I gotta admit, as bad as the whole "Sebastian Shaw is a time-traveler" was, my favourite is still "Emma Silverfox."

Did Empire Magazine ever come out with a cover for Dark Phoenix? The next cover coming out for them seems to be for Far From Home.

Even if it’s makes $700 million, Disney will have second thoughts about ending the franchise. Money will ultimately rule the day, if any movie makes $500 million or more, it would be hard and stupid for a studio to say no more sequels.
There is a good chance that this movie will be the biggest X-Men movie to date, ending it now would be silly. Disney is not that dumb.

Yea remember when Disney came out with a follow-up to Amazing Spider-man 2 after it made $709Million?

Me neither.

I see you probably want more movies with this version of the X-Men but...Don't get your hopes up. Feige has been wanting to get his hands on these characters for a while. It's gonna be his version of the X-Men. All new, all different.
