Hrm...the world may need a Superwoman...:ninja::super:

(I'm reading through the IC thread first.)

Can I have a quick recap of what has transpired between the meta-human banishment at the start of the season and now? Also, what has Oliver Queen been up to? Can I pick him up?

You could but he's dying to of cancer. Since the meta-humans were outlawed as vigilantes nothing much has happened. The new Batman and Robin have emerged in Gotham and President Luthor has sent the armed forces to deal with them. Also the Titans have been reformed and Orin has been captured by anti-meta human troopers. There's probably more, but you should check the IC thread.

When I get time, I'll read the IC thread more thoroughly and properly. Truth be told, there's a character that I haven't seen mentioned - but I'll look into that at a later point. As for tonight, I have two papers to type for school. :csad:

Owen, not Orin. Owen is Orin's son. Gosh, get it right. :o

Also, EBJ...didn't you you already play as Superwoman and you did some stuff? Why would you have check the IC thread?

I played as Superwoman and Speedy, but both were for very short periods of time.

Get me some Oreo's!

DC: New Age Volume 1 Application

Screen Name:
Eddie Brock Jr.

Character you would like to play: J'onn J'onzz/John Jones/The Martian Manhunter

Powers: Superstrength; superspeed; endurance; flight; telepathy; shape-shifting; Martian Vision; invisibility; intangibility; regeneration.

Hero/Villain: Hero

Identity (Public/Secret?): Secret

Origin (If not a new character, a recap of events leading to how your character got to what they are today): J'onn J'onzz is the last surviving Martian. He was accidentally teleported to Earth and stranded here. Adopting the identity of John Jones, a police detective, J'onn learned to live among humans. J'onn also operates as the superhero: The Martian Manhunter.

The aftermath of D-Day leaves J'onn feeling abandoned and lonely once again. After losing so many of his friends, J'onn becomes a recluse.

Personality: J'onn is incredibly intelligent and wise. Even still, he never fully shakes that loneliness which plagues him. His feelings of being alone in this world are only amplified by the death of heroes around him.

Three reasons why you have chosen that character:

1) SuperFerret applied (and was subsequently accepted) as J'onn, but he never made it to the IC thread. This gives me a clean slate to work with as MM.

2) Someone has to play a pivotal role in establishing the new Justice League.

3) J'onn is one of the original Leaguers, and he is one of the few survivors of D-Day. As such, he has seen a lot, and his experience will only benefit the younger heroes around him.

Write two complete sentences using proper English grammar explaining what you plan to do with the character you've chosen (i.e. What are your goals? Will you be doing anything different with the character than is usually seen?): I wouldn't say that I'm doing anything drastically different because, frankly, J'onn isn't the type to change greatly. While he has become slightly moodier, he is still very level-headed - a trait that will be important in assembling the JL.

How many times do you intend on posting a DAY IN the RPG: As many as necessary.

Color and font you plan on using for your characters speech: Green Trebuchet for J'onn and John/Bold Green Trebuchet for The Martian Manhunter

Do you have an Instant Messenger? Which one, and what is your screen name? MSN - Mantis05

How did you find out about this game, Recruitment thread/word of post/seeing the RPG OOC/IC thread? I was actually here from the beginning. I just ducked out for a little while.

Please provide a small sample post with original content in the style that you plan to write your character in (must be at least 3 paragraphs long and contain at least one line of dialogue):

I still remember the day that the Mars rover mission reported back that there was no intelligent life on Mars. To most, this seemed like an obvious confirmation of something that was already known. But to me, J'onn J'onzz - the last surviving Martian - that news was devastating. Those were terrible days.

Twenty years ago, this planet faced massive devastation at the hand of Darkseid. I saw many comrades fall in battle. Even more troubling, I saw many innocents caught in the crossfire. The world wasn't the same after that day. In many ways, it affected me almost as much as the Mars mission.

I moved from place to place, doing the only thing I was good at - running. It seemed that exile was a 'quick fix' for all of my problems. But one day, it hit me. I've already lost one civilization - I cannot sit back and lose another. Men like Luthor have made this world a dangerous place, but new heroes are springing up. Together, we can make a difference.

"Together, we can save the world."

