So either it's all or nothing. But he confirmed Superman getting recast, so yes to the entire reboot.

I think his tweet means exactly what it appears to mean. Some characters are getting recast and some aren't.
Why wouldn't he just say "We are not recasting everyone" then?

I like the fact Gunn is more open than other DC people in charge but at this point he should honestly shut up if he's not gonna give specific details. What's the point of giving any "clarification" if his answers are just gonna lead to more questions?

Because if he said that then people would jump on it saying "aha, so you are recasting everyone except your Suicide Squad".

At this point, Gunn is Daredevil during the hallway fight on twitter regarding reports, scoops, rumors, insiders etc. :funny:

In the context of the question that was being asked I don't think so. Either way my point stands that he should shut up for the moment and stop giving answers that only lead to more questions. I feel he already ****ed up last week when he responded "False" to that tweet talking about how he doesn't like Henry Cavill only to a few days later confirm he wasn't coming back as Superman. (I already knew that him saying "false" was a PR spin on the whole "Well I like him but he isn't coming back!" but like... why even say you like him in a public manner before you fire him? He's not dumb. He knew how some people would read that.)

It's just such a bizarre and chaotic way of playing with people's expectations that to be honest is doing him no favors either. He responds to rumors in a way that only causes /more/ rumors. It's dumb.

When it inevitably turns out that him saying the thing about not "booting Gal" was just BS PR speak for him saying "We're not firing her, she stepped down" or whatever that's gonna be next level embarrassing. He's only damaging his own credibility and inviting additional hatred his way.

Just pointing out that just because Gunn denies something means nothing. Remember when JJ Abrams kept saying Benedict Cumberbatch wasn’t Khan?

He ****ed up because he defended himself as person from a wannabe scooper that lied about him as person?
And because he made a business decision afterwards?
Should he have said nothing, let people believe this lie and then make the business decision? That would have been better?

What this is, is people getting overly weird and instead of calling out the scoopers who are the ones who cause it, blame it on the guy who does everything to calm people down.
Its getting crazy how much people target Gunn for doing his job while getting completely played by these scoopers.

Yes, he did, because the way he went about it was such a way where said person could still say, days later "See guys? I told you so. He fired Cavill."

And yes, you're damn right, he should've said absolutely nothing. There was nothing he could say in that scenario that could've actually been beneficial for him. By publically stating he does like Cavill all he did is make people think there was a chance that maybe he could stay, which then made the whole experience of announcing he was out all the more messier.

The whole thing of him saying " I keep seeing posts with this untrue theory. We're not recasting everyone except The Suicide Squad." is every bit as embarrassing as well as the "We didn't boot Gal."

If he wants to say "I like Cavill, but I am recasting him" then he should wait until he can actually say the last part, if he wants to say "We didn't boot Gal, she stepped down", he should wait until he can say that last part, and if he wants to say "We're not recasting everyone except The Suicide Squad. Everyone in the old continuity is out" he should wait until he can say the last part. These half-assed clarifications and statements are helping no one.

I thought he ****ed up when he threw a personal insult their way as well.

I'm very amused at how people have a completely opposite understanding of this tweet from each other. :funny:
And the general climate of hysteria... Just calm down, and re-read the whole exchange again.

With the finger if it helps... :o

Besides, in my opinion of course, there's no point in getting too excited right now. If the "Snyderverse" has been scrapped for good, what will replace it probably have not yet been completely determined. And when it will, I don't really expect Safran & Gunn to come up with a nice powerpoint of their 10-year plan with cute little logos and everything.
If Gunn already talked a little about his new Superman, it's probably more to make it clear that they're working on a full reboot than anything else. I imagine that the movies will now on be announced in dribs and drabs. Only when directors, lead actors and writers are locked in. And I mean really "locked in". Not like The Flash which has seen who knows how many creative teams since its announcements. My guess is that we may even won't hear much until scripts are definitely done...
This time around, they'll try to avoid any kind of bad press, at all costs. At least, I hope for them... :D

For Batman, I come back to my previous theory which I'm more and more sure of...
This new DC universe will be progressively built in other places than Gotham City for the first years. There might be some vague mention of the Dark Knight, but without being clear on which iteration it is about, simply because it will be irrelevant at the moment. When the time will come to actually use the character, Reeves will likely be nearing the end of his run and the studio will look for Pattinson to join the project.
If he agrees, his trilogy will then become canon. Nothing changes in retrospect, these movies will still be adventures he lived on his own. There could be a small costume change suggesting that time has passed, in the same way as in the DCAU between TAS, TNBA and Justice League, and that's it.
If he refuses, Batman will simply be recast. But I wouldn't be surprised if then the new one still makes some references to the past trilogy, just like Kilmer did with the Burton films. Another way to tie things together...

This just gives them more options without having to eventually do too much wonky retconning or anything. I don't see them not doing it this way, it's the most logical and safest one for me.

Dammit, now I want that!

Speaking of, that new DC intro is so ugly... the weird cgi animation, blah.

They've never had a good one either. The page flip style one before BB/TDK was fine, but also boring. Luckily Reeves had the 3 simple red logos... for The Batman.

Literally how hard is it to have a custom one that has a format, for each hero? Like before a Batman film; you see a digital version of Detective #27 and then it open up and you simply have a neat WB/DC logo 'color coded to the film ala BB/TDK' and then fade/cut to black.

For Superman - Action Comics #1, so on and so forth.

I watched the 1998 Gen¹³ animated movie last night, and the logo at the beginning was a green-tinted version of the old DC 'Bullet'. Very nostalgic!

So, does that mean Superman will be one of the first announced? Sure seems like it.
