Im really intrigued/scared about China.

lets say DP has an increase there compared to Apocalypse...how much do you guys think this movie can do on China? taking into account other cbms performance on that market these last two years

Some good news for Dark Phoenix in China:

Question is, will MIB International also open on the same day? Sony is also eyeing that date (even though they open the following weekend in North America) to also take advantage of the Dragon Boat Festival Long Weekend.

Kinberg’s stewardship will propel this to gold. People are taking note that this is The last X-men film in a long time and also Kinberg’s before he moves to the MCU to start afresh with Zak Penn.

Seriously what makes you think Feige wants to hear a thing about what Kinberg wants to do?

I think most people have moved past X-men.

Because the awareness is building and people are really pumped and hyped this year. Two major franchises are ending and closing out their chapters. Avengers and now X-men. Will Avengers get some more attention? Sure but not like a super huge amount as Audiences are carrying heavy expectations from a Simon Kinberg product because of just how many fans there are of X-men films and him as a filmmaker. Knowing it’s his last film with Fox before shifting to the MCU is really building audience interest and steam to see this movie and see what massive epic adventure he is meticulously crafting with great nourishment and dextrous critical expert care.

I think many are quite hyped to see the final X-men film under Fox and see how it will end and wrap up the various complex, mature ultra-grounded and adult-themed conflicts, story arcs, and character arcs

Don’t throw away audiences’ amped up desire to see a Simon Kinberg X-men film. Most are highly anticipating to see his directorial debut and see how technically polished and superbly crafted his script is. The brand name also helps with recognition but this will be almost secondary to Kinberg’s built in fan interest and following.

x-men have always been strong at the box office in China, XMA got 120m
the Chinese public always values "farewell" movies, it will not be scary if DP can get over 220m in China.
so I think 600m is really a number maybe easy to achieve because of that, internationally it's going to perform better than apocalypse.selling the movie as a farewell will help grow in some markets.

Apocalypse wasn't even near 600 million. Dark PhoeniX would likely eXperience lower numbers compare to Apocalypse in major markets like America, Russia, UK and Australia. I doubt more people would see it in IMAX and 3D as well. In terms of international numbers, the franchise already peaked with Dofp which didn't even have IMAX screenings. The Deadpool movies didn't even cross 500 million outside the U.S.

I love that ur an optimist but I'm afraid ur about to be hit w.reality when this movie drops. Comparing the excitement for Endgame w.the excitement for Dark Phoenix is setting urself up for failure!!

Infinity War, the last direct sequal to the Avengers broke all kinds of box office records, was viewed as innovative and daring, embraced by audiences and critics and made a killing at the box office.

Would u like for me to recap X-men Apocalypse and how it did at the box office, w.critics, and w.the general audience?? It's not a good look so I won't.

I think Endgame ending is a cant miss ending w.characters portrayed by actors people have bonded with. The new X-men cast has NOT connected w.most of the general audience-- people arent clamouring for this and I don't believe it will be viewed as an event or must-see cinema.

People are looking at this movie as a throwaway and are eagerly anticipating what Marvel can do w.the franchise next IMO. Now if the reviews come back very positive then things can change for the better-- but it won't be a huge hit in the US no matter what (based off past perfprmances of Xmen at the box office), but it does have the potential to do much better than currently projected if it's a great movie.

The thing is its the final film not because foX planned it that way but because Disney wants to reboot the franchise from scratch and integrate it into the MCU. Also, the fact that Kinberg was overseeing and hiring people to develop future mutant films before the Disney deal happened, is really gonna end the series abruptly similar to The Amazing Spider-Man films. They didn't intend Dark PhoeniX to be a culmination of the 20 year old franchise. Sadly even this series lasted this long, its not gonna get a proper send off like the previous foX/Sony Marvel films. And the underperformance of the film at the boX office would make it even more sad. Plus potential bad reception would even make things worse.

I don't think Dark Phoenix will perform well in the United States. Endgame will still be a factor and soon after Spider man Far from home will get released. Plus the X-Men never made good money in the US.

Make fans of GoT might go watch Dark Phoenix because of Sophie Turner.

I really find hard to believe that Dark Phoenix would reach 200M in the US. It'll probably reach 100M plus and thats it.

Is very hard to predict things.

To me Logan was the proper sendoff to the Fox X-men anyways. It gave finality to Logan and the Professor, who were there from the beginning.

It would gross lower than Apocalypse so I don't think 550million worldwide is possible.

It will do better than most think, this universe will go out with a bang. I bet it will be the best CBM of the year.
Only one month away, can't wait.

Uh, why are you scared? This is the last Fox X-Men film.

Looks like the heavens have opened up for Dark Phoenix, at least in China. First it secured the June 6th date, to enjoy the Dragon Boat Festival Long Weekend.

Now, MIB: International, which Sony was also hoping to open that date to take advantage of the long weekend, is instead opening June 14th (same as US/Canada). Pets 2, Dark Phoenix's release-date-mate in North America is instead coming out a month later on July 5th.

China, U.S., UK, South Korea and Brazil. Apocalypse's top 5 markets.

I expect something in the range of $350-420 millions

Yeah that’s what I’m expecting, maybe on the higher end of this now that it doesn’t have a lot of overwhelming competition. Secret Lifeof Pets was moved slightly, no?

EDIT: I misread, only in China and I don’t think those type of movies do much there to make much of an impact.