So you guys know, I am going to implement what the CAH RPG has implemented into the roster that I admired greatly. This RPG mainly consists of new characters, or new directions with old ones, so I feel it would be helpful to have each character application linked at the roster.

So you can expect that soon as well as my application for a second character.

EDIT: New application is a few posts down. Made a few corrections to the errors I made, thanks to Harl reminding me of a few things. :O

I am also adding a list to the roster (will link to this post) of what characters have been previously established. Not all characters will appear on the list. If they never made it to making an IC thread, they are deemed okay to be re-done.

Previously established Heroes:
http://forums.superherohype.com/showpost.php?p=12109002&postcount=3- Robin
- The Flash
- Superwoman
- Oracle
- Red Arrow
- Speedy

Please let me know if I made a mistake. I haven't double-checked all of those characters on the list to see if there are any IC posts.

Can I have a quick recap of what has transpired between the meta-human banishment at the start of the season and now? Also, what has Oliver Queen been up to? Can I pick him up?

As far as the "meta-human banishment", really nothing has been done. That is why I put up my Bronze Tiger app up, to expand upon and. That is also why I had Aquaman's son captured.

One thing I'd love explored is Mr. Freeze's space prison. Sure, Cyrusbales has been doing that, but if someone were to apply as one of the inmates? I think it would be even better. That way we get what is so UNIQUE about this RPG compared to the other DC RPGs's, explored and fleshed out.

Talk to Oh Snap! About his plans with Ollie since he is an important NPC for him at the moment. If not, there is always Speedy or Red Arrow that have been already established, but I have a link to let you easily access the gist of what you would need to know.

Uhhh, trusty, you are aware of the fact that A) Rick Flag's son is in a foster family, B) Karin Grace is dead and never wed Flag, and C) Turner wouldn't need amnesty, since y'know, he's on the Suicide Squad of his own free will.

The stuff that happens when I'm asleep! When I get back from school today, I'll have a Superman post up.

I really should not be doing this...but I am on school holiday this week...and MB set this character up so well...and Trusty's PM was so persuasive...

DC: New Age Volume 1 Application

Screen Name:
Apprentice

Character you would like to play: The Batman (John Richard Grayson)

Powers: Remaining true to the legacy of the mantle, John has no abilities. However, he has undergone training and is an excellent gymnast by nature; agil, athletice and strong, he is a skilled hand-to-hand combatant. He has also used his father's wealth (stemming from the trust fund that Dick left behind) to develop a small arsenal of non-lethal weaponry for his vendetta against crime. This includes redesigned batarangs which he hurls with great accuracy, a small assortment of vehicles (most notably the in-development Batmobile), and a Kevlar bodysuit.

John inherited his mother's computer knowledge and has a natural flair for technology. As such, he has rejuvenated her old hideout - the Gotham Clocktower - and uses it as his own Batcave, monitoring everything he needs to from there.

However, despite these resources, John is still plagued by inexperience and is unsure of his place within the Batman legacy. He is only just beginning to settle into the costume and the responsibilities it holds, and this weakens him somewhat.

Hero/Villain: Hero

Identity: Secret

Origin:
Master Bruce said:
Born by accident as a result of a one night stand between Dick Grayson and Barbara Gordon, John Richard Gordon was named after his grandfather, who had played a key part in Dick Grayson's transition from acrobat to Boy Wonder. Surrounded by a constant state of grieving through Barbara and Dick after James Gordon was murdered by the villainous Joker, John's situation only worsened when Nightwing was murdered in a battle with the small-time criminal mastermind known as The Riddler, who was later brought down and accidentally killed by Batman. Renouncing her dual life, scarred by Dick's murder and Bruce Wayne's decision to retire the mantle after The Riddler's death, Barbara moved into Wayne Manor with Bruce, as a secratary to him for Wayne Enterprises. John was treated with pamperment and love by Barbara and Bruce, who seemed to be able to gradually grow comfortable in his new life without the Batman's duties hanging over his head.

That didn't last forever, however, when The Joker resurfaced years later, taking advantage of the destruction caused by Darkseid. In an effort to save Gotham for one final time, Bruce reluctantly faced him, only to die in battle, taking The Joker with him in placing the Clown Prince Of Crime in a vegetative state, and ending both their careers. This lead Barbara to finally decide that she wasn't the right person to raise her son, as death seemed to attract to the ones she loved. John, being told he was an orphan, was taken in by a now adult Tim Drake, the former Robin, as Barbara left Gotham to let her baby be raised with a life of normalcy.

