Luke could go anywhere in the galaxy to do that. He went to the first Jedi temple. The birth place of the Jedi. Why?

Most unfindable place in the galaxy. No one knew where it was. Crashed his ship with no way of getting off. Dude just went there to die where no one could find him and disconnected himself to the force.

Luke also left that map piece, suggesting he wanted someone to find him.

but in TLJ, he acted like he just wanted to be left alone to die.

Money talks, opinions don’t.
Exactly. People can dislike TLJ all the want, but it made a ton of money and got glowing critical reviews...Solo didn't. Spamming Rotten Tomatoe's audience score doesn't mean the majority actually have that opinion. So if they put the breaks on anything, it's because of Solo, a film no one asked for.

But in regards to actual hype about the trailer, the SW fandom in general has burned me out, and even though I still love the properties I can't say my level of hype is up there with Endgame and Game of Thrones right now. Maybe once we get the full trailer. Some shots look amazing though, especially that one of Kylo in the forest.

Actually in this case, money is an issue for TLJ. The legs disappeared something scary after the opening and then Solo happened.

Who had it. Or do you think the Jedi fanboy on Jakku just happened upon it?

Sounds like they were just following broken pieces. Luke made it clear he didn't want to be found and didn't leave clues on purpose to be found.

You are revising history. Why would Luke himself lie about why he was there?

I don't care how dis-jointed/organised its all been, I am a baby born of the OT and I am seeing this through. I am a die-hard and I love all these films and also love JJ as a director, loved the trailer, will leave the speculation to others and see you all in December with our popcorn and a handkerchief to wave goodbye to something that has spanned by entire life to date.

He told people where he was going. We know he did, because they know where he went. Han knew.

Here is the issue with Rian's take on this. If they all knew because Luke was going there before the incident at the temple, Kylo would know Luke was going to the first Jedi temple. He doesn't, because Snoke doesn't know. Snoke makes a comment in TLJ which is clearly him indicating it. So Luke went to where he could not be found to die, but told people where he was going after making that decision? How does that make sense?

The only thing that makes sense, for people knowing where Luke was going to even knowing there is a map to where Luke went, is for Luke to have told people where he was going.

And TLJ had terrible merchandise, toy, and lowered bluray sales. Not to mention it had a 700m drop from Episode 7's boxoffice.

TLJ had a huge second week drop at the box office like Batman v Superman. Which then led to awful legs. And it made $700 million less than TFA. That means bad word of mouth.

How do you know he left it behind?

He didn't. This isn't explained in the movie, but the canon material explains that the map that R2 had he got from when he plugged into the Death Star in A New Hope. It was a map of all known Jedi temples that Palpatine compiled. The missing piece of map that Lor San Tekka had was from when he and Luke went adventuring around the galaxy decades prior.

Yep. People no liked the good being served. Hell, I didn't see it after opening weekend.

Omg I was watching the entire panel on my lunch break at work. And just they were about to show the trailer I got called into a safety training meeting. That lasted for 2 damn hours. People texting me non stop it was killing me!

Finally right after the meeting watched the trailer. Oh. My. God. J.J. you beautiful bastard. I loved this trailer and I am so excited for this movie. I love TFA, I like aspects of TLJ but there’s a mix there for me of things I don’t enjoy in it. But man to have J.J. back is perfect.

The trailer looks awesome: so powerful. I haven't seen The Force Awakens or The Last Jedi yet, but I'm gonna binge-watch them now, for Star Wars celebration, and then I'll be prepared for this one. It looks so good! My heart melted when I saw Carrie Fisher.
And the Death Star! And Palpatine! It's so exciting!

Wait ! What ???? You are watching a trailer for the last chapter of something and you haven't seen yet the previous two ?????

Luke saying "We've taught you all we know, but this is your fight." makes me think that Luke and Yoda and maybe Obi have been training Rey during the year that's passed between TLJ and this film. It also makes me think Luke is just gonna disappear after her training and not get involved in the fighting in any way. Which really just chaps my ass. Such a ****ing missed opporopport to do something amazing with the force ghosts.

the sinister laugh at end got me DAM U JJ

I'm mildly interested now didn't think I would be I despised the TLJ

He didn't tell Han tat's BS and you know it.

It's like Han activated Kylo's lightsaber BS.

One can make the argument that you already saw it through with Return of the Jedi. Everything else beyond that is made from a different company, crew, only the original cast remains now.

Voila. Luke didn't tell anyone. He didn't want to be found. He went there to die on Achto.

You could say that if you wanted too, yes, you are correct. I personally wouldn't but heh ho.
