I have to imagine so, at least imo. Diablo 3, Halo 4, and Assassin's Creed are its main competitors.

At this moment in time, ME3 is still probably the best game I've played this year. I liked Diablo 3 but that was fun in a very disposable sort of way for me. I was actually of the mind that Bioshock Infinite was going to take it, but that got pushed back - I expect to see Assassin's Creed as this year's big winner.

I was hoping for Tomb Raider to make some big impressions this year, but that got pushed back too, so Assassin's Creed is my pick also for a big winner.

But this year, at least compared to last year, doesn't seem to have much to offer. Looking at they year as a whole, there hasn't been much that I was anticipating other than ME3 and AC. Tomb Raider got pushed back, The Last of Us is also not being released until at least next year and GTA V is still up in the air, so most of my excitement in just waiting for next year.

Are there any interesting non sequels & remakes coming out this Fall / Holiday ? There are only two games in total that I want to get full price for. Anything else I can wait for sale. I guess also because a lot of games also got pushed back didnt they ?

It's crazy how stacked 2013 in particular the beginning of 2013 is.

EA to Become 100 Per Cent Digital "In The Near Future"

Frank Gibeau believes that EA will become a 100 per cent digital company “in the near future.”
With retail sales on the decline and consumers increasingly turning to digital, the EA Labels President believes it is only a matter of time before the model is embraced fully.
"We have a clear line of sight on it and we're excited about it,” said Gibeau. “Retail is a great channel for us. We have great relationships with our partners there. At the same time, the ultimate relationship is the connection that we have with the gamer.
"If the gamer wants to get the game through a digital download and that's the best way for them to get it, that's what we're going to do,” he continued. “It has a lot of enhancements for our business. It allows us to keep more that we make. It allows us to do some really interesting things from a service level standpoint; we can be a lot more personalized with what we're doing.”
Despite all this, however, Gibeau says that ultimately it’s the consumers that dictate exactly when the switch happens.
"But if customers want to buy a game at retail, they can do that too,” he said. “We'll continue to deliver games in whatever media formats make sense and as one ebbs and one starts to flow, we'll go in that direction."
"For us, the fastest growing segment of our business is clearly digital and clearly digital services and ultimately Electronic Arts, at some point in the future... we're going to be a 100 percent digital company, period. It's going to be there some day. It's inevitable.”

Crytek Confident in Ability to Make Free-to-Play Single-Player Experiences Work
Written Tuesday, July 03, 2012 By LeeBradley

Crytek is confident that the free-to-play model can be made to work for traditional single-player experiences.
The company recently announced its intention abandon retail in favour of digitally distributed free-to-play games, a model that lends itself to multiplayer experiences. Yet that won't discourage Crytek from making narrative-based, single-player titles like Crysis.
“We’ll figure out how to make a game like Crysis 3 work,” said Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli. “If the proposition is, the gamer gets the games for free, well, that’s better for the gamer. And what’s best for the gamer is best for the industry.”
Yerli went on to describe some of the positives of free-to-play.
“Customers have to put up with all this crap right now, legal notices, copyright protection. The best way to get rid of all that is go free,” he said.
“The gamers get what they want – free access – and if your game is good enough you can hook them in, whether that’s a single-player game, or multiplayer, or co-op, or an RPG, an RTS, or Fifa, or whatever, it really doesn’t matter.
“For every game you can find a solution. For every single one of them. It’s a creative challenge, nothing else.”
All of which sounds rather heartening, doesn’t it? But beware, free-to-play isn’t all good. Check out our feature on the perils of freemium, in which EA CEO John Riccitiello suggests charging Battlefield players a dollar to reload. Scary stuff.

Sorry to clog this page up with news today but it seems like it could be a big deal depending how it plays out.

EU rules publishers cannot stop you reselling your downloaded games

The Court of Justice of the European Union has ruled that publishers cannot stop you from reselling your downloaded games.
More specifically: "An author of software cannot oppose the resale of his 'used' licences allowing the use of his programs downloaded from the internet."
The Court said the exclusive right of distribution of a copy of a computer program covered by the license is "exhausted on its first sale".
The ruling means that gamers in European Union member states are free to sell their downloaded games, whether they're from Steam, Origin or another digital platform - no matter what End User License Agreement has been signed.
The ruling continues: "Therefore, even if the licence agreement prohibits a further transfer, the rightholder can no longer oppose the resale of that copy."
The ruling suggests that if you've bought a license for a game off your mate, you're within your rights to download it from the publisher's website. "Therefore the new acquirer of the user licence, such as a customer of UsedSoft, may, as a lawful acquirer of the corrected and updated copy of the computer program concerned, download that copy from the copyright holder's website," the Court said.
Whether Valve and EA will make changes to their websites to reflect the ruling remains to be seen.
The ruling in more depth:
"Where the copyright holder makes available to his customer a copy - tangible or intangible - and at the same time concludes, in return form payment of a fee, a licence agreement granting the customer the right to use that copy for an unlimited period, that rightholder sells the copy to the customer and thus exhausts his exclusive distribution right. Such a transaction involves a transfer of the right of ownership of the copy. Therefore, even if the licence prohibits a further transfer, the rightholder can no longer oppose the resale of that copy."
There is one condition, however. If you resell a license to a game you have to make your copy "unusable at the time of resale". Now you will do that, won't you?
"If he continued to use it," the Court explained, "he would infringe the copyright holder's exclusive right of reproduction of his computer program. In contrast to the exclusive right of distribution, the exclusive right of reproduction is not exhausted by the first sale."