For years, John believed Tim to be his bilogical father, as Barbara's wish was to keep him safe. Tim assumed this meant to erase any part of the Batman legacy from John's life, and thus was never aware of his past. But upon his senior year in high school, John was attacked by Deathstroke, who tried to assasinate John from the Grayson/Gordon bloodline. Questioning this and demanding answers, Tim was forced to reveal the truth, leaving John to run away from Gotham City and travel for the full story of his past. His only connection to his father lied within Bludhaven, where he encountered an older Huntress. Taking the young man in and training him, John returned to Gotham, only to leave Tim's home and venture out on his own accord. Taking up residence in Gotham, John dared to take the path that his ancestors took, upon realising the still rampant crime and corruption in the city. But Nightwing was a role he deemed too honoring for himself, and Robin was a role Tim had reserved for his own son... thus, John became the most legendary of all, looking to invigorate and energise the legend of The Dark Knight.

At first met with opposition, John began to slowly sink into the role as he began to show even faster progress in terrifying and ridding Gotham of criminality than Bruce Wayne had. Eventually, he was embraced within the role, making it his own and inspiring the public to believe Batman had returned to the night. But trouble was soon found within The Joker's legacy, as Harley Quinn became the new head of his gang, leading a pack of goons that would terrorise Gotham and leave the new Batman with alot to handle. Luckily, Tim Drake eventually began to aide John, continuing his training and helping him upgrade his arsenal, setting him with the potential to become the best Batman yet.

Personality: John is a blend of conflicting emotions - from confusion as to his place in the world to muted anger at his hidden heritage. He expresses all of these, though, through his vigilante work as the Batman, a role which he, while initally struggled with, is slowly embracing. He has a fierce dedication to Gotham City and an unrivalled commitment to justice; perhaps this is a hereditary trait born into him, or perhaps it is a byproduct of his unorthodox upbringing. Either way, it makes him a formidable Batman with a dark (and often brutal) edge.

Outside of the costume, John spends a lot of his time pondering the cape-and-cowl that identify his other identity. This adds to a somewhat stoic persona that echoes that which he displays in his 'night job'.

Three reasons why you have chosen that character:

1) Master Bruce has established the character very well, and John is now in the perfect place for development and expansion.

2) I'd love to play Batman, and this is him - with some extra twists thrown in.

3) Playing a somewhat inexperienced and fresh Batman is a rare opportunity.

Write two complete sentences using proper English grammar explaining what you plan to do with the character you've chosen: I want to emphasise the fact that John is new to the mantle of the Bat and show him adjusting to his new role as he faces worse and worse threats. I also want to show his growth as he becomes more firmly caught up in the role.

How many times do you intend on posting a DAY IN the RPG: As many times as needed.

The Batman descended from the night sky, his cape-enshrouded figure silhouetted by the moon as it cast its pale silvery gaze over the concrete jungle below. A thin, almost invisible ropeline shot outwards, grappling a stone gargoyle and redirecting his momentum upwards. In a fluid, well-practiced motion, he served the connection and sailed upwards, his cape billowing out at his back, and landed silently on a rooftop. The city was deceptively quiet, its apparent calmness masking the darkness that threatened to consume it; it was a darkness that Batman knew all too well. His even gaze wandered across the vicinity as he strode purposefully forward, mentally re-mapping his patrol route to elude the ever-persistent police forces. Even now, the Dark Knight could almost feel the net of the authorities closing in around him, as tangible as the brisk wind that whipped at the exposed lower half of his face.

There was a familiar shuffle behind him, and he paused as Robin swaggered into the limits of his peripheral vision, his lips curved into a slight smile. "Hey, bro. You okay?"

"It's a school night. You should be at home, doing homework..." Batman paused as Robin snickered, allowing himself a small grin. "...or whatever it is that you do."

"Sorry, Dad. Speaking of dads, mine said that this was okay as long as I'm back before one," Robin retorted, drawing his cape around him.

