It looks like the members of Team Flash will each have their own directions moving forward into the third season of the series. and from the looks of it, the progress will entail a little romance, a little struggle, and a little peace.
The Flash showrunner Aaron Helbing got in touch with TVLine to reveal some tidbits on where exactly we’ll find our hero and his friends at the onset of the back half of season 7.
First off, we already know that Iris is supposed to die at the hands of Savitar, unless Barry can do something about it. However, he is obviously not alone as Cisco and Wally, a.k.a. Kid Flash will also be playing quite the role in the saving.
The upcoming episodes will also give big reveals and explanations related to the speed god. There’s the big question of why Barry is the only one who could see Savitar. The show will also tackle the almost Schrodinger’s cat moment of Savitar being both trapped in the box and free to kill Iris in the future. And we’ll probably get to understand the three prophecies.
As for Team Flash, its other members will also be seeing their own struggles. Cisco will be facing off with Gypsy. Since she can cross dimensions and have a more advanced Vibe, she will definitely be someone that Cisco will remember. Whether it’s on the side of romance or annoyance, we’ll have to stay tuned.
For Caitlin, we did see her mellow a little with her powers when she was able to control a slight snowfall for the last episode. Helbing shares that Caitlin will still have to deal with her powers and their consequences.“There’s always going to be that threat there, and that’s going to be something that she’s wrestling with for the rest of the season. We have big plans for Caitlin, ones that I think are really exciting and really satisfying.”For those who are thinking of that lingering scene between her and Julian and the eggnog, that potential may have to wait. Helbing said that the two will remain friends for now. though they do share similar experiences with unwanted powers (or services to a speed god), there’s a sort of bond that holds the two of them.
I’m all for this little hesitation when it comes to Caitlin’s love life. She has been through quite the ride for the past two seasons. His original fiancé dying, then being resurrected into a meta, then losing him again in different earths, and falling for someone who will become a villain—I think her powers alone may already be a lot of drama to handle.
The Flash will be back on The CW on 24.
