The FFINO ZONE - Part 1

Packing Doom's origin with the FF (again...) is a time saver, but I would look at the list Krystal made (Thanks to Willie for quoting it):

This flick comes in among the running times of the above, and under the 100mins Willie notes there. Could it be an exception to the rule? Stranger things have happened...But based on the trailers and other things we know I can't say I'm confident of that.

It could be the exception to any one rule, but can it be the exception to every rule?

Sure the production was troubled, but it still might be good.

Sure Jeremy Slater has only written one other film and that was terrible, but it still might be good.

Sure Simon Kinberg has written mostly stinkers, but it still might be good.

Sure Trank is inexperienced, unproven and got fired from his next film, but it still might be good.

Sure it has a late embargo and that almost always indicates a bad film, but it still might be good.

Sure it has a very short run-time and that almost always indicates a bad film, but it still might be good.

Sure the trailers make it look cliché and uninteresting, but it still might be good.

Sure it's a film about Josh Trank's man-boobs and not the FF, but it still might be good.

Sure it's a remake of the first film and that didn't work for ASM, but it still might be good.

Those are a LOT of odds to defy when you add it all up.

Oh I do agree. As things stand atm if I had to bet money on it I'd go with low ball estimates across the board. Ratings, box office etc.

That being said, you never know until you know...because I think the films fully lives up to the title of this thread I would prefer it to not be an exception, but what I prefer and what happens aint always the same thing unfortunately. So with that in mind I'm trying to avoid "talking it in" as we say here in the uk.

There are a few things going for it:

1. Fox seems to be throwing a lot of last-minute marketing into it.
2. People know and like the Fantastic Four.
3. The commercials work on a superficial level.
4. Superhero films do generally perform well.

If I had to guess, I'd say the reviews will be as bad as expected, but it could do a little better at the box office than expected.

But even being a little better at the box office than current projections will mean it will make much less than ROTSS.

Do we? I am unfamiliar with that one.

Well, it's common enough where I'm from (London originally). Basically means talking with certainty about would you want to happen or will happen, only to have the opposite occur.

I am wondering now though if that bad interview the other day might have been planned by Fox ? Think about it for a second. When was the last time MBJ & Kate has been asked about the changes with the characters they play ? Something tells me Fox would control questions in most interviews. Or at least give interviews a list of questions they can not be asked. What if that bad interview was planned with Fox hoping it gets this movie sympathy from the General Audience ?

We're a regional lot. lol. We have tons of sayings that don't necessarily travel. Reminds me of that bit about the phrase 'backie' on The Last Leg yesterday.

Sorry but I don't believe in conspiracy theories and nobody's going to care about that interview. They are going to go see the movie if they think it looks entertaining not because of a bad interview.

Funny I was just watching the trailers for Dragonball: Evolution and I got the exact same vibe I get when I watch the Fant4stic trailers.

If Teller saving a pregnant woman and her little girl was only a blip on the news cycle's radar, this interview will have zero effect on anything.

I've been comparing these productions going back to filming. Though one thing isn't comparable...

Goku actually got to wear two recognizable adaptations of his comic outfits.

Indeed. I felt horrible for those actors in that interview and felt they were seriously disrespected by those immature a$$holes, but at the same time no way in Hades do I want to see this film.

I get that Fox is marketing it right now, but I also think Fox should consider ditching the part "from the studio that brought you X-Men: Days of Future Past".

"We felt that reimagining Namor as a milquetoast candle shop proprietor suffering from hydrophobia made for a more interesting character" - Simon Kinberg

"Also, he's a quadruple amputee."

I'm glad Namor's in Limbo between Universal and Marvel.

First time I've said that, but there ya go. Sometimes nothing is a better alternative than something.

We'll just end up with a character called 'Name-or'. Namor in all but name only. :oldrazz:

Name-Or prince of Atlanta. I smell a hit!

[BLACKOUT]Using this spot to make the "You missed a letter!" joke myself, lbecause I'm the only one allowed to make lame jokes, dammit![/BLACKOUT]

Maybe Namor can be a blogger who owns an aquarium in Atlanta, Georgia.

Namor should be the owner of a water park. Forcing the FF on water rides against their will.

I was thinking Namor, Asian owner of a fish market.

Reid: "We have a Thing!"
Namorshev: "I have crabs!"

1. Why? 2. It's good that Marvel has him for their own universe since he's Marvel's first character. I'm glad that he's part of the MCU.

As long as the MCU has been around, there have been three characters I've been dying to see: Dr. Strange, Black Panther, and Namor. Now that we are going to get 2 of those, I'm really hoping Universal and Marvel can work something out. I have a feeling they will be in no rush to get to that character anytime soon though.

It's good that Universal has him as opposed to Fox because of what they're likely to do to him.

Better he be in limbo with Marvel and Universal (last we heard, distribution still isn't cleared up completely) then show up in this Fantastic Four franchise. That's what I'm saying.

I think we can all agree with that.

My suspicion for some time now is that Marvel is more likely to play ball with those Universal distribution rights (which should just boil down to cutting a check) if they get the Fox properties back. Fantastic Four: Atlantis Rising and Wolverine Vs Hulk sound a lot more marketable than Namor or another Hulk solo.