Batman rolled his eyes behind the cowl. "You forget that he was my Dad for quite a while, as well. And that technically, I'm still your brother - I know when you're lying. Your left eye twitches a little." He returned his focus to the grim sight laid out before him, a sight that concealed the criminals that were slowly wasting away the remnants of good in Gotham. Even John had not yet fully adjusted to hurling himself into such a brutal fray; to take Jason with him was acceptable, but both John and his adoptive father were reluctant to allow it. And if they began to disobey their collective parent figure, then a line would soon be drawn in the sand...and Batman and Robin would be on the wrong side of it. "Come on, Jason. You've got to be sensible about this. Your dad is not that great about this as it is, so for the moment, at least, you've gotta stick to his rules. You should go home."

Robin, seemingly indifferent to everything else, merely commented, "You've got to make your mind up."

Batman frowned. "What?"

"You keep switching. You've said 'Dad' a couple times, and you've said 'your dad' a couple times." The Teen Wonder folded his arms across his chest almost defiantly. "So which is it? Is he your father too, or just mine?"

Batman swallowed hard, struck by his companion's heartfelt, nearly rueful tones. In truth, he could not supply a permanent response. His attitude towards the current Nightwing was trapped in a state of constant fluidity by a blend of bemused emotions: anger, sorrow, love, appreciation, gratitude, bitterness. The revelation of his true heritage and the subsequent events had left their relationship in a strange position, to say the least. "We can discuss this another time," he muttered quietly, straining to keep his voice free from elements of resentment at the question. "Right now, you should be getting home."

"*****," Robin said simply, before turning away and striding towards the roof hatch. "You can only keep dodging for so long, y'know. Oh, and don't let my soul-searing words make you forget about cracking those dealers down there."

Batman remained silent and motionless, allowing his brother to depart without further admonishment or rebuke. He inhaled deeply and stepped into the air; the resultant freefall was comforting. It demanded nothing, made no enquiries. The Dark Knight felt the wind rush up in his masked face and heard the ripple of his cape as it resisted the sudden surrender to gravity. At the last moment possible, Batman once again utilised his grapple gun and skillfully seized control of his descent, falling into a defensive crouch at the opening aperture to a grungy, dirty alleyway. Three rather ordinary figures were congegated at its end, huddled closely together and exchanging small vials of an oddly-hued substance. Heeding the vigilante's presence, they separated, pressing themselves to the surrounding walls as though the concrete would grant them refuge from the wrath of the new arrival. Batman noted one of them jamming the syringe into his arm, and his lips curled in disgust. Addiction was a terrible thing.

"You know why I'm here, and what's going to happen," he growled, stalking forward. "So are we doing this the easy way, or the hard way?"

"**** off!" one of the thugs barked, and charged forward.

"I should have known," Batman murmured dryly under his breath. He allowed his opponent to come to him, his observational skills asserting themselves far too late - a green tinge lacing the veins in his arms and face. A side-effect of the drug? Why does that seem so familiar...?

And then the criminal's fist was jammed into Batman's stomach, and the Caped Crusader was driven across the street and into a car. The windows shattered and the door crumpled, sending arcs of pure pain coursing across Batman's back. He suppressed a groan and stumbled dazedly to his booted feet, a trio of batarangs in his hand...but in a blur of motion, a second foe was launching an assault, a swift backhand sending him sprawling to the pavement. A foot clipped his chest and agony roiled through his stomach; abruptly, his breathing became shallow and his lungs were racked with a bizarre tingling sensation.

Punctured lung, he realised, weakly raising his wrist communicator to his lips. "Reddy, I need you," he gasped, only for something to collide with his head. He was claimed swiftly by unconsciousness...

Glad to see that John is going into capable hands.

DC: New Age Volume 1 Application

Screen Name: Catman_prb

Character you would like to play: Vic Sage

Powers: None

Hero/Villain: Hero (Inmate of Victor Freezes prison)

Identity (Public/Secret?): Public

Origin (If not a new character, a recap of events leading to how your character got to what they are today):
After the superhero registration act went into place, Vic was one of the few heroes who carried on fighting everyday villains and any of the remaining super-villains. Vic was finally cornered by Luthors Black Ops unit in a busy street. Choosing to fight to the last Vic was shot in the knee and taken into custody. He was sent to Mr. Freezes space prison without trial, and has been there ever since.

