DC Films The DC Studios News and Discussion Thread

I wouldn’t be surprised in Constantine II features Dark Justice League characters. Tbh I’d be more shocked if this didn’t include at least Zatanna and Swamp Thing.

Wow I wasn’t expecting that Constantine sequel news! Liked the movie back in the day a lot and though I realised with time it ain’t comic accurate I still have a soft spot for it.

Keanu's Constantine wasn't exactly comic book-accurate but I love the film so this is amazing news for me.

I enjoyed it back then. More than what I probably should. American Constantine and tons of cgi. But it was a fairly enjoyable movie. Compelety understand that WB goes this route .

I’m a huge fan of that movie. I saw the movie first, then read a bunch of the Delano Hellblazer comics, watched the Matt Ryan series and the animated films… I think my favorite take on the character is the 2005 movie. It was overflowing with style, and I maintain it is Lawrence’s best film. Fingers crossed Swamp Thing pops up in this.

Might be wishful thinking, but the revival of this iteration of Constantine lends credence to the rumor that Zaslav is angling to get Nolan and Bale back for one more Batfilm. Just the idea that Zaslav is willing to revisit a film that came out in 2005 says to me that he’s looking backwards at what worked in the past. And we all know that TDKT really worked for audiences.

IIRC (correct me if I’m wrong) the Bale/Zaslav rumor came from one of the trades… he might be working on a deal as we speak. If Bale was willing to work on an appalling CBM like Love and Thunder, I think he might sign for one more Batfilm. That is, if they can get Nolan back too.

I don't think he went into it knowing it would turn out bad though lol

I’d think he could recognize the script wasn’t good though. He should’ve held out for a better MCU film but I guess he wanted to work with Taika.

Considering they used a lot of improv it's possible they didn't even have a finished script before they started shooting.

I dont really know what Zas is looking to do besides gut HBO Max. We know he wants to up the price and is cutting original content that doesnt cost more than $5 to produce....you have ownership of the DC universe but you're more interested in selling those film rights to make a pretty penny.....we're going backwards instead of forwards.

It must really burn David Zaslav that Christian Bale has agreed to star in absolute dreck like Amsterdam and Thor 4 and yet refuses to return to Batman.

That’s true, but the key to Bale coming back is convincing Nolan too. I’d love one more movie from them.

I am honestly fine if Bale never returns to the character. He and Nolan put together a well-received and completed trilogy. They told a complete story quite successfully. So the appeal of them returning (vs. like Raimi/Maguire getting to do SM4) just isn't there for me.

You're right, Anne and Nolan doing a Catwoman movie would be better. :p

They can't be right about DC Films being restricted to $35 million or less per project.

That's absolutely insane and would make the division a complete non-starter.

I think we're seeing the end of the DCEU and possibly the beginning of them going through a film rights auction like Marvel?
