The FFINO ZONE - Part 3

This truly means people can't use Rothman anymore as an excuse for poor Fox/Marvrl movies. They have no real vision, they get lucky and hire directors with a vision perhaps, but no real vision themselves and no obvious love for the source material.

Fantastic Four is The Most Self-Loathing Superhero Movie I’ve Ever Seen

This is the feeling I've had from the start. It's like: "Superheroes aren't cool. The Fantastic Four aren't cool. People will laugh at us if we have blue uniforms." etc. etc. etc.

Josh Trank seems like someone who is very insecure and desperately needs to feel cool.

Problem is he wouldn't know cool if cool walked up to him, yanked that stupid baseball cap off his head and slapped the s*** out of him with it.

I've always had a contentious relationship with Fox on the Superhero front.

I hate that Magneto is the villain in all of the X-films and does the exact same thing in the 3rd act, I hate that Wolverine is the leader of the team, I hate that Rogue is a whiney useless little girl, I hate that Storm is a boring character, I hate the cheap drab look and I hate those horrible black pleather costumes.

And I love this line:

"with great power comes moderate ennui"

:funny:

When at Comic Con he admitted he made Chronicle 2 instead of Fantastic Four. How could this not be the result ?

I thought Chronicle was good so I would have watched an actual sequel to that film.

Didn't he get screwed over from doing HIS Chronicle 2? Maybe he messed this up on purpose...

Sure, and that's the shame of it. If Fox had just given back the rights to Marvel and made Chronicle 2, Fox would probably have a successful film on their hands, Josh Trank would probably still have a career and he'd be off working on Star Wars right now. Things would have been so much better.

He forgets the fundamental basis of being "cool": not caring what haters think in the face of you doing what makes you happy or you feel is right. His response to people lambasting his vision for the movie isn't, "That's okay. They can feel how they feel and I'll do the movie the way I'd love to see the Fantastic Four crew. Hopefully they'll be surprised to find a lot to like about this interpretation." It's, "Maybe I need all these crybabies and bullies around me to drive me to prove them all wrong."

Which, hey, if that's what fuels his creative spark then fine, but it directly butts heads with a major theme of the F4's characters - namely the Thing, who goes out and does good for the world in spite of any vitriol thrown at him, not because of it. He doesn't achieve things to prove anything in some kind of dick-measuring ego contest; though that's apparently what kickstarts the inciting incident. That's what's always rubbed me the wrong way about his gynecomastia-superpower comparison as if his motivations are in tune with the characters'.

Right, everything would have be cool if those things happened.

So how about we go get Tim Story back to get this franchise on it's feet? He did do the most critically acclaimed Fantastic Four film. :o

Could you imagine who would be stupid enough to direct a sequel to Tranktastic 4?

They'd hire someone who has made one film at most that was decent enough to get them some positive press and then the studio would run the whole thing to try and avoid another disaster, but pin it on him (since it'd be a him) if it went wrong. :o

This is one of 100 reasons it's near impossible for Fox to make another film. No director in his or her right mind would sign on for that project. No Fox manager in their right mind would vote to green-light another project.

I know for many of us who have suffered so long, it seems too good to be true, but there is zero chance Fox will make another film in 7 years. It's just not within the realm of reasonable possibility.

I'm sure there's a line of indie hipster directors waiting for the chance to be discovered, so they could get "inside the scene" and stick it to the man. Just pick one of those!

Doom will be a vegan activist blogger with blue hair.

It would've been amazing if Trank was actually a secret genius and staged his behavior to make a documentary. So he was basically in on it the whole time to denounce Fox and their tactics in a groundbreaking documentary. However Trank just isn't that smart or meta

Well you would think, but you never know

None of this would have happened if it wasn't for that stupid film in 1994. Marvel was 3 days away from getting the rights back. 3 days!

They did get the rights back and re-sold them to Fox.

Yup,just checked the x-boards. They are defending the movie there while s***ting on the MCU as always. I still don't get where this superiority complex comes from.