Personality: Vic was among the last superheroes to disappear from the public view, believing that he had a job to do and a right to do it. During his stay at Freeze's prison he almost went insane, and distracted himself by forming plans of escape.

Three reasons why you have chosen that character:

1) A DC RPG without Question is like a Marvel RPG without Deadpool.

2) This could be as good as Rorschach.

3) We need someone inside the prison.

Write two complete sentences using proper English grammar explaining what you plan to do with the character you've chosen (i.e. What are your goals? Will you be doing anything different with the character than is usually seen?): Give an insight into what is going on inside Freeze's prison. Also show using the use of flashbacks, what happened during the final days of superheroes.

They converted the Justice League Satellite into a prison for heroes. That was the worst thing. They made the old symbol of hope a mockery of its former self. That was the thing that almost made it worthwhile fighting. Still. Freeze used the basement as a level for storing the most powerful metahumans. The ones that could easily escape, or easily destroy the prison. He keeps them frozen in cells, where they could cause no harm.

The rest of us they leave alone. There's no escape from a space station, so they let us wander around the halls on our own. Some made gangs and began turf wars. Others just wanted to be left in peace. It's almost alarming how much the prison turned into a normal society. Almost. Whenever the fighting got too much, Freeze would send guards up with freeze-guns to freeze the most roudy inmates. They would then be taken down below. There are rumours that Freeze experiments on them, but they're unfounded.

I sit in the corner of the small room I've claimed as my own, reading through the information that my informants have given to me. I keep the gun in my shoulder holster. I don't know where the weapons appeared from, but I have to make use of them. Otherwise what's the point of me being here? There are a few other heroes scattered over the prison, but I'm the only one that's really active. Freeze makes sure that we get food up here. We may be convicts, but there would be outcry if he let us starve to death. When it all gets too much, I sometimes wonder whether it would be better to die. But then I think to myself; Never give up. Even in the face of Armageddon.

I'll have an app up later today for a second character. There really are a whole lot of opportunities to choose from.

Uhhh, trusty, you are aware of the fact that A) Rick Flag's son is in a foster family, B) Karin Grace is dead and never wed Flag, and C) Turner wouldn't need amnesty, since y'know, he's on the Suicide Squad of his own free will.

Crap. I think I mixed up Deadshot's family stuff (you know, wife with a kid, etc etc) in the process of thought; at least I didn't mix up entirely since Deadshot has a girl and Flag had a boy (:O). I didn't read the older Suicide Squad series, but I should've known that the kid at least was in a foster family. :O

I'll make a few edits after re-thinking my back-story.

I remember reading an issue where Flag and Turner "visit" his son, but he never actually walks over and talks to him.

The application says one line of dialogue, but with the kind of post you have there, there wouldn't really be a place for the dialogue, unless Vic says "Never give up...never" or something considering the last few lines of thought. That said? It wouldn't have done anything else; it was good enough without "at least one line of dialogue". I can trust ya with the character, and so...

DC: New Age Volume 1 Application

Screen Name:
trustyside-kick

Character you would like to play:
Rick Flag III ; Bronze Tiger II

btiger_unmasked.gif
btigermasked.gif

Powers:
None, but is a superb martial artist, ranking as Ben Turner's top student in the Tiger Dojo. He utilizes certain weaponry however, which will be revealed in my posts to come.

Hero/Villain:
Villain

Identity (Public/Secret?):
Public

Origin (If not a new character, a recap of events leading to how your character got to what they are today):
When President Luthor enacted the Superhero Registration Act, the heroes who did not comply with it were sought after by a team of villains famously known as The Suicide Squad. In return for helping to capture and contain the Rogue-Heroes, they were granted amnesty, rather being thrown in Victor Fries' space prison. Rick Flag Jr. lead the time with his best friend Ben Turner co-leading.

In an encounter with the Rogue-Hero Captain Atom, there were extreme casualties as his containment suit was ruptured, releasing his Quantum Energy to go unstable. The explosion resulted in the deaths of many, including Rick Flag. Ben Turner survived the blast, and they proceeded with sending the unconscious Nathaniel Adam to Mr. Freeze's space prison.

