I just checked the website of the "Dollar"/Cheap Theatre. Dark Phoenix is "Coming Soon."

I wonder how many theaters will drop DP this weekend. With all of the new movies opening and Endgame expanding, a huge drop wouldn't be surprising.

And there wasn't a lot of interest to begin with. Further evidence that moving forward with the younger version isn't a good idea. Also killing off the X-Men in Logan wasn't going to make people eXcited for another freaking X-Men prequel!

Its like before MCu gets to reboot something, the last movie for the ip had to be a total disaster. Its really reminiscent of the Fant4stic failure. While tasm2 don't look much of a failure compare to this. Just, yikes the domestic box office numbers of Fant4stic and Dark PhoeniX aren't far from each other. It won't even outgross the original Blade!

Anyway, Mib International is going to outgross it this weekend and as eXpected, its already out of the top ten after just 3 weekends!

Apocalypse looks like a big success compare to this, 145m+ in North America and 500m+ worldwide. I can't believe a X-Men movie is struggling to hit $70 million in North America and $300 million worldwide. It won't even outgross X-Men 1 (worldwide) as it already opened in Japan. Yet all Marvel Studios' films this year is hitting the 1 billion mark!

It just shows that just because its based in a Marvel Comics property, it doesn't mean the audience would just eat it up.

It does, even with a $200m drop from Days of Future Past. All involved deserve the black mark they've earned for grossly misunderstanding their audience.

Interesting that it's called Dark Phoenix and Sophie Turner is the face of the movie when it's really Xavier's film. It just shows that just because its based in a Marvel Comics property, it doesn't mean the audience would just eat it up.

Anyone who says audiences can't tell the difference between MCU films and non-MCU Marvel films (or between Marvel films and DC films) doesn't know what they are talking about.
