The first one could've been better, but seeing as it was quick I didn't really have a big problem with it. Agreed on the supersonic punch though, they should've scrapped that shot entirely and just went with having Girder getting hit by the usual red streak/lightning effect and shown it in real time, the cgi model in episode 6 was nowhere near good enough for anything resembling a closeup, the textures on it don't even match up with the actual thing.

Yeah I agree about the supersonic punch it was kind of unessasar. There have been so pretty cool shoots to though. I thought the first photo was a great shoot.

Well I just hope that they start filming some new "close up" shots of Barry, when he's running in super speed considering that his costume has been modified a bit; namely his mask (you can look at the costume thread for those of you that don't know what I'm talking about).

They aren't necessarily meant to be paused and analyzed. They're live action.

These are fanboys we are talking about. They have to analyze, or actually over analyze everything haha.

Haha I noticed this too whilst watching it as a .gif. Definitely wouldn't' have ever caught it during the episode though. I wonder why they decided to adjust the mask ever so slightly. The new and old cowls are definitely the best part of the costume so far.

On another note, I honestly wonder on who's in charge of supervising the visual effects for anything related to the Flash on the CW (including his crossover portion on "Arrow").

I know they're working on a television budget and all, but I can't believe that this is the best that they could come up with, let alone that they would want to put out in their final product. Whenever these shots came out, it really took me out on what would have normally been an "awesome sequence".

There were plenty of moments on "Smallville" where they were able to create slow motion sequences that used the real actor in a believable and great looking way as opposed to using a complete and unconvincing looking CGI model instead, so it's not like it would have been impossible for them on their budget.

lol; just because the show is overall great, it doesn't mean that a person can't be irritated by some of the very bad CGI that comes up once in awhile.

I mean I know that I'm not the only one that's watched a sequence where they felt it could have been perfect or were taken out of the moment due to a bad cgi model that was in play.

And the two shots that I posted above, it wasn't something that I noticed from dissecting the shots in slow motion. I noticed them during my first viewing without having to rewind; it was that noticeable.

I bet the most restricting aspect when it comes to doing the special effects for this show, isn't the budget itself, but the time constraint they must have to work on. They really don't get to spend long on each episode - I bet there's a huge amount of pressure on the special effects team.

It's no wonder Arrow and Flash needs season breaks to let their shooting and production schedules get ahead of the episodes airing. Sometimes it feels like no sooner have we seen set photos of something being shot from an episode, then suddenly that very episode is appearing in the latest promo!

I don't mind the CGI. I think it looks pretty good for a tv show.

I'm not expecting Jurassic Park level CGI.

I thought the punch CGI model was worse.

Both made me wonder why they didn't do with Gustin and green screen or slomo.

The sonic punch was simply a waste of time and money. Instead of focusing on him flying through the hall, the focus should have been on the punch. And I agree that the scene with Barry catching the Boomerangs, could have probably been done with a green screen.

On another note, am I like the only one that thinks that Grant has the best chemistry (so far) with Danielle as opposed to Candice?

Seriously, if Danielle's character wasn't set to become Killer Frost later down the line and wasn't romantically linked with Firestorm, I'd think that she'd be a better choice (at least, until Candice proves me otherwise when given a better chance for when the story calls for it) for Barry in terms of the romantic subplot for the show.

I definitely agree. I like Danielle and she seems cute. I remember her from the TV series "Shark". I can't imagine her turning evil. That could soon become like having Felicity turn bad. Maybe if she does become Killer Frost, she won't be able to control her actions or will be out of her mind like Barry was in Flash v Arrow. That's the only way for her to still have some kind of redemption and not turn completely to the dark side.

I think Danielle has better potential and chemistry with Barry. Iris feels rather forced. Maybe they should've cast Danielle as Iris instead, but then she wouldn't have been part of the main team or plot and couldn't join in with things like in the Brave and the Bold on Arrow and get to see the Arrow Cave.

I honestly think that Iris shouldn't have been introduced so early. It never seems to work - Laurel on Arrow being a prime example. Joe West could've just had a daughter who was off at college or something, and she and Barry never grew up together or had a sibling type relationship (which makes it even more weird).

Wasn't Iris really supposed to be the foil for Felicity though?

If anything, Barry has the best chemistry with Felicity but they needed to explain why he was not running back for her (no pun intended) once he woke up, and it was because Iris was there by his side the whole time.

But Barry and Caitlin works the same way Oliver and Felicity did, it wasn't intended character-wise, but chemistry wise, the actors make it easy for fans to want it.

How about if, instead of Caitlin Snow becoming Killer Frost, they get Kay Panabaker as a relation of Snow who becomes Killer Frost instead? Or she could be an alternate universe Caitlin who looks similar but slightly different, and this version is Killer Frost. We could also get alternate universe versions of Felicity (played by an older actress - maybe Charlotte Ross?) where in that universe she IS the mother of Ronnie Raymond, and an alternate Laurel Lance where she goes by the name of Dinah and is the only Canary.

Honestly though, I don't see the chemistry between the two compared to say Barricity or even Olicity. They come off as siblings as much as Barry and Iris do for some reason.
