It always feels so Fox News-y to say, but I do kind of want them to go American this time around.
People seemed to love him and never listened to me but I was saying Cavill’s American accent is trash since MOS.

God Cavill really sucked in the role. One of my least favorite Supermen. He looked the part and had a sweet suit but that’s where it ends. Cavill is a terrible actor.

All of these are perfect.

Connor Swindells is a very interesting one to keep an eye on. He has a look that more closely approximates the Frank Quitely's depictions that Gunn has been sharing and that could feasibly grow into a more Alex Ross type. Gunn appareantly was a fan of Sex Education, so he's definitely on his radar, and he's in Barbie, so he's on WBD's radar as well.

Could very very easily see a scenario where he takes the role. He's 26, 6'0, and kinda matches the "look" that Gunn likes to go for with his leading men if you look at Chris Pratt or John Cena. He also seems quite charming:

He plays an american in Barbie, so if he has a good american accent he could become a real contender for it even tho almost no one in the fancasting realm is mentioning him.

Thank you for posting that video. Definitely easier to picture him as Superman now.

I think he'd be an interesting choice. His face has a ton of character to it.

Jack Rowan, 26.

John Campea, Canadian comic and sci fi guy and his crew, one of whom filmed Routh's screen test all those year ago for Returns believe Gunn has already chosen his Superman, he just has not announced it yet.

Campea is interesting, and does have a passion for comics and sci-fi, and the associate has been in the business, so take if for what it is worth. I don't know if I believe it, but could be.

What did you see him in that inspired this choice?
Nothing. Just his look.

Depending on what Gunn means when it comes to wanting someone "young, young, young", there's also this dude, Milo Manheim, 22.

Has kind of a young Harold Ramis vibe to him, which I guess could be interesting.

There's also this dude, Kalama Epstein, who was on The Fabelmans.

Each time he's said that he's clarified nobody told him that, it's just him speculating.

John Papsidera was the casting director for The Offer, so this dude, Anthony Ippolito, who played Al Pacino is on his radar:

22. Could see him bulking up to a good Superman look.

I honestly don't think Gunn is gonna go "twink" with Superman. I think we're more in the wheelhouse of Spencer House

More "corn-fed" farm boy, young Chris Pratt type. A big guy with a heart of gold type deal.

I’d be interested to see his take on Superman because it seems like his chief inspiration for role or Al Pacino was Gollum.

I think a look like that would be amazing, the problem is that there's only like 3 guys mentioned so far in the age range that fit it:
-Spencer House
-Connor Swindells
-Jack Reynor.

So I don't know how high the chances are of getting someone with that look.

You know there are like an uncountable number of actors right? Like a lot a lot of actors?
My point wasn't "Oh we've only named 3 people like that so they're the only ones that exist in Hollywood", it was moreso that there are probably less actors like that than there are with the leaner look seeing how hard it is to find ones with that look.

Well isn't it the job of the casting director to find actors with that look?

Connor Swindells comes across more posh and British than Cavill. He also comes across a a **** to me as well. I do not see Kansas farm boy from him at all. And I find his off set eyes creepy.

He might make a far better Lex

That's all the more reason why they're gonna go with a complete unknown. I think Gunn has a specific "type" he wants, and it's the casting director job to bring those actors auditions.

The thing is that historically all Superman actors haven't exactly been "complete unknowns" in the sense that at the very least Routh and Reeve had starring roles in soap operas, so I don't think that whoever he casts is gonna have this as their first acting job or something.
And Gunn can be quite flexible sometimes with his casting if he's surprised by an actor. He didn't want a "model" for Ratcatcher but ended up casting Daniela Melchior because he loved her audition, and he didn't want Chris Pratt until he saw his audition. Even if he wants the stockier frame I think he'd forego it if someone does an audition he really likes.

Maybe we should start watching soap operas and look for big burly young men.

An unknown isn't someone who has zero acting experience. It's someone who is unrecognizable to the public and can disappear into the role.

Hugh Jackman is the modern gold standard. A complete unknown, maybe one or two film credits but a ton of stage experience and loaded with charm, charisma and talent.
