Next season I hope they don't bother with trying to pull a surprise villain again.

I thought the timeline was confusing before, damn these last two episodes have made it a cluster.

Even if someone were to explain to me what's going on, I probably wouldn't understand it. I'm past caring at this point.

they'll never promise that . it's just like the arrow writers refusal to keep doing flash back story part's into story plots in arrow and they said they won't stop that even though people from the fan base/ audience wanted them to.

The live action dc writers love certain parts of their formula's too much and are set in their ways . Unless new blood in put in and there's new direction taken, cause higher ups at both the cw and DCE say so.

But they did say it won't be another speedster next year . we'll see what happens. they have stick to that promise at least.

i figured the writers could go with a future version of barry from a different earth or reality, but didn't think they'd go with that scenario.

first off many of there clues/hints throughout have really been misleading, savitar saying he created himself.

barry never created himself, unless savitar barry is not this future version of barry but a another future version of barry from another earth.

The reason why this barry can't be future savitar barry is because 2024 barry would've known and been able to tell 2017 flash who savitar really was.

also the clip they showed of savitar in human form from behind looks nothing like barry allen in terms of physique the guys biceps/shoulders are way bigger than grants physique...so ya that was misleading.

also this future barry has some marks on the side of his face....almost like he's an evil version of barry....reminds of smallville when clark fought bizarro seems like this future version of barry is a similar concept.

Though i had thoughts they'd use barry as savitars true identity i figured they could've went with someone else....they really didn't have to make up the whole story of a future barry being savitar....what they should've done is used a storyline with savitar being a totally different character and have more fight scenes.

i think using a future version of barry was sort of an easy way out for savitars reveal...in the comics he's a totally different character, a war pilot who gets his speed from flying a jet and gets hit by lightning.

also even though many things were mislead in the hints/clues savitar did make some questionable comments like "i'm the future, flash"....that was a big hint on who savitar really is.

2024 flash didn't know so my guess is the way to play this out is future barry is from another earth or reality or created due to flashpoint.

Couldn't they have thought of a better reason for Wally to be absent than having him visit his girlfriend on E-3? It makes Wally and the others look so irresponsible.

How about if everyone except Barry already knew Savitar's identity? They'd hide it from Barry for as long as possible, while sending Wally on a secret mission to traverse the multiverse and recruit all the speedsters.

So this means Barry lied to Barry when Barry asked Barry if Barry knew who Savitar was
Or that one still didn't know about this version at all . this version that's savitar might be an alternate future barry or from a former reality one created from flash . And the one barry met who was down in the dumps over loosing iris in the future, had no clue who savatar ever was.

Right. Because Barry2024 knew that he already had seven years of life to lose if Barry2017 changed history. It'd be like partial suicide, probably a difficult decision no matter what else it involved.

No, the future Barry visited is only one possible future. In this future Barry never traveled to 2024 to find out answers, and therefore never got enough information to deduce who Savitar really was.

Not necessarily, what with time remnants, alternate timelines, and all sorts of wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff that could be going on, every move they make has the potential to alter the timeline.

that's just strange reasoning. future barry was in the dumps about loosing iris, then doesn't want her saved by his present day 2017 self ? Also there is this theory that this will create alternate universe .

When someone change their present by a certain chose/ actions that the future is changed. but the future that was going to be/ happen still exists some where, and is still intacted . so it won't make a difference about him not wanting his future changed.
2017 barry course will change but the one he visited will still be at where he was.

ether way he's screwing his past self over by becoming savitar.
Any way we'll see.

I'm just thinking that Barry2017 would immediately do something impulsive to change history so that the years 2017 to 2024 turn out differently. Barry2024 lost his fiancee seven years ago and has had time to move on (at least somewhat), to cool down and appreciate being alive; he knows he wouldn't be the same person if his life had taken a different turn seven years in his past.

lol like said we'll find it's still insnae but we'll find out .cause that mean's 2017 barry did some thing stupid by setting 2024 on that path. I 'm lughing at my screen going what???? at this right now.

With 2017 barry banging his head against the wall hearing this from savatar .

Can't say I was shocked but interested in where they go from here with the twist

Power was out for about a hour and a half including when the show was on tonight. Any way to watch the episode online?