Granted amnesty after their final mission, the Suicide Squad broke apart. With Flag gone, it wasn't the same anymore. Rick Flag had a son, and he and Turner had known this for quite some time; but the two never reunited. Even though Rick Flag III never knew his biological father, Turner felt obligated to finally approach him years later. Turner became a family friend of the foster family, and kept an eye on young Rick as if he was his own in honor of his father.

When Turner was approached by the U.S. Government yet again to serve another civil duty, he was surprised. It but it would seem President Luthor's administration would be in need of his services again. The war against the Rogue-Heroes who continued to not comply with the Registration Act, were getting more organized, becoming a harder threat to resolve. So Turner was asked to re-open his Tiger Dojo, and train the men for the newly created anti-metahuman agency.

To Turner's surprise, Rick Flag's son showed up one day, enrolled onto his roster. While he did not know his father, he still agreed with the registration act, and what it stood for: a safer America without any unchecked, wild heroes and villains. He became Turner's top student, and became a most valuable asset to the anti-metahuman agency. Rick Flag's son lives on, with Turner's approval of taking up the Bronze Tiger persona since he has been retired for many years.

Personality:
Brought up disciplined by the Tiger Dojo, he is proper and takes orders well. If you will, the perfect soldier when it comes to what a higher-ranking officer respects, rather than a soldier who doesn't listen to orders. He is loyal to his job, for his strong beliefs in its meaning, but the fact that his father died serving the country to rid themselves of Superheroes outweighs everything else. Deep down, it is a personal vendetta since his father died at a situation that got out of control, all because of an unstable, unchecked, superhero.

Three reasons why you have chosen that character:

1) I wanted to tackle a character that most likely wouldn't have been touched.

2) Considering the back story for this RPG, and the coincidence of what is occurring in Suicide Squad and Salvation Run? The idea sounded great to me.

3) I like Bronze Tiger, a good amount. Because this is 20 years from the current time-line of the DCU, it would've been odd to try to play a much older Ben Turner. Given his history with Rick Flag, and their time on the Suicide Squad, and the whole Registration Act, it just made sense to me.

Write two complete sentences using proper English grammar explaining what you plan to do with the character you've chosen (i.e. What are your goals? Will you be doing anything different with the character than is usually seen?):
As long as this RPG has been around...while it has struggled, no one ever addressed anything relating to the capturing of metahumans. I wanted to take a wack at that, since I am currently doing other things with my other character in this RPG.

How many times do you intend on posting a DAY IN the RPG:

Please provide a small sample post with original content in the style that you plan to write your character in (must be at least 3 paragraphs long and contain at least one line of dialogue):

All the other men in training are still in their barracks, enjoying what little sleep they are allowed in the line of work they do. But Rick Flag can think of no better way to spend his 'own' time then serving punches to a punching bag in the gym. Their entire day practically consists of training anytime they are not out and about apprehending more and more superheroes who simply refuse to obey the law. A familiar friend enters the gym.

"You hit that punching bag any harder, it just might explode."

"That's the idea, Ben."

Rick continues his workout, giving the punching bag everything he has got as if it were an opponent. He doesn't tire, and he doesn't slow down. He dishes out blow after blow, until Ben catches the bag from the other side after one swift jab.

"Come on, kiddo. How about we spend this downtime sitting down, eating breakfast. You know, catch up on a few things. Ever since you graduated from the Dojo, things aren't the same."

"How's my mom?"

"She's good. She'd like it if you'd stop by, though. We both would."

"I got a job to do, Ben. You know that, and you understand. You'd think that these superheroes and supervillains would give it all a rest, but some just don't know how to obey a law other than their own made-up ones."

"Well I didn't drive up all the way here for nothing, kid. So, hit the showers, and meet me outside. I'll be in my car. Figured I'd treat you to a breakfast, catch up on a few things."

Rick starts hitting the punching bag as Ben leaves the gym when Ben stops, and puts his arms on his waist. He doesn't even have to turn around to get Rick's attention.

"I said, quit slapping that damn bag of sand, and get ready. Don't make me go over there and give you a whoopin'."

Rick stops, and grabs the punching bag to stop it from swinging. He leans his head against it as he pants. He cannot help but smirk.

"You sure you still got it in you?"

Ben turns his head back.

"Boy, don't test me."

He smirks, and walks off. Rick Flag walks over to the bench, grabs his towel, and dabs himself on the face as he heads for the showers.