BB is having a B2G1 sale on all games $30 and over next week. Im tempted on jumping on in this. If I do Batman AC GOTY is definetly on my list but Im undecied on the other 2 titles. On my radar are:

SFxTK
Starhawk
Catherine
DMC HD Collection
GoW Origins HD Collection
Amazing Spiderman
Max Payne 3

Tough choice. I dont think I'll get the last 2 as I dont want to get a game thats more expensive than Batman ($50) and those two are $60. Surprisinhly Cathine is too and thats too expensive for a year old game. That leaves the rest at $40 and below.

Starhawk, I didnt care for the beta, but the full game should be better
GoW. Ive already played the first PSP game on the PSP, so only one of the games is really on my eye. I think I can wait to get this for a BF $20 or under sale
DMC. Ive never played DMC3 but Ive always heard its the best in the series and have been interested about Dante and Vergil's backstory so I can see myself getting this, especially since I havent touched DMC4 bc I missed out on 3.
SFxTK. Getting it for free does sound good as there was no way I was going to pay full price for it. Still there's the charges for all the DLC in the fall and I have a feeling there might be some re-release or bundle with everything, so I think I might wait for the fall B2G1 sales for this.

Tough choices. Batman is really the only one I want and that itself is a re-purchase of a game I owned

Just remembered there's also a promo that if you spend over $50 on online orders, you get $10 credit back. That makes this even more tempting as I have $5 reward zone points in my account and I think I have a gift card with some money for trading in games and I will be doing more this weekend.

Persona 4 Arena to be first ever region locked PS3 release.

The upcoming release of the Atlus and Arc System Works co-produced 2D fighter Persona 4 Arena will be the first PlayStation 3 title ever released to be region locked.
Initially this news came via a moderator over on the official Atlus forums, stating that the North American release of the game would work on PS3 consoles released in North and South America—but that the game would be locked out beyond that for other territories.
I reached out to Atlus to get an official statement, and was given the following:
“Persona 4 Arena will be region-locked in all territories on both PS3 and 360.”
So, this is indeed fact—and does mean that Persona 4 Arena will officially be the first PS3 game to make use of region locking on the console.
The exact reason for this decision isn’t clear at the moment, and Atlus has made no official statement on the matter. It could be due to some concern on the part of Zen United, the European publisher for the game. If that’s the case, however, then why has this never been an issue for other games previous? What it is about Persona 4 Arena that has brought up the need for this move?
Until we know more solid details, all of this is little more than speculation. Speaking from the consumer side, however, I hate to see this happen. We should have less region locking, not more, and to have a system that has not pushed such requirements until now get its first game to do so is disappointing.

Hopefully, no other devs decide to follow in their footsteps.

From EVO:

- Capcom asked for fans bring the subject of a Capcom vs. SNK 3 game to SNK's attention as well, to help it get made.
YES! This needs to happen. People, let your voice be heard. Go to SNK! CvSNK 2 IMO was the best of their VS titles.

If SNK in turn make SNK vs Capcom 3 I'll be thrilled
Never played Capcom vs SNK 2, SNK vs Capcom 2 though is awesome

Capcom vs SNK >>>>>> SNK vs Capcom. Man you really should have played Capcom's games. They were leaps and bounds better than what SNK put out.

Maybe I will if I had the game, but SvC2 Chaotic is one of the most fun fighter games I played, without making the list exclusive to crossovers

They would have a lot more to gain from those Activision shares than some of the other touted contenders but I'm not hearing this rumour that widely just yet.

Activision & Microsoft are pretty much already in bed with each other. They might as well make it official. This would also make Next Gen really interesting

MSFT really need to learn that timed exclusives on DLCs is really not much of an advantage and not worth paying for and boasting about. If you actually get the games for a franchise like this 3 months earlier then maybe, and if you get exclusivity (unlikely given how much money would be lost) then you're really talking. But anyway I'm not seeing this rumour prominently in general financial news/rumours at the moment.

Yea i think Vivendi will be asking for too much, even for MS's wallet.

The tomb raider game will be on Xbox first with no release date for other systems yet.
