DC Films The DC Studios News and Discussion Thread

For me, Green Lantern could thrive in both mediums. I just as much enjoy the episodic space cop tales as I do the big universe-in-peril events. Sometimes more so, if I'm being honest. So I guess my ideal scenario would be a GL Corps show focusing on several lanterns, with a concurrent movie franchise that just follows like two main Earth lanterns, with the show characters featuring in both (as supporting roles in the movies).

I think Green Lantern really should be the DC equivalent to Star Wars. It should be on the big screen with top notch visual and special effects.
I’ve always wanted Green Lantern Corps across many films to get to the level of another space epic like Star Wars/Trek. I’m a fan of most of the Lanterns and would like to see them all gradually getting introduced and having different combinations of them in later films. With the right budget and ambitious creative team it could really be something.

Sounds ideal to me

Genuinely surprised that nothing has really leaked from the press conference.

If a Robin is announced tomorrow I'm going to take it as confirmation -in my head- that Reeves isn't going to use it. Let me pray.
If Reeves stays away from the Bat family then this universe should get them in early

So who's gonna spare us the trouble of finding that poll? :o

Booster Gold, Batman Beyond, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern.

Given "just a shot in the dark," I assume Booster Gold TV show. Be weird to say it about GL, something we have known exists for a long time in some form or another.

Ah ok yeah, thanks, that's Booster. And given that Berlanti just re-upped his deal, I'm gonna guess they're finally going with HIS Booster Gold show he's been trying to get made for forever. Which, yawn.

The kind of long term "finally getting what you wanted" situation that will make Tyrese look on with jealousy.

I don't see Gunn making TV schlock. I doubt Berlanti is involved, and if he is it won't be a typical Berlanti series.

Reeves fought so hard for his standalone universe, that I don't know how anyone reading his interviews recounting his struggle could believe such a thing lol

Very very pleasant to me.
I'm against Robin in The Batman, so it would be music to my ears.

Booster seems like a given since it is right up Gunns ally.

If we get these ST, Booster....it'll seem like we're basically at the same point where we were with DC films already. How does the universe fit together? How are they building it up?

So what I am piecing together... we are not getting Pattinson's Batman in the DCU but we are getting a different Batman who has a Robin?

I think the point is to go into a complete universe with a relatively consistent tone and, more importantly, consistent quality.

The projects can fit together or not fit together as they like. Marvel has shot itself in the foot with its "everything must connect" approach in Phase 4. It's too much to keep up with.

Breathing a big sigh of relief on Battinson remaining separate. Cant wait to see Grace rant about it tomorrow.

Marvel doesnt really do "everything must connect" its "each phase builds up to a bigger story".

Part of DCs issue is that we were always dropped into the middle of a universe. A Robin is dead but we only have our comic knowledge to fill in potential blanks. JSA has been operating for who knows how long but we only get the newbies backstory.

I know some dont want the DCU to be like the MCU but part of the MCUs success is fans have grown with the characters and universe. But we will see how they do things on the DC side this time around.

I understand, but I think it can be done well.

Gunn seems to be taking cues from the Reevesverse. Reeve's Batman had no origin, but he existed at an early stage and so did quite a few of his rogues (Joker, Riddler, Catwoman, Penguin, Falcone). Gunn has confirmed his Superman is young, but not meeting key characters for the first time. Seems to be a similiar approach.
