DC Films The DC Studios News and Discussion Thread

It's not my first or even 2nd rodeo following these types of films.
Much much more misinformation will soon come out.
Ignore it until Gunn himself says what's what.

Yep. Same. Just let Gunn do his job and we just sit back and wait.

Regardless of Flash's test screenings, it's a bad look to keep Ezra but ditch Gal .

I don't know if Flash is as good as insiders claim it is.

But even if it is , to keep them , Ezra, after all this turmoil ,but ditch Gal and JM's Aquaman is gonna be hard to justify regardless of how good or bad Flash is.

I didn't think the hard reboot of the entire universe was all that practical at this point and time anyway, especially since the rest of the slate hasn't even been released yet.

So the idea of potentially keeping the characters who went over well, and ditching those who didn't , I could see happening.

To be fair to Gunn, he never has confirmed that the whole universe was going to be rebooted .

That's been more an assumption of scoopers , the geek pundit community, and fandom.

Its not like gal gadot is a great actress tbh.She can be replaced. I dont even know what the deal is with Miller tbh.I know the basics of the claims and yea they dont seems good bet to keep around but im not going to comment on the more serious charges i.e the child grooming/manipulation aspects because none of that seems to be proven. The rest I dunno not serious enough for me personally to care. Ezra definitely shouldn't be kept on though.

Gal is popular with the GA as Wonder Woman regardless of whether she's a great actress.
I get that in fandom, she may not be as well liked, but that's not the case with the GA.

She can be replaced of course, as any actor can be replaced, but no one would argue Ezra's Flash is anywhere near as popular as Gadot's Wonder Woman, and that's not even factoring in their scandals.

So yeah, if Ezra is kept and Gadot is gotten rid of , there's no way to make that look good regardless.

I think they were kinda damned if they do and damned if they don't.
WW hadn't been filmed yet, the flash had. otherwise, I'd bet a golden kangaroo it would have been canceled also.
Same with Aquaman 2.

I think that's exactly it.
Either misinformation is being leaked intentionally, or,
it's info that is 2nd or 3rd hand, ie, my cousin's friend's Gardner overhead Gunn talking, etc etc.

OR it’s people asking questions and white lie misinformation is being given to protect the old slate.

Who has been publicly sacked? Cavill and Affleck. One has been cut from the 2023 releases, one had already said he was done with the role.

Who hasn’t been sacked? Gadot, Levi, Miller, Keaton, Calle, Xolo and Momoa. The people who have movies coming out this year.

This is not a weird coincidence.

Gal is almost certainly gone, or else why would Jenkins have been completely sacked and not given the opportunity to rework WW3? Ezra has been sacked for some time. Momoa is excited about playing a different role. Levi is saying he hasn’t been sacked yet, but understands if he is. I mean what’s happening is pretty transparent.

If there’s a holdover it will be Viola Davis as Amanda Waller. I can’t even see Gunn keeping Robbie as HQ at this point. Maybe Xolo if the movie is good and they can cut all DCEU references.

Who is to say she *hasn't*, and either wouldn't play ball or couldn't come to a workable compromise plot?

Jenkins leaving doesn't automatically mean Gadot is gone, though I think that may be the case.

If the plan does pan out to be an al carte , keep some things , get rid of others, it's possible that the reason Gunn hasn't stated that Gadot is gone, is because she isn't gone.

Fandom has gotten ahead of it's self ,several times ,these past weeks ,by assuming they know how things will shake out .

So while I think Gal is gone and we'll have a rebooted WW, I wouldn't place money on it at this point without an official word from Gunn himself.

If I was to bet on how things will go, I'd bet on this.
A 25ish unknown actor will play superman.

Robert will be the DCU Batman.

Gadot is gone. A new WW will be announced soon.

Ezra? Depends on how the Flash does.

Jason will be Lobo after Aquaman 2.

I think Miller is gone whatever. Otherwise, other than Pattinson becoming the DCU Batman (not saying he won't, but I'm not sure) I think that's probably right.

Don't expect Pattinson as the DCU Batman but would be cool with it.

Patty Jenkins, in a tweet James Gunn replied to, said she was told there was nothing she could do to make the project move forward in any form.

Reading the posts on this thread, I see that most of you are passionate DC fans and love our heroes. Remember that Gunn is about to start the press tour for possibly the biggest movie of 2023 or at least the favorite to make the most money. DC also has 4 movies to promote this year so you can’t really expect Gunn to announce a full DC reboot in January. Like most of you have reported let’s see how the movies do at the box office. That is really the reason Henry was let go and Rock was put on ice. I believe WB thought Black Adam would make $600+ million and it failed to do so. No matter how well Henry looked as Superman he never produced a billion dollar film. Henry was given 3 chances and failed. The final movie they put Superman on ice. Whoever made that decision should have been fired on the spot. Gal is rumored to have a good sized role in the upcoming Shazam so let’s see if she can help that box office. It’s all about making cash now. WB Discovery is going after the MCU and if you want to pass them you need the Trinity to lead the way. Marvel has only one heavy hitter now in Spider-Man. DC needs to make a move now!!

To be fair to HC, he wasn't given much to work with.
Now, that's not to say he would have been the 2nd coming of chis reeve with a director like Brad bird being behind the camera, but I think he would have been much better than what snafu......eh......snyder gave us.

The Bottom line, for me anyway, is that he gave exactly what snyder asked of him.
Snyder wanted a dark, and godlike attitude coming from his Superman, and that's what he got.

The blame is mostly on snyder, and on WB for thinking a dark, mopey, standoffish superman would be a hit with audiences.

Take notes Gunn. We ( mostly ) didn't like that kind of superman.

I think the main characteristic and qualities for the next actor playing Superman we should look for is acting chops. How the same person can look and act totally different when he's Clark Kent, which IMO Henry Cavill could never deliver, even with the good material and good direction.

It would also be nice to see someone who doesn't look like a bodybuilder necessarily, but who can change drastically from one personality to the other and makes us see two totally different people with his posture, demeanour, way of talking, etc. Both personality should be fun but different, two complete opposite which can be impressive in term of acting.

He has to be imposing sure, but I don't think him being (and even all the DC characters) all muscles is the way to go or think for this new universe, the DCEU already gave us that.

I'm pretty sure Gunn's approach will be bold in terms casting choice but it will still maintain the spirit of the character while having a new look at it that should feel fresh.

Agreed. I think the ultra-jacked look can be laid at the feet of the MCU, specifically with Evans and Hemsworth. As a result it's become expected in these movies. Batman should be muscular and ultra-fit, but he shouldn't look like Mr Universe. Carrying that bulk isn't in any way practical for what he has to do; Mr Universe competitors can't move and fight like Bruce Lee, nor can they perform complex aerial gymnastics (plus there's the body armour and all the equipment he's lugging around!). Pattinson looked pretty good without a shirt (and he notably refused to 'roid).