I will say this ties something of a knot on the season-long "hey Barry, you shouldn't time travel!" storyline. The season starts with Jay telling Barry he shouldn't do it. The season ends with proof of how badly things can go when he does do it. Nice symmetry I guess.

Doesn't make the 20 minutes they wasted on the Joe-Cecile nonsense or Julian and Cisco's hissy fits any more interesting though. They need to cut the cast in half. Just let Barry and Cisco do this themselves and write in a fourth Wells to fill in any character gaps they have left. Nobody wants to waste more time on these repetitive contrived romances anymore. Just let Barry run and Cisco make jokes and Cavanagh do Cavanagh things. Caitlyn can be a villain of the week once per season, maybe get a three episode arc if they want to bother explaining how ice powers turn someone into a sociopath. Joe, Iris, Julian, Wally and a time remnant of Iris because I hate her so much she needs to be removed twice should be relocated to a universe in which this show doesn't exist. If we seriously need a love interest just wait for Supergirl to get cancelled and bring Kara onboard full time. Let's make this show a fun romp again. Wasn't that the entire appeal in the first place? Isn't that working really well for Legends right now?

Ugh. I swear next year's villain is gonna be an alternate version of Cisco that is actually Barry's twin brother because one of Caitlyn's time remnants forced both of their parents into a polyamorous relationship where every week one of them wrestles with whether or not to tell a secret to another one and every week will just be 38 minutes of flashbacks to that while the other two minutes are misdirects leading us to believe it's actually the seventh Wells or the secret brother that Wally had but never knew about because in an alternate future he was Kid Flash's sidekick Kid Flashier. The reveal will come in a deleted scene from a Season 2 episode of Arrow released nine weeks after the finale. The cast will continue to use interviews to assure us how heartbreaking this reveal will be.

This turned into a rant.

Wasn't too impressed with the reveal of Future Barry or alt Future Barry or whatever was Savitar. Sorrry, it just didn't do it for me. I guess under the costume he's a mix of two face and Joker with the evil grin giggling.

That said, I give props to those posters who always insisted it was gonna be Barry, and saw where the writers were going.

Probably the best episode since 3x07 and 3x18.

Some interesting theories to consider...

Good episode, I am reminded of that speech from Harvey Dent in the Dark Knight. Where every hero if they live long enough becomes the villain.

I was really expecting to see the emo hair again.

Not a great episode.

I mean, the Killer Frost doing an Iceman ice-surf was cool - but how is that even remotely close to being as fast as Barry, I mean, she could go 50mph maybe and Barry runs about 20x that speed. If he was running to get ahead of her he'd be waiting for her to turn up.

Caitlin does look awesome as KF though.

I don't have a problem with Barry and Cisco getting smacked down because they don't want to hurt Caitlin, but Barry's selective uselessness is kind of annoying - I mean, sure Cisco doesn't have that kind of control of his powers, but Barry moves a million times faster than icicles, even one That Caitlin's shooting.

I know this is a complaint many people have raised before, I just feel it reflects a real weakness in the writing. I don't mind Barry getting beat, but in a way that makes sense.

-Oh well, at least they spared us HR's pep talk that got Tracey back in the game....oh wait, they didn't. Man, I'm so over the pep talks,

In series one I felt this show was headed great places (and even then there were some dumb episodes) but this season has really been a mixed bag of highs and lows.

And of course this.....

To be honest, they should have saved Barry as the villain for the final season of the show. Flash has been around for over 50 years, surely there are plenty of decent adversaries for Barry to face.

Also, unlike the Reverse Flash reveal, I feel this one well wasn't all that well handled - it could have been a lot more shocking.

Sorry, enough complaining - anyway, Legends of Tomorrow has totally taken over as my fave CW superhero show. Sorry Flash.

Okay, I will say this though, the Cisco v Caitlin final fight, blue beams of death was pretty awesome, the one saving grace of the episode.

So we learned that
Savitar needs the suit to contain his speed because he produces too much heat. Think that's what the scars on his face are from? Burning up from running too fast.

I didnt get any indication of that from last nights episode.

I didnt like the episode as a whole. Too much joe and cecille and too much cisco vs julian bickering. I really hope next years villain is going to be somewhat more appealing. This show has been my favorite since day one but its slowly loosing its essence. The writers need to pay a lot closer attention to the fans....
