The Expendables 3 - Part 1

I'll wait for redbox. Only because the only thing that made these things enjoyable was the cheesy over the top action and cussing. A watered down Expendables sounds boring.

A commenter on another site said that in a PG-13 film the audio mix's violent elements have to be toned down to be less impactful. Any truth to this?

The best part of TEX2 is the beginning & when Chuck Norris shows up & then skip ahead to Arnold saving their asses

This thread should be retitled to PG13/I'll wait for the DVD. No one is forcing any of you to go see it. No need to constantly post and moan about a rating, it won't change a single thing. Save your energy for something actually worthwhile.

Not sure about this news but meh I'll still be seeing it and I rarely go to theaters now

You know what, though? I don't recall the first two being THAT violent. I mean there was a lot of over the top action but nothing that really warranted an "R" rating. I don't even remember there being that much cussing either. Maybe I need to rewatch them. I think this movie will be fine, there'll be plenty of guns, explosions, stunts and ridiculous 80's action liners to keep us happy. :)

Yeah, I guess you just forgot the shotgun scene from the first film. :funny:

My mom was really excited about the trailer. The first two films are terrible but I had fun and I could see myself having fun with this one.

Do I like the PG:13 rating? Nope but I didn't like cheap looking CGI blood either. These films will never live up to their potential, I've accepted that so I'm not even mad about the rating.
Which is why I won't be seeing this one in theater no matter the rating. Just one big disappointment.

Arnold and Sly should have have made a movie together a long time ago with a good action director.

It is a shame this idea didnt live up to it's potential. I was actually watching a ScreenJunkies video where they talked about how to fix the Expendables.

The first movie was just bullsh** other than the Hale Caesar AA-12 scene. The second was a lot better, but still didnt reach the potential of its premise.

after watching the trailer i get why Willis didnt want to be in the movie.

this movie has over 10 known actors. there is no way that everyone will get a good scene to shine. i dont want one funny scene from Banderas and one good knife scene from Snipes. they deserve to be interesting main characters through the whole movie.

Sorry Sly but this will underperform.

Isn't this movie coming out next month? I haven't seen any promos for this thing beyond what's on the front page of SHH.

I hope Jet Li gets more time in this movie. He had hand's down the best fight scene in EX2 and then suddenly he's gone for the rest of the movie lol.

Yup, it will forever be a shame that they couldnt get their **** together when they were in the primes to do a movie. I enjoyed Escape Plan though, even though it was but a glimpse of what could have been.

In my world, a movie simply with the 'big four' (in my eyes - Arnie, Sly, JCVD and Dolph) In the early 90's would have been brilliant; ideally as rival police duos.

I probably brought this up before in this thread, but I'll bring it up again... I really wish sly had just dropped the whole 80's cheese slop and just gone a dirty dozen route with this thing. The tone of the first film was wayy closer to that then the 2nd and that's why I enjoyed it more.

This one looks like another goofy Fast & Furious ripoff (w/o the rock I hate those movies fwiw). It does look like mel as the villain is the only one taking this thing seriously so hopefully he carries this movie a bit and doesn't get shafted screen time like JCVD did in the 2nd.

That would have been great for an international task force plot, with each of them coming from a different country.

I originally thought it would be like the dirty dozen and we'd get replacements when certain team members would get expended. Instead there are more action stars that you can count and you have to hope certain people get screen time. The films are still awesome , but I'd like to see them raise the stakes
