The Flash The Flash General Discussion and Speculation Thread - Part 2

The re-run of the Flash pilot after last night's Arrow did almost 2.1 million viewers. The Arrow premiere itself did almost 2.8 million (initial overnight rating, anyway).

I'm wondering how much of a drop we'll see from the 4.8 million it had at the premiere. Just guessing based on how Arrow and Gotham performed after their premieres, could be looking at an 8-15% drop. Hopefully not any more than that.

Also wonder if the pilot leaking helped or hurt the ratings. On the one hand, a lot of people had already seen it and may not have wanted to watch it live. On the other, it got a lot of positive buzz around the net and may have encouraged people to tune in. Or maybe there's just not a lot of overlap between the types of people counted in the Nielsen ratings and the types of people who torrent things.

Then, of course, you've got DVR/Hulu/Amazon/iTunes/OnDemand. I wonder how many people in total have actually seen it.

It seems like you don't read many comic books.

Professor Stein and Ronnie Raymond always function as independent characters in their series. They aren't always fused within the Firestorm matrix 24/7.

What are you going to do? Have one character show up in some episodes and the other character show up in other episodes? That's going to be really confusing and really convoluted, particularly for people who don't read comics.

1) TV audiences aren't as stupid as you would like to think they are

2) I mean they literally function as independent characters outside of the matrix. Meaning they interact with each other and others in the flesh outside of the matrix; so it's 2 completely separate people it's not a tag team match scenario.

Oh nice, I didn't even think of that. And that would provide a nice segue into Barry getting an updated costume (like in that Flash vs. Reverse Flash leaked art).

Cw milk the shows dry vampire diaries. 112 episodes
Supernatural. 196 episodes
90210.
114 episodes
and many more..
The point is that The Flash should be fine since the CW doesn't require large ratings anyways. It's not in an ultra competitive environment like it would be on a larger network. In that sense it works to the advantage of becoming a longer run series.

Yeah give us the ring.[YT]sPvkpflsqkw[/YT]

I'd much prefer Barry hiding his costume under his tongue like Superman does.

Constantine already has the magic aspect covered.

The next Superhero should be connected to aliens/Cosmic stuff to differentiate it.

The List of possible heroes for a new show would therefore be
1.Green Lantern
2.Hawkman/girl
3.Starman
4.Captain Comet
5.Adam Strange

Lobo and MMH are cool cosmic heroes but I dont think they fit CW at all

They could kinda"cheat"and decide to make Atom a cosmic hero though.

Constantine is on NBC so I highly doubt it will be part of this universe...though I hope it is :)

LOL, Captain Comet. Gotta love a superhero who wears tighty-whities.

I'm going to go ahead and say there's probably one big reason a show called "The Avenger" will never see the light of day.

No, you have them both there since they "fuse" and "unfuse" at their leisure. They can both be in the scene together and if they fuse you would show most likely Ronnie with Steins voice in his head.

You are making it way more difficult than it needs to be.

I could still be called avenger. Marvel doesn’t own the word avenger

They still expect decent ratings, they have cancelled plenty of shows over not living up to what they expect them to.

They might not own it but I could see them getting into a legal dispute over it. Remember, Captain Marvel is no longer called Captain Marvel anymore.

Agreed. The avenger début in 1939.

Decent ratings for the CW are much lower though than a bigger network. I'm not even a huge fan of the adaption yet (I'm just not a CW person, but there is potential with this show), but I am quite confident it will have legs.

I think the Tomorrow People and Star Crossed were both cancelled because of poor ratings.

but... the Flash has a built in core of fans that will tune in regardless. It's a different situation imo.

I could eat my words, but I'm pretty sure the built in fans who will tune in will make up the difference that other shows could not get viewership wise. With the lower ratings requirement of the CW, I'm pretty confident Flash goes on for a good bit.

Unless the show goes downhill fast I don't see how it could encounter trouble, the pilot was overwhelmingly well received and sported some of the best ratings the CW has seen in years. It's highly unlikely that it or even Arrow will encounter any trouble for quite some time, the only CB show atm that should be watching its arse is Gotham, which is proving to be very polarizing.
