I think this will be a lot better than Shazam. Can’t wait to see the two of them clash in a sequel!

Black Adam is gonna be great, just having Hawkman elevates the hype x1000

Wasn’t a fan of Shazam’s lame movie at all but I can’t wait to see him against Black Adam

I think many people didn't expect how much it was geared towards younger audiences. Yes, comic book movies ideally should be for kids but the reality is that audiences of all ages like comic book movies and you gotta have something for older audiences to get behind as much as the kids. Shazam while I liked it for what it was, DEFINITELY felt like a kid's movie. I think the Shazam vs Black Adam film will be much better received by general audiences. For some reason when the rock is involved as a performer filmmakers are better able to find the balance for audiences of all ages to enjoy a movie as light-hearted as Shazam.

Black Adam has a release date, but not for Shazam 2 ?

What’s wrong with you, WB?

Could Shazam 2 be a streaming show for HBO max? It was good but I think the story line they seem to going for would work better as an 8 episode streaming series.

Still don’t know why they cast so old for Billy. That kid is gonna look like an adult by the time they make a sequel. Shazam was a misfire in my opinion. People act like it was a win for WB, but go take another look at those box office receipts. It may have made 346 million on a 100 million budget, but 346 is pretty damn low for a comic book movie these days. I can’t imagine WB is in much of a hurry to do a sequel. This film just didn’t connect with the general audience. Critics liked it though.

I agree with the part about Asher Angel (Billy). Should have cast someone 10-12.

Tom Holland was 19 year old at the time of shooting of Civil War, and he played high school student in that. Right now, Asher is still 17, so they can go Tom Holland route on Shazam 2.

What was Billy's age in Shazam? I don't think that was clear enough except that he was in high school.

it'll be kinda weird to see Zachary Levi shows up when 19 years old Asher screams "Shazam!".

Although, I agree that financially that it wasn’t great, I think that with how shakey/mixed the DCEU was out the gate that any movie that’s pretty universally liked at the least is at least somewhat of a win

Shazam was clearly made for a younger demographic but I enjoyed the movie for what it is.

Was it? I didn’t feel like it was at all. They probably should’ve leaned more into that.

The difference is that Holland still looks and sounds like he was 16 in CW. He naturally has a very high voice, soft features, and small frame. We’ll see how Asher grows but I think it’s a risk to spread the movies out that much when you have child actors. Honestly, even though I though Asher did a great job, the kid who played Freddie might’ve been a better choice. He’s like the same age as Asher and from what I’ve seen a pretty good actor. But he’s smaller, has a higher voice, etc.

In any case, I do think it was a mistake to make Billy be in high school instead of like middle school.

I thought the actors chosen for Billy and Shazam were both disappointing. I used to really want to see Shazam in a Justice League movie. Not that version... not like a JL sequel is happening any time soon though.

Maybe they will just cast Freddy actor as Billy, and grown up Asher as Shazam, and de-age Levi to play Freddy.

I wonder if WB should give up on the DCEU and stick to stand-alone films. Joker made a ton of money and Justice League lost a ton of money.
