Eternals The Eternals General Disscussion and Speculation thread

I am not saying I buy the theory, at the time many thought this was introduced to foreshadow the Inhumans who were poised for the big screen at the time only to end up on ABC. STILL... It was something that should have been huge but got zero follow up.

Another video for those of us not totally familiar with the source material and how the Eternals, Deviants and Celestials fit together. Of course the films will liberally adapt as Marvel has done with all their films to one degree or another. But this is a good, hell, great overview of the Marvel Comics history the movies draw from. It's... Long but this guy did his homework.

If anything after I watched this I wondered how I never went insane reading the comic books and all this convoluted nonsense, retcons and secret origin stuff taking up space in my mental hard drive.

Should Kurt Russell cameo in this as Ego?

I don't think so. He made a big point in gotg 2 of being alone in the universe. Although he said he was a celestial ego was never part of the celestial host. We'll see though. Sure their take will be different to what we are expecting.

I think they've been pretty vague so far when it comes to MCU's "cosmic" beings to pretty much be able to make the distinction between a "celestial being" and "THE Celestials".

I mean one of the biggest things about the Celestials is that they don't talk and they are at best opaque when it comes to their objectives.

In all honesty... They shouldn't be characters the human cast understands. They certainly shouldn't be beings that create human avatars that are used to make dick jokes... And oh I forgot this is Marvel Studios and none of ya'll care about these type of objections at all, you all eat up the cosmic beings making dick jokes...

Never mind.

Absolutely agree with this.

I saw something about Eternals possibly having up to 5 female lead characters, I can't remember where I saw that. Did the comics have a lot of female characters?

The casting breakdown has 5 female characters
That's good. Would be great if the female characters in a team actually outnumbers the male characters since its usually the other way around. I hope the characters in this are more diverse.

I think it'll be about even between male and female characters, but reports said they were looking for a diverse cast.

Angelina Jolie is a great start to this cast and I can't wait to see who else is gonna be in this.

MCU Cosmic is hit or miss, but Hercules being one of the leads is probably right.

As for who will play him, that may be coming out soon and it will probably be someone fans have been speculating would be in the movie.

So, Luke Evans?

Yeah, simply referring to them as the Fourth Host should make the distinction clearer. Also, celestial is a pretty ubiquitous term (not unlike 'god'), so it's basically a non-issue.

Trust me you’re not the only one who thought those jokes were dumb.

So, assuming Jolie is Sersi or Elysius (Probably the latter) and Luke Evans is gonna end up as Hercules that's a good start to this cast. I don't think they'll race bend Ikaris, so aside from those three, I fully expect a diverse cast

Evans as Herc would be a miscast in my opinion.

I've learned to trust Marvel when it comes to casting, so if it does indeed end up being Evans; I'll give them the benefit of the doubt

I obviously can't say for sure but I get a hunch these people talking about Hercules being in this are garbling what they are hearing.

Just me but I bet they are mistaking the bit about Gilgamesh, The Forgotten one who was mistaken for Hercules in the comics as being Herc proper.
