The Flash The Flash General Discussion and Speculation Thread - Part 2

Mercy Reef was never connected to Smallville in any way despite being produced by the same people.

The Supergirl thing, though, is an entirely different matter, as it's already been given the green light by CBS (which has a 50% ownership in The CW) and is being produced by Berlanti. The pieces are already in place for something like what I described above to happen, so the possibility is there.

I don't personally think it WILL happen and that Mark Pedowitz was talking about something else entirely when he hinted at a third Arrow/Flash-verse series being talked about, but I did want to raise the possibility of said series ultimately ending up being Supergirl.

Perhaps a better statement would be that Firestorm doesn't have *great* villains. Those two characters for instance would have made really weak big bads.

How did you come to this conclusion? As proven by many comic book appearances in both the long-running first two firestorm volumes those characters both have plenty of big bad potential especially for a TV series. End of the day it's just in how they are utilized and written.

That of course depends on the level of research and imagination of the writer. As someone who writes himself I could think of many ways to make Killer Frost an extremely formidable threat based on her character and powerset alone. Of course I also know more about her than your average writer.

Still there aren't bad characters just bad writing. Any character has the possibility to be a lot more than your average person thinks they could be if paired with the right writer.

Watched the premiere tonight. The end was so intriguing. I've seen a lot of speculation that Wells might be the real Thawne or Zolomon, but I'm kinda hoping that he's not evil. I'm not sure why he's faking paralysis or how he has a newspaper from the future, but I like him as a mentor figure for Barry so I'm hoping that he doesn't turn out to be evil, at least at this point. Guess we'll see...

Well on another note, unless I'm mistaken with my facts...I think "Barry Allen/The Flash" just became the first comic book/costumed super hero to appear on two different days on television during the same week on episodes that weren't reruns.

first look at Reverse Flash!!

he seriously looks amazing, way better than I imagined, and i can't tell whos under the mask!! this show is too awesome.

the 90s series could've been so much better if they introduced Reverse Flash, I'm so glad this show isn't wasting any time on introducing Flash's rogues gallery.

oh and check out the ring!! i guess this means that Barry could condense the suit into a ring at some point!

i know we'll never see Bruce Wayne/Batman, but what about Thomas Wayne in a Flashpoint storyline?! do you guys think that would be impossible? how amazing would that be though?

Jeffrey Dean Morgan is Thomas Wayne in the movies, and he has a history with the CW, it'd be awesome to see him as Thomas Wayne/Batman. Gustin has said that there's an intention to do a Flashpoint storyline, and the Wayne's exist in this universe... i don't think it's completely out of the question

It's a stunt guy, so could be either Wells or Thawne. Cool costume though. It's exactly the same (belt, jacket) as Flash's, which was made in Star Labs. Yet another link to Reverse Flash and Star Labs/Wells rather than Thawne. Yea, I'm pushing that theory :P

I think it'd be far more interesting for WELLS to be Eobard Thawne/Reverse Flash. Eddie Thawne should be Cobalt Blue and he can be Eobard's grandfather.

I agree. If you rewatch the pilot episode with the idea that Wells is Reverse Flash all along (and he knows it), every interaction between him and Barry reads very differently. How he builds up Barry - "Run, Barry! Run!" just sounds exactly like Reverse Flash in the animated Flashpoint film.

Reverse Flash wants to ruin Flash, not just beat him. A key thing is his ego. I can easily see Wells coming from 2024 (the future news article) to when Barry's mother died. He killed her, then built Star Labs with his knowledge of science and tech from the future. He created the Flash but got none of the praise for what Flash has done since he started saving people. Just my theory!

You know, I know that Reverse Flash wants to crap on Flash's life...but I didn't think that he'd do it so literally.lol

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't that just speculation based on a painting that kind of looked like him?

I can't believe we're being introduced to Reverse Flash so early into the series. Absolutely stunned looking at that picture. And you're right, the costume looks really good.

I assume this is from the mid-season finale, since they were shooting the Arrow-Flash crossover a while back.

Very excited for this.

A show based on magic could be a lot of fun. That would make a badass "Trinity" for TV and would be completely different from the other superhero shows out there.

Although a Green Lantern show would be soooooooooo awesome...and expensive but man think of the fun you could have :wow:
Constantine already has the magic aspect covered.

The next Superhero should be connected to aliens/Cosmic stuff to differentiate it.

The List of possible heroes for a new show would therefore be
1.Green Lantern
2.Hawkman/girl
3.Starman
4.Captain Comet
5.Adam Strange

Lobo and MMH are cool cosmic heroes but I dont think they fit CW at all

They could kinda"cheat"and decide to make Atom a cosmic hero though.

In a perfect world, Adam Strange would work as a throwback space adventurer serial.

I just don't think it'd necessarily work on a small tv budget.
Animated maybe.

The Question could work pretty easily.
Maybe something focused on a villain that ties into the rest of the TV universe.

LOVING that Zoom/Reverse Flash costume.

Also, I hope they just call him Zoom instead of Professor Zoom or Reverse Flash.

Am I the only one who wishes that Zoom's suit was more yellow? I love the ring though, maybe Barry'll get one from him (or Wells/Eobard maybe?) and start using it n

I dont see why not.Alien planet and weapons.Same as a lot of Syfy shows.

Adam West and Burt Ward did that all the time their first two seasons. I wonder how the Green Hornet and Kato crossover worked back in the day.

Maybe. I don't know much about what goes into budgets and how much what costs.
I guess it worked for Firefly and Farscape.

I meant it more in the small CW budget possibility.
But again, could be wrong.

I hope they call him professor zoom tired of the canary, arrow, and the blur

Wells is not Reverse Flash. He's a wholly original character, as per the producers.

I'm not sure I buy that's he's a totally original character (though I'm fine with it if he is). The producers could just be playing coy with this identity. I was thinking maybe he's Jay Garrick. Perhaps he was a speedster once and lost his powers, and did the particle experiment to get them back.
