Imagine if Deadpool gets bad reviews too...someone will committ suicide here lol.

No I won't! :fst:

Oh do you mean Psylockecolussus? Oh he's going down with the ship. :bnd:

:oldrazz:

I have a feeling it could. It may please fans, but from the trailer, it doesn't look like it will be up for a lot of Oscars.

But if they give the fans what they want, it may make some money even if the critics hate it. That's the big mistake Fox made with FF, they made a film that both critics and fans hated.

I've no idea how Deadpool will be received, but I'm honestly hyped for it. It seems to be getting good buzz mainly and I'm fairly happy with what I've seen. I've only a couple of nitpicks like I'd like to see Ajax in a flashier costume and wish Colussus was wearing something that's more akin to his classic costume since Deadpool is wearing a costume straight from the comics, but nothing that makes me actually worry about the film. Fingers crossed it's actually good and people like it.

Deadpool is a very niche character with a devoted fanbase. A lot of people are going to find him annoying. The small budget is a smart thing in my opinion.

That being said, I am very much supportive of the approach. Everything I've seen is absolutely faithful to the spirit of what Deadpool fans want. I'm love that they appear to be doing the character right as opposed to 'Duh...let's make him more family friendly so Little Jimmy and his friends can see it' like they usually do these days. Doing something like that would ruin the character.

The funny thing is that not even the green band trailer for Deadpool is that family friendly .

I think a great Deadpool can be made for $50 million. It's not like the FF, where you need CGI every time the Thing's on camera or any time there's any action and they're using their powers. Deadpool should be able to do some really cool things with fairly traditional (and inexpensive) stunt-work, and I think $50 million should be more than enough if they use what they have right.

That lower budget also puts a lot less pressure on it to be a success. If Deadpool does just a little better than FF is doing (which is a very low bar), that will probably be enough to call it a success.

Well considering that it appears that the entire Deadpool film was shot on a highway overpass they probably will be fine budget wise.

I thought the humor in the trailers was a bit daft and immature but I'm not a fan of Liefeld's creation so my opinion is not a good gauge.

Getting my jabs out of the way however, there are aspects to the film - particularly the visuals - that look amazing. Costume is absolutely perfect and I'm frankly in awe of how they have brought Colossus to life. What an unbelievable job. I wonder though does he talk? Does he get to deliver any lines other than "I can help you" or "She took off"?

Whether Deadpool is a great film or not doesn't even matter to me personally though because I will not give Fox one red cent at the movie theater until they do right by the Fantastic Four.

Yeah, I'm only mildly interested in it at the moment, but even if it looks great as time approaches, I think I'm going to say: "Eh, not putting any money in Fox's pocket." and skip it.

As long as Fox continues to hang onto and squeeze the life out of the FF, I'm not interesting in giving them any of my money.

 We can only hope that eventually Fox gets a clue.

In the meantime, it's no big deal to wait for cable, Netflix or Redbox.

Deadpool is probably most comparable to Kick-Ass, but with a larger fanbase to draw from.

Meanwhile, Fant4stic will be a big seller in the bargain bins in Walmart by Christmastime. Fox could market it as a stocking stuffer.

I have strong interest in X-Men:Apocolypse & moderate interest in Deadpool, I have limited to zero interest in Gambit, but that could change.

Depending on how Fox deals with the F4 in the upcoming year though will dictate if I see any X-titles in the theater or wait till home release.

(I still plan to NEVER watch Fant4stic in any form though, there simply is not enough alcohol in the would to get me even the slightest bit interested in it)

I was a big Gambit fan as a kid because of the cartoon. I have no idead on how that film is shaping up since it's still early days, but I would never have chosen Tatum for Gambit. I hope that one turns out well.

Especially if they make the package look like a lump of coal. "The perfect gift for the person who doesn't deserve anything!"

You're exactly right, a Deadpool movie can be made on the cheap and still be appropriate for the character. It amazes me that Fox didn't green light this movie earlier, it seems like a no brainer. But I guess that's par for the course when you're talking about the same people responsible for FFINO.

One particular advantage: Deadpool doesn't need photorealistic CGI, because Deadpool is supposed to come off as cartoonish.

I know Fox doesn't care about my ticket but I am not seeing a single film of theirs at a movie theater. I didn't see The Wolverine in theaters (turned out that was no real loss). I didn't see DOFP in theaters (and I really wanted to especially after all the rave reviews). But I eventually saw them. No big deal. But Fox didn't make a penny off of me.

I'm a comic book junkie but the FF are my favorites and I'm sick and tired of Fox screwing them over again and again and again. If Fox wants my day one Apocalypse ticket they can start by releasing the Fantastic Four from the Negative Zone. Until then they can jump in a lake for all I care.

I'm only seeing Apocalypse in theater. Can't wait for it.

Yeah, I've seen every Fox/Marvel film in theaters so far except The Wolverine (not because of a protest but because it looked boring). But I'm going to skip Apocalypse unless Fox gives up the rights. I'm sure Fox won't miss my money, but I'll feel better knowing they're not getting it.

Right on.

A lake of green lava/goop.

:funny: Preferably yes.

I hear you and understand.

Because of the group I'm part of, 99% chance I would have an option to see it for free anyway and in that case I'll take it, but usually for comic films I will try to see them more than once and in that case I would wait until home release for my second viewing.

So you won't even see the critically acclaimed Planet of the Apes movies because they mishandled a completely separate franchise?

So you are not gonna see the insanely good looking The Martian because they mishandled a completely different franchise?

So if The Martian and the third Apes films turn out to be critically acclaimed films deserving of money, you won't reward the actors and the filmmakers because you didn't like one franchise the studio screwed up?

Seems reasonable.

I get you, I respect Singer as a director so he gets a pass from me.

Boycotting every Fox film from here on out is like cutting your nose off to spite your face.

Just so we are clear...

Fox screwed up a F4 film...so to try to punish them you are going to punish yourself by not going to see any Fox film no matter how good certain of their films are. Sorry, but this sort of thing is just stupid. Itd be like denying yourself filet mignons for the rest of your life because you got a bad sirloin one time. The only person losing in that scenario is yourself.

Fox has had a lot of screwups, not just Fantastic Four. As a Dragon Ball fan that also enjoys Fantastic Four and has a little love for Street Fighter... yeah, they don't have much of a track record. Hell, I read a great deal of Garfield growing up and the X-Men films, while good overall, have underwhelmed a bit in some regards.

Basically I personally have lots of reasons to be leery of Fox produced adaptations. I'm sure some of the other people who are planning on passing on some of Fox's other efforts also have valid reasons to not want to give them money. You can't blame the consumer for voting with their wallet.

Your perspective is off because you're presuming seeing a film put out by these a**holes would be a pleasurable experience.

I wouldn't derive any pleasure knowing I was putting money in the pocket of these jerks.

I used to love Woody Allen and Roman Polanski films, but there's credible evidence that both of them rape children. I can't watch their films any more because the thought turns my stomach. That's not a pleasurable experience even if the film, on its own, would be.
