yeah, its really really crazy how things have turned out.
the fact that characters like Captain Marvel or Aquaman can make 1 billion while X-Men after 19 years of exposure cant...... its unbelieveable.
Fox is just so clueless about why the X-Men were so beloved in the comics/tv shows and what works and what doesnt. Kinberg is clueless too. He didnt learn a damm thing from Marvel Studios H.U.G.E success and achievements. he didnt learn anything. All he learned was "oh, so I should do like Deadpool and Logan. it will work with the X-Men".

yeah, sure......

Its going to be a challenge for Marvel to rejuvenate this franchise and get it making the numbers we all know it can. Feige has a big job ahead!

nah, actually I think its pretty easy to make a stand out reboot.
basically the key is to do ALL the things Fox never did: starting with showing the x-men in their classic costumes in all their glory. Then the powers: starting with Rogue and Iceman (and Storm).
then, respecting the actual personalities of each x-men (Rogue, Iceman, Beast, Kitty.....). Then the iconic couples: Cyclops-Jean, Rogue-Gambit, Kitty-Colossus, Polaris-Havok......

If Marvel does most of this in 2-3 movies, the X-Men would be beloved by everyone in the whole world. Something Fox clearly never achieved.

I' m not so sure that's true. Unlike Spider-Man, the Fox-Marvel properties have never had definitive, comics-accurate adaptations. Certainly, the X-films have their fans (the FF, not so much), but many of the most popular aspects of the comic book series haven't been part of the movies. This will actually give Marvel a lot of leeway to create films that are not only very different from the Fox series, but Feige and co will be able to use the classic costumes, villains, stories and many fan-favorite mutants for the first time.

Just think how much excitement there will be the first time Marvel releases images of its new X-Men wearing their iconic costumes. When we see Storm properly soaring through the skies or Colossus and Wolverine performing their Fastball Special, the audience's cheers will rival those when Captain America wielded Mjolnir. Thankfully, we have that and more to look forward to.

Dark Phoenix has made $250M worldwide.

That’s less than Scooby-Doo (the one with Freddie Prinze Jr).

Thank you.
Its all Bryan Singer's fault.
Or Lauren's fault.
Or whoever at Fox fault.
Anyone except Kinberg, he loves these characters so much

I've been saying this all along that every summer movie season, there are are 2 to 3 blockbusters that will highly underperform and I said that in 2019, the X-Men would be its turn and that the film is gonna join the ranks of Fant4stic, Ghost Rider Spirit of Vengeance, Blade trinity, Punisher War Zone in terms of being the ip's worst performing film.

but yeesh $250 million in 2019?? when the other Marvel movies this year are grossing more than abillion this year? just terrible. Kinberg should be ashamed for this failure of a film.

You could give Dark Phoenix and it’s producers a check of $2,5 billion to add to it’s total and it would still make less than Avengers: Endgame.

I can’t wait for the X-Men to become a household name again. This Kinberg fiasco will look like a bad dream in a few years.

Damn!, I mean Damn!

This turd-muffin of a movie never should have been released in the first place, should have just dumped on streaming and called it a day. Not only did they sink money in marketing, but also tarnished their brand.

I love these updates. It shows the absurdity of the months- to years- long defense of this movie from certain sectors of the fandom.

Annabelle Comes Home has also outgrossed Dark PhoeniX in North America. Dark PhoeniX currently is sitting at 12 when it comes to movies that opened this summer:

Movie Box Office Results by Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall and Holiday Seasons - Box Office Mojo

It will go lower since there are more movies to come out next month. And that list doesn't even include Endgame. Yesterday the movie, might also outgross it since it has good legs at the boX office.

For this series comparison:
X1 #4
X2 #5
X3 #3
Ow #7
Dofp #4
Apocalypse #7
D2 #3

The Wolverine (#13) and First Class (#12) are the other movies that didn't make it to the top ten and those two still earned over a $100 million.

It could have been at the top 10 for winter/spring 2019 if it kept the February 2019 date. Also Alita earned over 400 million worldwide versus Dark PhoeniX's 250 million worldwide? Wow.

Whoa, just checking after a while, and this movie still hasn't grossed what Apocalypse made on OW... There are a lot of comparisons, but that kind of drop from the previous installment...

Although this was not the worst film I ever saw, I believe it was a huge waste of talent, time and resources. The fact Kinberg went back to a story they had already done when they had all of the X-History ahead of them shows not only a disconnect along with a lack of insight, vision and creativity, on his part, but that of those he reports to as well.

People have been following this series for 19 years, X-Men was there in the early Marvel movie days just after Blade (I don’t count anything else before Blade) and it was very exciting to see them on the screen, however along the way, the genre evolved and this particular series really did not. Yes Deadpool, DoFP and Logan are awesome, but they are also outliers. Deadpool and Logan had to be pushed by specific passionate people to even get out there.

Again, I don’t think it’s the worst film or even the worst X-film, but the series should have went out on a high. Logan would have been a good period at the end of the sentence, or if that was too much of a downer for you, you could take Logan as a possible alt future and have DoFP as your ending. Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix should not have happened.

Still looking for that one person who posted that this film was going to outdo Avengers Endgame...
... it was funny then, but it's hilarious, now!
It’s not over yet!

yeah, only 750m left, we can make it!!!!!
